Want to be the Life of the Party? - Add APRIL FOOL'S DAY to Your Blu-ray Collection Today!

Cover art for Scream Factory's Collector's Edition of APRIL FOOL'S DAY (1986)!
SCREAM FACTORY BRINGS FRED WALTON'S CLASSIC 80S HORROR FLICK TO BLU-RAY WITH A SLEW OF NEW CAST & CREW INTERVIEWS!

During the big slasher boom of the 80s, filmmakers were constantly trying to up the body counts of their films, or find new ways to murder people onscreen. It was a wonderful era of "anything goes" with producers throwing money at just about any fright flick, no matter how absurd the premise, or outrageous the kills! In the midst of all of this, came Fred Walton's little mystery-chiller APRIL FOOL'S DAY. Once a black sheep of the slasher sub-genre, this low-budget whodunnit has since earned a faithful cult following! And now, thanks to Scream Factory, APRIL FOOL'S DAY has finally made the leap to Blu-ray disc! Let's take a closer look Vault Dwellers!

Synopsis: When Muffy St. John (Deborah Foreman - VALLEY GIRL) invited her college friends up to her parents' secluded island home for the time of their lives, she just forgot to tell them it just might be the last time of their lives.

As soon as the kids arrive on the island, someone starts trimming the guest list ... one murder at a time. And what starts out as a weekend of harmless "April Fool's Day" pranks turns into a bloody battle for survival.

It's just what you'd expect from the producer who brought you BODY PARTS, SPECIES, and three of the FRIDAY THE 13TH films!

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color | 89 minutes | Region A

Well Go USA brings the steampunk fantasy-adventure ABIGAIL to DVD & Blu-ray today, Scorpion Releasing gives RAW COURAGE its DVD & Blu-ray debut, and the holiday-themed slasher HANUKKAH comes to home video!

Scream Factory's lone release this week is their UNIVERSAL HORROR COLLECTION: VOLUME 4 set, which contains NIGHT KEY, NIGHT MONSTER, THE CLIMAX, and HOUSE OF HORRORS, Glenn Danzig's hot mess VEROTIKA arrives in a Blu-ray/DVD/CD combo release, and Mill Creek Entertainment brings another pair of Andy Sidaris classics to Blu-ray, namely FIT TO KILL and HARD HUNTED!

Dark Force Entertainment surprisingly found distribution outside of their own online store, and unleashed numerous new titles on Blu-ray today, including: FREEWAY 2: CONFESSIONS OF A TRICK BABY, THE LONERS & DRAGON VS. NEEDLE OF DEATH (double feature), MIRROR MIRROR, MIRROR MIRROR 2: RAVEN DANCE, and POINT DOOM! But the winner this week (in my opinion) is Kino Lorber Studio Classics, who have graced us with the first ever Blu-ray release of Antonio Margheriti's CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE! (As well as FORCE 10 FROM NAVARONE and MAN IN THE SHADOW!) This Italian exploitation shocker boasts a new 4K restoration, audio commentary, interviews, documentary, and more!

UNIVERSAL HORROR COLLECTION: VOLUME 4 Gives Another Quartet of Classic Fright Flicks A New Lease on Life!

Cover art for Scream Factory's UNIVERSAL HORROR COLLECTION: VOL. 4!
SCREAM FACTORY'S SERIES OF UNIVERSAL HORROR SETS FEATURES FOUR MORE CLASSIC FILMS FEATURING BELA LUGOSI, BORIS KARLOFF, AND RONDO HATTON!

Money has been tight lately, so I've abstained from adding any of Scream Factory's UNIVERSAL HORROR COLLECTIONS to my own personal collection. A pity, because they've been putting out some great stuff in these sets and this latest one is no exception! The four films in this UNIVERSAL HORROR COLLECTION features some of Horror's most iconic actors, including Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, and Rondo Hatton (the namesake for a certain Classic Horror Award that I've been eying up for years)! If you enjoy chillers from a bygone era, then considering picking up this collection today!

Synopses: Volume 4 of the UNIVERSAL HORROR COLLECTION includes four tales of terror from the archives of Universal Pictures, the true home of classic horror. This collection includes such horror stars as Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Lionel Atwill, and Rondo Hatton. Boris Karloff ignites the screen as an inventor who is kidnapped by a gang of burglars and forced to help them commit robberies in NIGHT KEY. Bela Lugosi stars in a creepy tale of strange characters, secret passages and a murderer who masters the art of "mind over matter" in NIGHT MONSTER. In THE CLIMAX, Karloff is terrifying as a mad doctor whose insane jealousy over a beautiful opera singer may drive him to murder. A giant of a man is used as an instrument of evil by a mad sculptor in HOUSE OF HORRORS.

Watch Out For Cannibals in the Streets! - Kino Lorber Brings CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE to Blu-ray on 03/17!

