Grey Matter Art's awesome new poster for THE EXPLORERS - Available on July 16th!

I love Grey Matter Art's posters so much, but they have yet to do a cool design for any of my all-time favorite films.... Oh wait, nevermind!

To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Joe Dante's awesome sci-fi adventure, THE EXPLORERS, Grey Matter Art has commissioned a cool new print from Joe Dante's Trailers from Hell! Scope out the new poster created by artist Francesco Francavilla below!

This is AWESOME! Growing up, THE EXPLORERS was one of my "go to" movies whenever I got tired of seeing THE GOONIES go on their dangerous treasure hunt. Even now, thirty years later, the effects hold up extremely well, as does the acting of the film's main stars! Damn, I wanna go watch it right now!

This fantastic poster is only a mere $45.00, and is limited to 150 prints. You can grab yours tomorrow from Grey Matter Art's online shop when it goes on sale at 1:00 PM EST!

The art of the movie poster is clearly not dead; keep up the awesome work guys!

MORE SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON HIGHLIGHTS: DC SUPERHEROS, TALES OF HALLOWEEN, & HATEFUL MORRICONE!

Back on Saturday, I shared some highlights from this year's San Diego Comic-Con that were just plain awesome. Well, with the weekend over with, there were plenty of other cool announcements made that I just didn't want to ignore. So here's another news roundup of some of the really cool stuff you may have somehow missed out on!

THE TRAILER FOR "BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE"
While I wasn't wholly impressed with the first teaser for this film (scope it out HERE), I have to say that I'm slightly more interested now after watching the new trailer that premiered at SDCC. Superman is still figuring out his role on Earth, and is regarded as a god by some, and a menace by others, including Bruce Wayne. It's Supes' destructive endeavors that cause Bruce Wayne to don his cape and cowl again after a long sabbatical, leading to a feud between the two brooding heroes.

Check out the trailer below and get excited DC fans!

My main gripe with MAN OF STEEL, was that after all the carnage was over, Superman didn't issue a public apology for bringing a near-apocalyptic war to Earth, and didn't stick around to help with the clean up. Here it seems he may be trying to atone for his (perceived?) crimes against humanity, so maybe I'll like this film better? I guess we'll find out next year!

THE TRAILER FOR "SUICIDE SQUAD"
DC's followup to SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN has a secret team of supervillains ("Task Force X") put together by the government to complete dangerous missions. What they will be doing in this film is a mystery (are they out to stop The Joker?), but is was quite well-received by fans at the con. Personally it's not rockin' my world, but I'll withhold judgement until I see it next year. Peep it out below.

I'm just not sold on Jared Leto's Joker yet. To me he looks like "crackhead Macaulay Culkin" at a Green Day concert.

THE TRAILER FOR "TALES OF HALLOWEEN"
Up until yesterday, I had no idea that this film existed. TALES OF HALLOWEEN appears to be an anthology flick that takes place on Halloween night. Flesh-eating jack-o-lanterns, monsters, zombies, demons, and more terrorize the citizens of a small town in ten (intersecting?) segments. It looks like it could be a blast, and has a TON of genre heavy-hitters behind it (including Adrienne Barbeau, Barbara Crampton, Joe Dante, Lucky McKee, Mick Garris, and many others!), so I'm more than willing to give it a chance!

Watch the teaser trailer and hope that this flick plays at a theater near you this October!

Umm.... yeah I need to see this! This could be the next CABIN IN THE WOODS or TRICK R' TREAT! God I hope it doesn't suck!

TARANTINO HIRES ENNIO MORRICONE TO SCORE "THE HATEFUL EIGHT!"
During the panel for his upcoming film (due out this Christmas!), Quentin Tarantino threatened his retirement from filmmaking (again), and dropped the bomb that composer Ennio Morricone was currently working on the score for THE HATEFUL EIGHT! This is big news since a.) some of you probably thought Ennio Morricone was dead, and b.) he hasn't composed a score for a Western in roughly forty years!

Watch Tarantino make the big announcement during the panel! Spoiler: The crowd goes wild!

