"DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS" GETS A NEW 4K RESTORATION, HOURS OF EXTRAS, AND A SOUNDTRACK CD IN THIS 3-DISC LIMITED EDITION!
I've gotta admit Vault Dwellers, I'm kind of out of my element on this one as I've never seen DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS before, but if it's good enough for Bill Lustig to release, then I guess it's good enough for me to watch! Harry Kumel's artsy tale of vampirism truly received the royal treatment for this release, which boasts a 4K restoration struck from an original negative, various new & existing bonus features, a lenticular cover, collectible booklet, and the soundtrack CD! If any of that piqued your curiosity or made you drool a tad, then keep reading to learn more about this latest addition to Blue Underground's catalog!
Synopsis: International screen icon Delphine Seyrig (LAST YEAR AT MARIENBAD) stars as Elizabeth Bathory, an ageless Countess with a beautiful young companion (Goth goddess Andrea Rau) and a legendary legacy of perversion. But when the two women seduce a troubled newlywed couple (Canadian beauty Danielle Ouimet and John Karlen of Dark Shadows and Cagney & Lacey), they unleash a frenzy of sudden violence and depraved desire that shocked both art house audiences and grindhouse crowds worldwide.
Co-written and directed by Harry Kümel, DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS remains one of the most exquisitely mesmerizing adult horror films ever made. Blue Underground is now proud to present the uncensored Director s Cut of this classic psychosexual shocker in a gorgeous restoration, scanned in 4K 16-bit from its long-lost original 35mm camera negative, with Dolby Vision HDR and a new Dolby Atmos audio mix, packed with revealing extras!

THE 2018 DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE BELOVED CULT CLASSIC "THE MONSTER SQUAD," FINALLY MAKES ITS WAY TO BLU-RAY DISC!
Fred Dekker's THE MONSTER SQUAD is one of the few films from my childhood that has held up to my adult scrutiny - honestly I think I love it more now than I did then. In fact, I just watched it the other day after putting it on for two of my visiting tween nieces. They seemed to like what they saw... in between the moments they weren't glued to their phones or fussing over their baby cousin.
And now, the ultimate companion piece to THE MONSTER SQUAD is here with the Blu-ray release of Andre Gower's WOLFMAN'S GOT NARDS, a feature-length documentary about the making of the film and it's gradual rise from a box-office flop, to a full-fledged classic with a massive fan-base! The disc seems to be bare bones, but I truly do not care and cannot wait until this upcoming Halloweekend to inject this massive dose of nostalgia into my eyeballs!
Synopsis: When it was released in 1987, THE MONSTER SQUAD was deemed a failure by critics and was, according to the box office, a film no one cared about. But over the last three decades, word of mouth has turned this sleeping hit into a cultural phenomenon.
Disc Specs: Not Rated | Color | 88 minutes | Region A Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.78:1) Audio - English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0

WOLFMAN'S GOT NARDS arrives on Blu-ray today and should cost between $14 - $20! If you're a fellow MONSTER SQUAD fan like yours truly, then pick up a copy of this fantastic-looking doc now from AMAZON or BULL MOOSE!
Greetings Vault Dwellers and welcome to your weekly fix of all things DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD disc-related! This week (especially in comparison to the previous and upcoming release slates) is pretty light, but there definitely some cool new titles to add to your growing collections!
Scream Factory just re-released PUMPKINHEAD in a beautiful new steelbook, Universal released their latest entry into the "graboid" franchise, namely TREMORS: SHRIEKER ISLAND, and the Shudder original SCARE PACKAGE just made its debut on DVD & Blu-ray!
This week's big winner simply has to be Kino Lorber Studio Classics. Along with the classic 1940 thriller THE APE, a Louis Jourdan double feature of FEAR NO EVIL & RITUAL OF EVIL, and PICTURE MOMMY DEAD, they've also managed to bring a blast from our collective pasts to Blu-ray for the first time ever: KILLDOZER! This made-for-TV cult classic has received a new 2K transfer, and a pair of new audio commentaries, and even comes complete with a cardboard slipcover!
There are plenty of other new titles out this week - scroll down to peep 'em all out my friends!

