Relive a Bygone Era with Dude Apparel's Collection of Awesome Video Store Staff T-Shirts!

Dude Apparel is an all-new clothing label from artist Tom Hodge aka The Dude Designs. If his name doesn't ring a bell, I guarantee you that you've seen his work Vault Dwellers! Along with creating the artwork for numerous Blu-ray covers (e.g. Vestron Collector's Series' WISHMASTER and WARLOCK collections, Scream Factory's THEY LIVE) and designing some fantastic movie posters (HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN, WOLFCOP, DEAR GOD NO!), Tom has also authored a book (VHS: Video Cover Art) and shot a short film entitled TEDDY BEAR'S PICNIC.

And now Tom is unveiling a mega-cool collection of totally unique shirts that will take you back to the good ole days when video rental stores reigned supreme! I myself actually worked in several mom & pop video stores for a number of years, but for those of you who never had the chance, you can partially live your fantasy thanks to Tom's VIDEO STORE STAFF COLLECTION 1!

Based on original 80s video stores for authenticity, Dude Apparel has revisited these bastions of the VHS rental boom and reinterpreted them with all new designs to create this collection of high-end fashion apparel for your viewing and wearing pleasure!  This new range of stylish video store staff tees, sweatshirts and women’s tank tops, come in ‘premium’ double-sided and ‘Standard’ single-sided options.

Which video store will YOU run?

A few words from Tom Hodge:
“I’m very proud to launch Dude Apparel after a year's planning and organization, with an inaugural collection that combines a lot of my passions: VHS, Vintage, and 80s/90s fashion.

I wanted to create a collection that had a conceptual edge behind it, something I have dreamed of finding in a vintage store… RADICAL VIDEO STORE STAFF TEES! I did a lot of research into the wording and phrasing too, which was used in the old video store paraphernalia, to create fashion items that have some cultural meaning behind them.

‘VHS’ Video collecting has really exploded globally in the past 3 years since I released VHS Video cover art. With tapes tripling in value from an average of 20p to £20+ now!

There is a real connection to VHS tapes and Video stores, the act of browsing the shelves of numerous salacious tape artworks for such incredible titles like NEON MANIACS, SURF NAZIS MUST DIE, BRONX WARRIORS, and THE VIDEO DEAD…They REALLY don’t make em’ like that anymore!

A weekend's entertainment was defined by the excitement of going to the video store - these numerous independent ‘mom and pop’ video stores which appeared everywhere and always had these wicked names like Videostar or Video Edge. They WERE the entertainment hub for a generation growing up in the 80s/90s and consequently have been ingrained emotionally in our psyches as adults. So I wanted to celebrate that and I’m beyond excited present you with the righteous Video Store Staff Collection 1.

And if these shirts take off, I'll get people to send in their favorite old video stores and I'll give them a rebirth in t-shirt form!”
_____________________________________________________________________

Now THAT is a cool idea! The mere thought of wearing the old Electric City Video logo on a shirt is definitely putting a big smile on my face, but the only way that can happen is if YOU buy Tom's new video store tees, so get to it Vault Dwellers!

Some Things Shouldn't Be Found in Alex DiVincenzo's THE MISPLACED!

THE DIRECTOR OF "BE US," "ROOT OF ALL EVIL," AND "TROUSER SNAKE" DELIVERS ANOTHER COOL HORROR SHORT!

About three years ago I watched Alex DiVincenzo's THE HORRORS OF AUTOCORRECT and I got a huge kick out of it! Now Alex is back (after several more successful genre shorts) with THE MISPLACED, in which a young woman discovers why things have been going missing around the house.

I liked Alex's concept for this short film, and he builds some great tension during its short running time. But as unnerving as the little twist at the end is, I felt like it was lacking something. It's good, but didn't quite deliver that "gotcha!" moment that you expect at the end of most horror tales. My nitpicking aside, THE MISPLACED is definitely worth a look, so be sure to give it a shot if you've got four minutes to kill!

Additional Info: THE MISPLACED was directed, co-written, and edited by Alex DiVincenzo, whose previous effort, BE US, is currently nominated for Best Short Film at the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards.

