New mini Vault-Cast is live and full of Game of Thrones theories!

Some gave up hope. Some said there would never be another episode. Well Vault Dwellers, those naysayers were wrong! Allow me to present to you an all new Vault-Cast! Recorded just after the second episode of this current season of GAME OF THRONES, Jordan (your humble Vault Master) and "Silent" Steve discuss various theories of where the show may go. At the moment, there aren't any more books to read, so all of us are flying blind!

Some additional notes before you click play on our new cast: This was recorded while we were on a road trip so there is some background noise. We did our best to reduce it without sacrificing the audio quality too much. Also, there are a lot of spoilers, so if you're lagging behind the rest of us, you may want to hold off on listening until you catch up. And again, this was recorded just after episode two of season six, so certain things have since come to pass ("Hold the door!") that we were unaware of at the time.

Give it a listen, and if you enjoy it be sure to check out out previous episodes, which are all available on YouTube, libsyn, and iTunes! Also be sure to share any of your own Game of Thrones theories with us below!

Stayed tuned for another new Vault-Cast episode in just a few weeks! Thanks for listening Vault Dwellers!

On September 13th, Shout! Factory Transforms and Rolls Out their Blu-ray of TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE!

SHOUT! FACTORY'S GOT THE TOUCH, AND THEY'VE GOT THE POWEEEERRRRR! (YEAH!) LOOK FOR THEIR 30TH ANNIVERSARY BLU-RAY OF "TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE" MID-SEPTEMBER!

Shout! (and Scream) Factory keep hitting it out of the park! Just yesterday, I found out that they're releasing a definitive Blu-ray of John Carpenter's THE THING, and now this! TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE is one of the greatest animated films of all time! It boasts some of the most traumatizing moments ever seen in a children's film (this movie made an entire generation of kids weep), and has one of the greatest soundtracks ever!

Film Synopsis: The AUTOBOTS, led by the heroic OPTIMUS PRIME (Peter Cullen), prepare to make a daring attempt to retake their planet from the evil forces of MEGATRON (Frank Welker) and the DECEPTICONS. Unknown to both sides, a menacing force is heading their way – UNICRON (Orson Welles).

The only hope of stopping UNICRON lies within the Matrix of Leadership and the AUTOBOT who can rise up and use its power to light their darkest hour. Will the AUTOBOTS be able to save their native planet from destruction or will the DECEPTICONS reign supreme?

TRANSFORMERS – THE MOVIE is co-produced and directed by Nelson Shin; produced by Joel Bacal and Tom Griffin; supervising producer, Jay Bacal; executive producers, Margaret Loesch and Lee Gunther; music score by Vince DiCola.

Disc Specs:
Color | Rated PG | 84 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen
Audio - ?

Extras:
?

At this time, there isn't any other information about this Blu-ray, other than it will have an all new high-def transfer from the original negatives, a "full range" of bonus content, and collectible packaging. As this highly anticipated disc gets closer to release, and I get more updates on extras, I'll be sure to update this post! Until then get excited Transformers fans and mark September 13th on your calendars!

This October, Blu-ray is the warmest place to hide!

ON OCTOBER 11TH, SCREAM FACTORY DELIVERS THE DEFINITIVE BLU-RAY OF JOHN CARPENTER'S
"THE THING!"

UPDATE: The original street date of September 20th has been pushed back until October 11th! Glaring audio issues were found in the main audio track, so all of us fans will have to wait just a bit longer to get the best possible release of this Carpenter classic!

THE THING is one of my all-time favorite films, so I'm ok with having to buy it again. (I've previously owned it on VHS, DVD, and currently own the Universal Blu-ray.) But now it's time to upgrade again to the last THING release (you and) I will ever need!

Film Synopsis: In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and takes on the appearance of those it kills.

Paranoia strikes deep, and the stakes are high as the military personnel attempt to flush out the creature and kill it before it can assimilate them all. If they fail, "this Thing" could possibly make its way to civilization, where it could wipe out all of humanity in mere months!

Directed by Carpenter, THE THING stars Kurt Russell (ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA) and features special visual effects by Albert Whitlock (DUNE) and special makeup effects by Rob Bottin (THE HOWLING, FIGHT CLUB).

Disc Specs:
Color | Rated R | 109 minutes | Region A

A new HD transfer?! A newly created 5.1 audio track?!! The Network TV Edit of the film?!?! And supposedly, there may be even MORE extras piled on before September draws near! Clearly this is the last release of this film any of us will ever need, so naturally you'll want to order your copy ASAP.

Shout! Factory did have a limited (to 1,500) edition up for pre-order on their site the other day, but that is currently gone! (All it came with was a second slipcover and an additional poster featuring alternate poster art, plus you would have gotten the disc three weeks early!)

However, all is not lost for you can still order the regular Collector's Edition directly from Shout! Factory, and get it two weeks early with an 18 x 24 poster of the new key artwork!