PREPARE TO DOUBLE-DIP ON STAN WINSTON'S "PUMPKINHEAD" - NOW WITH A NEW 4K TRANSFER AND GORGEOUS STEELBOOK PACKAGING!
I keep joking that Scream Factory has become the new Anchor Bay because they keep re-releasing certain titles with new packaging and/or transfers - case in point, their new steelbook of PUMPKINHEAD. Originally released by Scream Factory as a perfectly acceptable Collector's Edition back in September of 2014, this beloved creature feature has been given a noticeable video upgrade, contains all of the previous Blu-ray's special features, and comes housed in a beautifully-designed Steelbook case! Whether you already own this film on Blu-ray yet or not, you have to admit that this is definitely pretty damned enticing! Let's take a closer look, shall we?
Synopsis: When a group of teenagers inadvertently kill his only son, Ed Harley (Lance Henriksen - ALIENS) seeks the powers of a backwoods witch to bring the child back to life. But instead, she invokes "Pumpkinhead" – a monstrously clawed demon which, once reborn, answers only to Ed's bloodlust. But as the creature wreaks its slow, unspeakable tortures on the teens, Ed confronts a horrifying secret about his connection to the beast – and realizes that he must find a way to stop its deadly mission before he becomes one with the creature forever. A terrifying parable of revenge and possession, PUMPKINHEAD also stars Jeff East (DEADLY BLESSING), Joel Hoffman (SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE II), and Kerry Remsen (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE).
Disc Specs: Rated R | Color | 86 minutes | Region A Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.85:1) Audio - English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 & 2.0 Stereo

Though it doesn't bring much else new to the table other than a new transfer and packaging (which will likely be eclipsed by the inevitable 4K Ultra HD release), Scream Factory's limited edition steelbook of PUMPKINHEAD is perty to look at, and a definite must-own title in its own right! This re-release is currently going for prices between $23 - $29, and can be ordered right now from AMAZON, BULL MOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from SHOUT! FACTORY!
JERRY LONDON'S MADE-FOR-TV CULT CLASSIC GETS A NEW 2K TRANSFER AND BONUS FEATURES FROM KINO LORBER!
Well chalk up yet another film that I never thought would never get a proper Blu-ray release! Though I missed out seeing it back in 1974 (mostly because I was born in '83), I eventually saw KILLDOZER maybe a decade ago thanks to a bootleg obtained at a horror con and... it was kinda neat! And now this made-for-TV cult classic will be widely available for all to see thanks to the efforts of Kino Lorber Studio Classics!
The film has received a brand new 2K transfer (meaning it will look a thousand times better than it did when it first appeared on television in '74!) and contains some great new extras featuring director Jerry London! If you're a KILLDOZER fan, then just stop here and order a copy ASAP. But if you need a little more of a push to add this one to your collection, then read onward Vault Dwellers!
Synopsis: A small construction crew battles the ultimate assassin in the cult classic KILLDOZER. Stationed on a small island off the coast of Africa, six men find themselves terrorized when a ruthless life-form takes over a bulldozer and then sets off on a killing rampage. Despite limited fuel, the renegade machine methodically hunts down the men one by one in a full-throttle drive to death. Buckle up and hold on tight in this turbo-charged thriller! Directed by Jerry London (Shogun) and starring screen and TV legend Clint Walker (THE DIRTY DOZEN, Cheyenne) with Robert Urich (Vega$, THE ICE PIRATES) and Neville Brand (STALAG 17, KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL). KILLDOZER is based on a novel by acclaimed television writer Theodore Sturgeon (Star Trek, The Twilight Zone) and features a rousing score by Gil Mellé (THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN, Night Gallery).