Jamie Lyn Bagley and co-writer T.J. Frizzi star in the film, which packs a chilling premise into a mere four minutes. It premiered to a sold-out audience at the 2018 Boston Underground Film Festival.

"I find horror to be most effective when it invades the home," explains DiVincenzo, "so I drew inspiration from films I love that embrace that atmosphere, like John Carpenter's Halloween and The Strangers, to tell what I hope to be a similarly unsettling story."

THE MISPLACED is the latest genre short from DiVincenzo and Lockbridge Productions, whose previous work includes THE HORRORS OF AUTOCORRECT (distributed by Eli Roth’s Crypt TV), CYBERSHOCK 1999 (distributed by Troma Entertainment), and the 48 Hour Film Project winner ROOT OF ALL EVIL.

To keep up with Alex DiVincenzo's future projects, be sure to follow Lockbridge Productions on Facebook, and subscribe to their YouTube Channel!

Arrow Video Brings KEOMA to Blu-ray on April 16th With An All New 2K Restoration & Hours of Extras!

ONE OF THE GREATEST SPAGHETTI WESTERNS OF ALL TIME GETS A STELLAR BLU-RAY RELEASE!

I was never a big fan of Westerns growing up (quite frankly I found them boring), but then I stumbled across Sergio Leone's ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, and my life changed forever. After that I watched his "Man With No Name Trilogy," the SABATA films, DJANGO, the TRINITY series, and numerous others. And yet I've somehow missed out on KEOMA, which apparently is one of the best in the entire sub-genre. I think it's high time I check it out, now that Arrow Video has taken the trouble to release this amazing Special Edition Blu-ray of Enzo G. Castellari's highly-praised film!

Synopsis: A strikingly original spaghetti western with a unique elegiac tone, Keoma truly is a one-of-a-kind classic of its genre…

The legendary Franco Nero (DJANGO, THE FIFTH CORD) stars in the titular role as a half-breed gunfighter who returns from the killing fields of the civil war to find his hometown riddled with the plague, its inhabitants terrorized (with the help of Keoma’s own estranged half-brothers) by tyrannical gang leader Caldwell (Donald O'Brien - ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST).

Keoma’s father (Willian Berger - SABATA, SARTANA IN THE VALLEY OF DEATH) welcomes his prodigal son’s return, but when Keoma saves a vulnerable pregnant woman (Olga Karlatos - ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS) from Caldwell's thugs, the stage is set for a violent confrontation. With the help of his father and his friend, the freed slave George (Woody Strode - SPARTACUS), Keoma prepares to take a savage revenge on Caldwell and his gang.

Directed with immense flair and virtuosity by veteran Enzo G. Castellari (who channels Sam Peckinpah and Sergio Leone in equal measure), KEOMA is an epic film of Shakespearean and biblical proportions, which boasts compelling performances and thrilling violent action. Truly epic in scope, KEOMA is considered by many to be one of the greatest spaghetti westerns.

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color | 101 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (2.35:1)
Audio - Uncompressed 1.0 LPCM Mono (English & Italian)

Extras:

A VAMPIRE IS HUNTED BY HIS BASTARD SON & TONY CURTIS BATTLES AN EVIL PINT-SIZED MEDICINE MAN IN SCREAM FACTORY'S TWO NEWEST TITLES!

Scream Factory is about to release two awesome movies to Blu-ray for the first time on Tuesday! GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE has been on my radar for a number of years and I've never watched it... even though I actually own a copy on DVD. As for THE MANITOU, I've always been a big William Girdler fan so the Blu-ray release of this film has gotten me pretty excited! I've always had a soft spot for this bflick, which features one of the most insane endings you will ever witness! Still not sold on my enthusiasm alone? Then let's take a closer look at both of these new Scream titles!

GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE (1972)

A brutal attack on a pair of lovers allows for his desire to be temporarily fulfilled ... but his unspeakable acts leave the woman pregnant with his child. THE MANITOU (1978)

But when Karen reaches out to former lover and phony psychic Harry Erskine (Tony Curtis), she discovers that she is possessed by the reincarnation of a 400-year-old Native American demon.

Now with the help of a modern-day medicine man (Michael Ansara), Erskine must survive this ancient evil’s rampage of shocking violence and forever destroy the enraged beast known as THE MANITOU.