Cover art for Kino Lorber's new Blu-ray of CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE!
ANTONIO MARGHERITI'S EXPLOITATION CLASSIC FINALLY ARRIVES ON BLU-RAY DISC, THANKS TO THE EFFORTS OF KINO LORBER STUDIO CLASSICS!

2020, as awful as it's been so far, has been marked by an amazing series of Blu-ray announcements! And among the titles I've been most looking forward to was Antonio Margheriti's CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE. (Read my review for it HERE.) Featuring a great cast, a fantastic score, and one of the craziest character demises in film history, this Italian cannibal epic is finally coming back into print, with an all new 4K restoration and audio commentary! God Bless Kino Lorber Studio Classics for putting out this release!

Synopsis: The horrors of war take on a whole new meaning for Vietnam vet Norman Hopper (John Saxon - NIGHTMARE BEACH, EVIL EYE, QUEEN OF BLOOD), whose quiet domestic life in Atlanta is shattered by the return of Charlie Bukowski, a combat buddy who dredges up terrifying flashbacks of flesh eating and bloodshed in the war-torn jungles. Now on the run from the law after taking a bite out of an unwilling victim, Charlie begs Norman to help him get out of town with another fellow veteran, Tom (Tony King - REPORT TO THE COMMISSIONER, THE RAIDERS OF ATLANTIS).

Soon the ragtag team of cannibals are fighting for their lives, spreading a deadly contagion through the city before heading into the sewers for a gut-wrenching climax no one will soon forget! One of the most infamous Italian horror films of all time, CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE was heavily censored in many countries where it played under such titles as CANNIBALS IN THE STREETS and INVASION OF THE FLESH HUNTERS. Now you can finally experience this thrilling collision of action-packed combat and monstrous horror from cult director Antonio Margheriti (THE LONG HAIR OF DEATH, CASTLE OF BLOOD, TAKE A HAD RIDE, KILLER FISH) in its original gory splendor for the first time in fully restored HD! Not for the faint of heart or those with full stomachs!

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color | 96 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.66:1)
Audio - English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono

Extras:
  • NEW! 4K RESTORATION OF THE FILM!
  • NEW! Audio Commentary by Film Historian Tim Lucas!
  • CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE REDUX: Documentary Featuring John Saxon, John Morghen (Giovanni Lombardo Radice) and director Antonio Margheriti!
  • NEW! CANNIBAL KING: Interview with Actor Tony King!
  • APOCALYPSE IN THE STREETS: A Video Tour of Filming Locations

SCREAM FACTORY BRINGS JEANNOT SZWARC'S GIANT COCKROACH INVASION FLICK, AND WARREN J. NORMAN'S EXPLOITATION RIP-OFF OF "ALIEN" TO BLU-RAY DISC TODAY!

Though I haven't seen it in some time, BUG was one of the many "natural horror" films I grew up with back in the day, so naturally I have a soft spot for it. I am also equally excited for INSEMINOID, a film that has eluded me for decades. I mean come on: A British exploitation knock-off of Ridley Scott's ALIEN? I just gotta have it! Unfortunately, I have to cut way back on spending (since yours truly will be come a proud poppa six months from now), so I'll have to wait a while before I can add these to my collection. A massive earth tremor opens a crevasse in the California desert, releasing a plague of bizarre, fiery, foot-long cockroaches.

With their numbers multiplying and the death toll mounting, obsessive entomologist James Parmiter (Bradford Dillman - PIRANHA, THE SWARM) desperately seeks a way to eliminate the seemingly indestructible critters before they spread clear across the country ... and beyond! Joanna Miles (THE DARK SECRET OF HARVEST HOME) and Patty McCormack (THE BAD SEED) are among the terrorized cast in this suspenseful screamfest directed by Jeannot Szwarc (JAWS 2).

If These Walls Could Talk... They'd Scream! - EXIT 0 Comes to DVD on March 10th!

DVD cover art for Breaking Glass Pictures' EXIT 0 - Due out on March 10th, 2020!
BREAKING GLASS PICTURES RELEASES E.B. HUGHES' INDIE THRILLER TO DVD ON NEXT WEEK!

Though many films before it have already done the whole "couple go on a retreat to repair their relationship" storyline, E.B. Hughes' EXIT 0 puts an interesting twist on things. Stopping off at the secluded hotel called The Doctors Inn (ha!) for a weekend excursion, Lisa (Augie Duke) and Billy (Gabe Fazio) attempt to reconnect.

But after making a horrifying discovery in their hotel room, things swiftly go off the rails in this indie thriller that takes some inspiration from the films of Alfred Hitchcock, as well as Stanley Kubrick's THE SHINING.

Synopsis: A young couple who set out on a weekend getaway in hopes of mending their failing relationship. However, a seemingly innocent weekend turns dark when the man discovers a videotape chronicling the events of a murder in his very own hotel room from years before.
