An Urban Legend Reborn: Jeremy Sumrall's Supernatural Slasher PICKAXE is Now Available to Rent or Own!

THE FURY OF ALEX BLACK HAS BEEN UNLEASHED UPON THE MASSES, WITH THE DVD & DIGITAL RELEASE OF "PICKAXE!"

I adore MY BLOODY VALENTINE, and really enjoyed its remake, but both films never quite deliver on the promise of an undead miner with a (pick)axe to grind! (Sorry for spoilers!) That's where Jeremy Sumrall comes in, with this ode to 80s Horror!

Featuring Tiffany Shepis (SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE, ABOMINABLE, VICTOR CROWLEY ) and A. Michael Baldwin (the PHANTASM series), PICKAXE delivers on a marauding miner seeking bloody vengeance from beyond the grave! To learn more about Jeremy Sumrall's PICKAXE (formerly THE PICK-AXE MURDERS PART III: THE FINAL CHAPTER) and where you can obtain a copy, continue reading Vault Dwellers!

Synopsis: 1982 - The survivors of a series of brutal killings in a small town thought mass murderer Alex Black was dead and buried after the townspeople put an end to him. But teenagers experimenting with the occult awaken the monster from his grave and he begins another rampage of terror with his favorite tool: A pickaxe! Only those who have faced him before have any chance of stopping Alex Black once and for all.

As stated above, PICKAXE is actually a repackaging of Jeremy Sumrall's 2014 film, THE PICK-AXE MURDERS PART III: THE FINAL CHAPTER (which was not a sequel to anything - apparently some people missed that joke!) and features plenty of boobs and blood to sate most horror and slasher film fans!

The DVD from Wild Eye Releasing is bare bones and currently available for $12.99 at AMAZON! But if you want to try it before you buy it (or prefer digital streaming/downloading) you can watch PICKAXE on AMAZON PRIME VIDEO: It's $4.99 to rent and $9.99 to own! (Note: The digital version is listed as 76 minutes long. I don't know if it is actually shorter, or if that was a mistake on Amazon's part. I'll update this post when I find out for sure!)

WILD EYE RELEASING BRINGS TODD SHEETS' MASHUP OF KILLER CLOWNS AND NATURAL DISASTERS TO DVD!

In the aftermath of SHARKNADO and LAVALANTULA, I guess it was only a matter of time before a movie like this would come to pass. From director Todd Sheets (BONEHILL ROAD, HI-DEATH, GRINDSPLOITATION) comes CLOWNADO, a film about evil clowns that have the power to create tornadoes? Huh... I will say this, you gotta give Todd Sheets some extra points for creativity.

Synopsis: A troupe of murderous circus clowns are trapped in a tornado by a witches' spell and travel the midwest destroying everything and everyone in their path while seeking revenge on the woman who imprisoned them. Along the way a stripper, Elvis impersonator, truck driver, teen runaway, and a dude get caught up in the supernatural showdown between a femme fatale and the boss clown from hell.

A Sea God Awakens in SOFT MATTER - Now Available on DVD and VOD!

GRAFITTI ARTISTS BATTLE AN ANCIENT EVIL IN THIS NEW HORROR-COMEDY FROM FIRST-TIME DIRECTOR JIM HICKOX!

When I'm not desperately trying to keep up with upcoming Blu-ray titles, Horror tees & toys, and other stuff that I think all of you Vault Dwellers would find interesting, I try my level best to help promote independent cinema! Speaking of which, today I'd like to shine a spotlight on the directorial debut of Jim Hickox, namely SOFT MATTER! I'm a sucker for creature features (especially when practical f/x is involved), so I'm definitely planning on checking this one out when I finally have a legit day off!

Synopsis: Two graffiti artists break into an abandoned (and reportedly haunted) research facility in hopes of creating an art installation, but stumble upon a team of demented researchers who are in the process of resurrecting an ancient sea creature! Wild Eye Releasing Wants You to Stay at the HOUSE ON ELM LAKE!

WELCOME TO THE "HOUSE ON ELM LAKE" WHERE THE ROOMS ARE TO DIE FOR! NOW AVAILABLE TO STREAM ON DEMAND!

If a deal on a house seems too good to be true, then it probably is. I'm sure that's the main lesson learned by the unfortunate family that moves into James Klass' HOUSE ON ELM LAKE!

Synopsis: In the tradition of THE CONJURING comes a critically acclaimed and genuinely frightening feature “chock-full of superbly scary imagery” and “oozing with atmosphere.” (The Schlock Pit).

A young couple moves into a lake house that was the site of a ritual murder, and soon realize an ancient, dormant evil has awakened - a possessive force that has preyed on unsuspecting families like theirs for centuries.