Hey gang! Welcome to another late edition of The B-Movie News Vault's STOCK YOUR VAULT column! Work and parenthood have been seriously messing with any and all attempts to get new content up, but I'm working my way through it. And while I did miss out on posting last week's new DVD & Blu-ray releases, I just couldn't skip another week because there's a lot of awesome stuff out this past Tuesday!
Arrow Video dropped new Blu-rays of Kevin Smith's MALLRATS and the Japanese sci-fi oddity WARNING FROM SPACE, Kino Lorber Studio Classics' delivered a stellar Special Edition Blu of DEEPSTAR SIX and a new steelbook of RAWHEAD REX, and Mill Creek Entertainment brought the Jack Nicholson psychological thriller THE PLEDGE, and yet another Ultraman series to Blu-ray, namely ULTRAMAN R/B!
Along with the release of TERROR IN THE AISLES and a new steelbook of MOTEL HELL (featuring a new 4K scan and cool artwork!), Scream's big claim to fame was the release of all twelve FRIDAY THE 13TH films in one huge set! While there have been problems reported, this is still a very impressive release from Scream Factory! The first four films have been remastered in 4K, there are theatrical and extended cuts of the original film, JASON GOES TO HELL, and the 2009 remake, dozens of new (and archival) audio commentaries, cast & crew interviews, behind-the-scenes featurettes, documentaries, plus a legit 3D version of Part 3!
There were tons of other titles released to DVD & Blu-ray this past week as well - for the full roster just keep scrolling!

SCREAM FACTORY LEAPS OVER VARIOUS HURDLES TO BRING "FRIDAY THE 13TH" FANS THE COMPLETE SERIES IN ONE GORGEOUS BOXED SET!
Before I even dig into the details of this set, yes I am fully aware of the issues that some collectors have discovered about this set. If you have already purchased this collection, CLICK HERE to take advantage of Scream Factory's Blu-ray Replacement Program! You just need to pop in your name, address, phone number, and send in a picture of your proof of purchase (i.e. a receipt). Doing so will get replacement Blu-rays for FRIDAY THE 13TH 3D, JASON GOES TO HELL: THE FINAL FRIDAY, and JASON X!
Also, I've heard reports of people receiving sets that are missing one of the films (usually meaning they ended up with two copies of one of the other FRIDAY THE 13TH sequels) and finding smudges, scratches, and even fingerprints on the bottom of their discs. So if you ordered a copy of this boxed set, immediately look things over to make sure all is well. If not, contact Shout! Factory customer service ASAP, and get your request for replacement discs done now so that you can get the fixed copies in November! Now, moving on....

Easter Egg
Back in January, I threw out a prediction that this set would become a reality by November 13, 2020, and it turns out that I was just a month off! But even I couldn't BEGIN to surmise that the end result would be a sixteen-disc beast with so much restoration work, and so many hours upon hours of special features!
And sure, while we all would have liked to have seen an extended cut of PART VII: THE NEW BLOOD (that footage is likely lost for all eternity sadly), and even though there have been some issues with the final product (as stated way up top), this is a FANTASTIC release and likely the closest we'll ever get to a definitive collection! So what's the price of this monster? Depending on where you go it goes for between $130 - $160, which isn't bad considering that you get a dozen feature-length films, multiple documentaries, and two bonus discs loaded with content.
If you're ready to pull the trigger on this set, snap up a copy now (because it's probably going to be out for a limited time, much like Scream Factory's out of print HALLOWEEN COLLECTION) from AMAZON, BULL MOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from SHOUT! FACTORY. And while you wait for your set to arrive in the mail, head on over to THE B-MOVIE FILM VAULT'S FRIDAY THE 13TH ARCHIVES to read reviews, articles, and lists that all center around my absolute favorite Horror franchise!
Scream Factor's Deluxe Edition of THE FRIDAY THE 13TH COLLECTION comes with everything seen here!
MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT BRINGS THIS FORGOTTEN FILM SERIES TO BLU-RAY DISC FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!
In 1943, Universal Pictures obtained the rights to adapt six tales from the then popular Inner Sanctum Mystery radio plays into feature-length motion pictures. Starring the late Lon Chaney Jr., these six tales of murder and intrigue remained largely forgotten. But with every "boutique" label raiding the vaults of the big studios these days (e.g. Kino Lorber Studio Classics' Film Noir collections and Scream Factory's Universal Horror Collections), it was only a matter of time before someone dug these up - and that someone turned out to be Mill Creek Entertainment! Now all six Inner Sanctum Mystery films have made their Blu-ray debut and come complete with a number of great special features including audio commentaries, interviews, and an hour-long documentary, and some super cool digital extras! Read onward to find out more about this new release Vault Dwellers!
Synopses: Death, dementia, dark arts... it's just another day in the forbidding and fascinating world of the Inner Sanctum! Get ready for unlimited thrills and chills as all six classic Inner Sanctum Mysteries come to Blu-ray for the first time ever. Based on the popular radio shows of the 1940's, this collectible set is a must-own for every classic mystery and horror fan. You'll have a hauntingly good time with horror icon Lon Chaney, Jr., as he gives timeless performances in these spooky feature-length films:
Calling Dr. Death (1943) - A doctor is not sure if he murdered his wife and has his nurse try to find the truth by hypnotizing him.
Weird Woman (1944) - While on a trip, a professor falls in love with an exotic native woman who turns out to be a supernatural being.
Dead Man's Eyes (1944) - When an artist is blinded, an operation to restore his sight depends on another person willing to donate their eyes.
The Frozen Ghost (1945) - A stage mentalist and a discredited plastic surgeon are involved in mysterious goings-on in an eerie wax museum.
Strange Confession (1945) - Flashbacks reveal the events leading up to a man's revenge on the racketeer who took advantage of his wife.
Pillow of Death (1945) - A lawyer in love with his secretary is suspected of suffocating his wife, among others.