There were plenty of other cool announcements (NECA's lineup of action figures is crazy!) and trailers (DEADPOOL & X-MEN: AGE OF APOCALYPSE... which have yet to be shared online by the powers that be) but I think I've shared the most important highlights. I guess now all that's left to do is wait for all the awesome to start hitting TV screens and theaters, starting this October!

SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON HIGHLIGHTS: ZOMBIES, DEADITES, WOOKIIES, & MORE!

Every year, I get super excited for San Diego Comic-Con (henceforth referred to as SDCC) because there are typically tons of cool announcements from the world of comics, film, toys, and television. And this year is no exception. I've been on an emotional rollercoaster for the past twenty-four hours with all the cool news that have been streaming/leaking onto the web from the event. Come with me on this journey, as I highlight some of, what I consider to be, the biggest announcements thus far.

THE TRAILER FOR "ASH VS. EVIL DEAD"
Oh. My. GOD! I was on the fence about the show, even after seen pics of Bruce Campbell with his trademark Deadite-battling weaponry. But any trepidation I had about this show is gone after watching the gory, and hilarious trailer for Starz' upcoming TV series based off of Sam Raimi's beloved EVIL DEAD trilogy. Scope out the trailer below and get excited for ASH VS. EVIL DEAD's premiere on All Hallow's Eve this Fall!

THE TRAILER FOR "FEAR THE WALKING DEAD"
AMC's "prequel" to THE WALKING DEAD, follows a new cast of characters who struggle to survive the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. It looks surprisingly good and premieres on AMC on August 23rd, to hold us WALKING DEAD fans over until Season 6 of America's favorite zombie Drama rears its rotting head in October. Peep the trailer below!

THE TRAILER FOR SEASON 6 OF "THE WALKING DEAD"
This is looking intense. Rick Grimes and company seemed to be taking over their new home at the end of Season 5, but things apparently aren't going as planned if the Season 6 trailer is any indication. Hordes of zombies, unrest & dissent amongst Rick's group and the people they are trying to protect, and possibly a new villain are teased in this first look at the new season, which premieres on October 11th on AMC!

BEHIND THE SCENES FOOTAGE OF STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
There are few movies left this year that I am as excited for as the newest entry into the STAR WARS saga. The two trailers that have been released thus far were tantalizing teasers, and now we've gotten a delightful appetizer to go with them. This behind the scenes footage from the sets and shooting locations of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, shows that a good chunk of practical f/x was used.

And some of it is so awesome, that I nearly wept with joy. No really. It gave me the same emotional reaction that I had to the previous teaser trailer. The more I see of this film, the more I'm certain that it will be the greatest thing EVER! (Until the other sequels and spin-offs come out that is.) Watch the footage for yourself and keep some Kleenex on hand!

SCREAM FACTORY ANNOUNCES TEN NEW TITLES
It's common knowledge that I am a huge Scream Factory (and Shout! Factory) junkie. So when I heard that they were announcing TEN new titles to their horror catalog, I waited with bated breath to see what they had planned. I was not disappointed.

CLICK IMAGE FOR A CLOSER VIEW!

HO-LEE SCHNIKES! LOOK AT THAT! LOOK AT IT! I guess I can kiss my savings account goodbye now! I haven't seen WOMEN'S PRISON MASSACRE, BLOOD AND LACE, NIGHTMARES, or THE GUARDIAN, so I'm excited for those, but I'm really psyched for TROLL (which will be paired with TROLL 2), GHOST STORY, THE CAR, and DEATH BECOMES HER.

I already own RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, but I'll prob double dip because the Scream Factory release will probably blow the current MGM Blu-ray out of the water. And I'll most likely pick up THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS movie because I am a glutton for punishment. I know it's awful, but dammit, it was a staple of my twisted childhood and I must have it!

The con is still going strong as I type all of this, so don't be surprised if I make yet another post featuring more news and updates from the SDCC. Regardless, GET PUMPED because the final quarter of 2015 is shaping up to be AMAZING!
