Scream Factory's lone release this week is their Collector's Edition of John Carpenter's ESCAPE FROM L.A., Vinegar Syndrome rescued DOLLY DEAREST from obscurity and brought it to Blu-ray disc, Mondo Macabro brought both AN IDEAL PLACE TO KILL and SATANICO PANDEMONIUM to Blu, while Severin Films hit us with a trio of new titles, namely THE HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND, SATAN'S SLAVE, and THE STRANGE VICE OF MRS. WARDH.

As January 2020 heads towards it's conclusion, we get a slight reprieve this week. The release slate of new DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4K Ultra HD discs isn't very big - probably because our pals at Scream Factory and Arrow Video seem to have taken a week off. And honestly that's not a bad thing because February is shaping up to be a really expensive month!

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has the most new releases today with their new Blu-rays of HIGH-BALLIN', SEMI-TOUGH, TOBRUK, ULTZANA'S RAID, and THE WAR LORD, and VCI is a close second with their new releases of THE PHANTOM CREEPS and GORDON OF GHOST CITY serials, as well as their new 25th Anniversary double feature of MOMMY & MOMMY 2!

Universal brings KITTEN WITH A WHIP to Blu-ray for the first time along with last year's horror flop COUNTDOWN, Lionsgate debuts Kevin Smith's JAY & SILENT BOB REBOOT, and for fans of "zombedy" flicks, you get your choice of ZOMBIELAND 2: DOUBLE TAP and last year's LITTLE MONSTERS (Region A Import) which features Lupita Nyong'o and Josh Gad!

But this week's big winner simply has to be Blue Underground's stellar 3-Disc Limited Edition Blu-ray of Lucio Fulci's HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY! Out of all the Italian Horror filmmakers that were cranking out movies in the 70s and 80s, I always liked Lucio Fulci the best. I enjoyed the bold absurdity of ZOMBI 2's shark vs. zombie sequence, and gawked at the gore in THE BEYOND and CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD (aka GATES OF HELL) while I tried to figure out just what the hell was going on! And though it isn't my favorite of Fulci's "Gates of Hell trilogy" (though it does have quite a memorable bat attack) I am quite glad to see HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY get the royal treatment from Blue Underground! Boasting a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative, plus new special features and other goodies, this 3-Disc release is easily a must-have for fans of Italian Horror cinema!

But this is no ordinary house in the country: the previous owner was the deranged Dr. Freudstein, whose monstrous human experiments have left a legacy of bloody mayhem. On paper, it's a movie that I should love with every ounce of my being - Based (loosely) upon the works of Edgar Allen Poe, TWO EVIL EYES was directed by George A. Romero and Dario Argento, scored by Pino Donaggio, features effects by Tom Savini, and stars Adrienne Barbeau (one of my pre-teen celebrity crushes)! And yet I never had the urge to watch it again... until now!

Greetings Vault Dwellers, and welcome to THE final Stock Your Vault post of November 2018! Thankfully we have a rather light slate of new DVDs & Blu-rays this week, which should help you save a little dough for the Christmas season!

Blue Underground just released their new 3-Disc Limited Edition Blu-ray of Lucio Fulci's ZOMBIE, Code Red brings ALMOST HUMAN to Blu-ray disc, Shout! Factory re-releases Volume 8 of their Mystery Science Theater 3000 boxed sets, and the Warner Archive Collection finally debuts their delayed Blu-ray release of BREWSTER MCCLOUD!

In Region B news, Studiocanal just released newly restored Blu-ray editions of John Carpenter's ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and PRINCE OF DARKNESS, and 88 Films dropped their new Blus for STUDENT BODIES and their BEST OF 80S SCREAM QUEENS set, which contains NIGHTMARE SISTERS, MURDER WEAPON, and DEADLY EMBRACE!

I've been meaning to see THE LIFT, ever since I read a review for it over at BadMovies.Org so many years ago! THE LIFT (1983)

Synopsis: There is something very wrong with the elevator in a stylish office high-rise. The passengers never end up on the floor of their choice. They end up dead! Some dark, distorted power has gained control of the elevator for its own evil design. Blue Underground delivers a Limited Edition 3-Disc set of MANHATTAN BABY, Severin Films gives BURIAL GROUND (aka THE NIGHTS OF TERROR) a superb Blu-ray disc, and Arrow Video conquers all with their 17-disc Limited (to 2,500) HERSCHELL GORDON LEWIS FEAST! It's expensive to be sure, but a great way to enjoy the works of the late "Godfather of Gore!"