SCREAM FACTORY'S LATEST BLU-RAY TITLE IS A BLAST FROM THE PAST AND SHOULD BE A REAL TREAT FOR HORROR FANS!
Back during that wonderful period of my life where I was young and carefree, and made frequent trips to the nearby mom & pop video store (Electric City Video.... how I miss thee), I recall seeing the VHS cover for TERROR IN THE AISLES hiding in the Horror section. It was always one of those tapes I'd pick up and look at repeatedly, but never get around to renting. When I finally did get to sit down and watch this (mostly) 80s Horror doc it was during the death knell of both VHS and the video rental business when I bought a copy for just a few bucks.
But I eventually got rid of my large collection of tapes in order to upgrade to DVD (and eventually Blu-ray) and I wouldn't see TERROR IN THE AISLES again until Universal included it as a throwaway extra on their HALLOWEEN II Blu-ray. But now it looks like it could be time to upgrade again with Scream Factory's new release of this curiosity. Along with new cast & crew interviews, there will be a new audio commentary, trailers and TV spots, and the rare longer TV edit! For the full details of this 2-disc set and where you can obtain a copy, read onward Vault Dwellers!
Synopsis: SOME OF THE SCARIEST MOMENTS IN FILM HISTORY IN ONE TERRIFYING FILM! "SEA EVIL" WITH SCREAM FACTORY'S NEW BLU-RAY RELEASE OF THE 2002 DARK CASTLE FRIGHT FLICK!
I vaguely recall the days of my youth when Dark Castle Entertainment first came on the scene with their fairly decent remake of HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL. It had a great cast and atmosphere but I felt that they totally botched the climax. Then came THIR13EN GHOSTS, another fairly solid remake of a William Castle classic, which was shortly followed by GHOST SHIP, an original feature film that has one of the most memorable opening sequences you'll see in just about any horror movie. The only thing is.... that's all I truly do remember about this tale of a haunted derelict vessel being found by a salvage team at sea. And what better way to revisit this film than with Scream Factory's new Collector's Edition release, that comes with a new director's commentary, multiple new cast & crew interviews, and a multitude of archival making of featurettes!
Synopsis: Finders keepers. Any abandoned ship floating in international waters can be claimed and towed to port by whomever is fortunate enough to find it. Or, in the case of one team of salvage experts, unfortunate enough.
In this stylish, effects-packed chiller from Dark Castle Entertainment, salvagers trained for any situation imaginable come face to horrifying face with the unimaginable after boarding a derelict luxury liner. Julianna Margulies, Gabriel Byrne, Ron Eldard and Isaiah Washington are among the hands on deck who'll confront a seafaring collector of souls. Steve Beck (THIR13EN GHOSTS) directs this frightful chiller!