And for those of you who aren't in a rush to get your paws on this Blu-ray (HA!), you can always order a copy from AMAZON.COM!

Regardless, order your copy of THE THING: COLLECTOR'S EDITION and then start counting down to OCTOBER 11TH (or September 20th if you ordered the Deluxe Edition from Shout! Factory, or September 27th if you ordered the standard Collector's Edition)!

Trailer Round-Up: CLOWN, MONSTERLAND, MONSTER TRUCKS, THE SHALLOWS, THE WOODS, & YOGA HOSERS.

Yeesh! It's been a while since I posted some movie trailers at the News Vault! To make up for it, here are six trailers for upcoming genre films that I'm (mostly) excited for! Killer clowns, fearsome Great White sharks, Bratwurst Nazis, and a monster apocalypse await you in this newest collection of cinematic previews! Enjoy!

TRAILER #1: CLOWN
Originally conceived as a fake trailer, CLOWN has become a legit feature-length horror film that is destined to become a cult classic. Produced by Eli Roth, this film follows a well-meaning dad who dons a clown costume to save his child's birthday party. But in a horrifying twist, the costume begins to become part of his body, as an evil presence begins to possess and transform him into a terrifying clown-monster!  Peep out the trailer below and look for CLOWN on VOD (and in select theaters) on June 17th!

TRAILER #2: MONSTERLAND
The Monster Apocalypse is upon us, and humanity is now on the bottom of the food chain. One survivor takes refuge inside a movie theater to buy himself a few more moments of precious life, while a motley assortment of creatures feasts upon mankind! This actually looks pretty crazy and fun (enormous jellyfish monsters!!!) and comes out on DVD..... yesterday! That's right, MONSTERLAND is now available on DVD and VOD! Watch the trailer below, then give this flick a look if you are feeling enticed!

TRAILER #3: MONSTER TRUCKS
I never thought I'd be interested in seeing  a movie like this. It sounds batshit crazy on paper: Friendly alien creatures crash-land on Earth, and befriend some truck-loving teens. Said aliens climb inside a trio of trucks, allowing the heroic teens to drive the alien-powered vehicles away from pursuing government agents. As dumb as it sounds, MONSTER TRUCKS seems kind of fun and even... endearing? If anything, this looks better than it has any right to be, and may actually find an audience despite ROGUE ONE hitting theaters a month before it. Take a look for yourself, then get excited(?) for MONSTER TRUCKS' premiere on January 13th, 2017!

TRAILER #4: THE SHALLOWS
Blake Lively stars as a surfer that is trapped in a shallow bay by a hungry Great White Shark. Injured, alone, and stranded on a tiny piece of land, she'll have to figure a way out of her ordeal before the tide comes in and makes her easy pickings for the predatory fish. It's been a long time since there has been a quality killer shark flick at the multiplex, so I am quite excited to see this flick! Could this be the scariest shark flick since JAWS?! I guess we'll all find out on June 29th!

TRAILER #5: THE WOODS
A group of hikers are assaulted by an unseen force in Adam Wingard's THE WOODS. The trailer is mostly quiet hype for the film, which appears to be a found footage flick. While I'm not a big fan of that sub-genre, I will give this film a chance because I have enjoyed Wingard's other efforts (e.g. YOU'RE NEXT, THE GUEST) up to this point. Here's hoping that it's not just a found footage film with killer trees! THE WOODS is set to have a limited theatrical release on September 16th!

TRAILER #6: YOGA HOSERS
Kevin Smith's latest is one of the most bizarre things I've ever laid eyes on. YOGA HOSERS follows two high school sophomores who love texting and yoga. The two Colleens team up with a Nazi-hunting Johnny Depp to battle "Bratzis:" Miniature Nazi Bratwurst Hitlers! I... really don't know how I feel about this movie yet. It's so weird! It could work, but then again, this could be a completely awful idea for a movie! Only those of us who are brave enough to experience Kevin Smith's cinematic oddity on July 29th, will ever truly know for sure!

That's it for now, but stay tuned for more movie news, trailers, posters, and more Vault Dwellers!

New DVDs & Blu-rays for 05/31/2016!

Sorry I'm so late with this news post Vault Dwellers! Luckily there's not much to report on as May 2016's final week was pretty lackluster. For major releases, you can choose between GODS OF EGYPT (not as awful as you may have heard) and PRIDE & PREJUDICE & ZOMBIES. For those looking for classic fare in high-definition, Blue Underground's got you covered with their new Blu-ray release of VENOM, and Arrow Video has put out a Limited Special Edition of BLOOD BATH that seems like a definite must-own, boasting FOUR versions of the film and a plethora of extras!

And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Vinegar Syndrome's two major releases: THE HUMAN TORNADO (Rudy Ray Moore's followup to DOLEMITE) and PSYCHIC KILLER.

That's really all that seems worth mentioning, so scroll on down to see what's new this week!