Beware of THE IGUANA WITH THE TONGUE OF FIRE - Now available on Blu-ray Disc!

RICCARDO FREDA'S OBSCURE GIALLO GETS A NEW 2K RESTORATION AND EXTRAS COURTESY OF ARROW VIDEO!

I am a neophyte when it comes to giallo films, but I'm always willing to give them a watch. (Argento's DEEP RED remains my all-time favorite, just in case you were wondering.) That being said, THE IGUANA WITH THE TONGUE OF FIRE (which is a totally bad-ass movie title) sounds like something I'd love to see! And thanks to Arrow Video, we can all experience this oft-forgotten giallo for the first time in crystal clear HD!

Synopsis: One of several 'animal-in-the-title' cash-ins released in the wake of Dario Argento's box-office smash THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE, THE IGUANA WITH THE TONGUE OF FIRE is a gloriously excessive giallo that boasts a rogues gallery of perverse characters; violent, fetishized murders, and one of the genre's most nonsensical, red-herring laden plots (which sees almost every incidental character hinted at potentially being the killer).

Set in Dublin (a rather surprising giallo setting), IGUANA opens audaciously with an acid-throwing, razor-wielding maniac brutally slaying a woman in her own home. The victim's mangled corpse is discovered in a limousine owned by Swiss Ambassador Sobiesky (Anton Diffring - WHERE EAGLES DARE) and a police investigation is launched, but when the murdering continues and the ambassador claims diplomatic immunity, tough ex-cop John Norton (Luigi Pistilli - A BAY OF BLOOD) is brought in to find the killer…

Benefiting from a sumptuous score by Stelvio Cipriani (NIGHTMARE CITY, DEATH WALKS ON HIGH HEELS) and exuberant supporting performances from Valentina Cortese (THE POSSESSED, THIEVES' HIGHWAY), and Dagmar Lassander (THE FRIGHTENED WOMAN, THE BLACK CAT), THE IGUANA WITH THE TONGUE OF FIRE is a luridly over-the-top latter-day entry in the filmography of acclaimed director Riccardo Freda (CALTIKI: THE IMMORTAL MONSTER, MURDER OBSESSION). An archetypal giallo from the genre's heyday, Freda's film is presented here in a stunning new restoration with a host of newly produced extras!

Disc Specs:
Not Rated | Color | 96 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.85:1)
Audio - English & Italian DTS-HD Master Audio Mono

Extras:
  • NEW! 2K RESTORATION FROM THE 35MM CAMERA NEGATIVE!
  • Original English and Italian soundtracks, titles and credits.
  • NEW! Audio commentary by giallo connoisseurs Adrian J. Smith and David Flint!
  • NEW! Of Chameleons and Iguanas - A newly filmed video appreciation by the cultural critic and academic Richard Dyer!
  • NEW! Considering Cipriani - A new appreciation of the composer Stelvio Cipriani and his score to The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire by DJ and soundtrack collector Lovely Jon!
  • NEW! The Cutting Game - A new interview with Iguana's assistant editor Bruno Micheli!
  • The Red Queen of Hearts - A career-spanning interview with the actress Dagmar Lassander!
  • Original Italian and international theatrical trailers!
  • Image gallery
  • Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Graham Humphreys!
  • First pressing only: Collector's booklet featuring new writing on the film by Andreas Ehrenreich.
THE IGUANA WITH THE TONGUE OF FIRE has gotten a new lease on life, and to celebrate you should snap up a copy ASAP! This Arrow Video title should cost between $24 - $28 and is easily obtainable from AMAZON, BULL MOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from ARROW VIDEO'S online store!

A prospector who turns to crime and opium after failing at gold mining, Dan Morgan spends six brutal years in prison before terrorizing country Victoria with a young Aboriginal, David Gulpilil (WALKABOUT, THE TRACKER).

Having escaped into NSW, the bush ranger and his accomplice easily dodge the police and mercilessly intimidate the wealthy land owners but wracked by madness and a lust to avenge an earlier attack from an irate squatter, the notorious Mad Dog makes a perilous journey back into Victoria.