HOUSE ON ELM LAKE was written and directed by James Klass (MOTHER KRAMPUS), and stars Becca Hirani (UNHINGED, MOTHER KRAMPUS), Oliver Ebsworth (CURSE OF THE WITCHING TREE, MOTHER KRAMPUS), and Tony Manders (DARKER SHADES OF ELISE, FOX TRAP).

Adrienne Barbeau, Michael Berryman, Courtney Gains, and Other Genre Favorites Star in HELL'S KITTY!

WILD EYE RELEASING'S NEW KILLER KITTY FLICK NOW AVAILABLE ON VIDEO ON DEMAND - COMING TO DVD ON MARCH 27TH!

There is a distinct lack of killer cat movies in the world Vault Dwellers. Off the top of my head all I can think of is STRAYS, UNINVITED, NIGHT OF 1,000 CATS, PET SEMATARY, TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE, and THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE! And now Nicholas Tana's HELL'S KITTY proudly joins their ranks!

Synopsis: Doug Jones (THE SHAPE OF WATER), Dale Midkiff (PET SEMATARY), Michael Berryman (THE HILLS HAVE EYES), Courtney Gains (CHILDREN OF THE CORN), Lynn Lowry (THE CAT PEOPLE), Kelli Maroni (NIGHT OF THE COMET), Ashley C. Williams (THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE), Barbara Nedeljakova (HOSTEL), Adrienne Barbeau (THE FOG), John Franklin (THE ADDAMS FAMILY, CHILDREN OF THE CORN) and a ‘Killer Klown’ team up for some "Pawplay" this March!

Based on the web series and comic book of the same name, and inspired by writer-director Nicholas Tana’s experiences living with a professedly possessed cat, HELL'S KITTY tells of a covetous feline that acts possessed and possessive of his owner around women. The results are as funny as they are frightening!

Nick (Writer/Directo Nicholas Tana), a Hollywood screenwriter, discovers his cat has become murderously possessed, and will stop at nothing to rid him of any women in his life. As his life unravels out of control, and the body count rises, Nick must find a way to have his cat exorcised of the demonic spirit haunting her.

With characters named after classic horror movie characters (Jones plays Father Damien, Berryman is Detective Pluto, Nina Kate is Dr. Laurie Strodes, Barbeau is Mrs. Carrie), and a tone reminiscent of some of the ‘80s greatest horror-comedies, HELL'S KITTY is undoubtedly the horror hiss of March!

HELL'S KITTY is now available to watch on various Video on Demand platforms (like Amazon Instant Video), and makes its DVD debut on Tuesday, March 27th! You can order a copy of HELL'S KITTY now from AMAZON or BULLMOOSE!

Trailer Round-Up: CONSUMPTION, FIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, HECTIC KNIFE, HELL TOWN, and THE LAUGHING MASK!

This is probably one of the craziest trailer round-ups I've done in a while Vault Dwellers. We've got a good assortment of trailers featuring knife-wielding heroes, zombie apocalypse simulations, slasher flicks and "soap operas," and a tale of an ancient evil ruining a wintry vacation! Let's take a closer look, shall we?

TRAILER #1: CONSUMPTION
This new title from Wild Eye Releasing focuses on a group of friends who go on a Winter retreat to a secluded resort in Utah. (Here thar be Mormons!) Unfortunately it would seem that their trip is about to be ruined by a cult, and demonic forces. Will they survive, or will they consumed by an ancient evil?! Find out on July 26th when CONSUMPTION hits DVD! Peep the trailer below!

TRAILER #2: FIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
Ten YouTube stars will work together to survive a simulated zombie apocalypse inside an abandoned hospital. I guess this is actually the second season of this reality / survival show, and I'm assuming that in the end, one person walks away with a cash prize? While the first season was free to watch, this one will exclusively be available on YouTube Red in August. Scope out the trailer below and imagine yourself taking part in this insanity!

TRAILER #3: HECTIC KNIFE
Producer Peter Litvin stars as the titular character in HECTIC KNIFE! A knife-wielding vigilante battles a supervillain named Piggly Doctor to save the city he calls home. This movies looks like pure chaos, and anything I write about it won't really do it justice. You'll have to experience HECTIC KNIFE for yourself by watching its trailer.

TRAILER #4: HELL TOWN
Referred to as a "slasher soap opera" and a "killer serial," HELL TOWN  is a melodramatic tale of high-schoolers "clashing over love, sex, and betrayal." Amidst the teen angst, a murderer known as the "Letter Jacket Killer" is on the prowl and killing students. HELL TOWN currently does not have a release date, but is expected to come out sometime after Summer 2016. CLICK HERE for more info about this flick, and be sure to watch the teaser below!

.

TRAILER #5: THE LAUGHING MASK
Jake Johnson seeks vengeance against a serial killer known as "The Laughing Mask" after losing his wife and daughter to the psychopath. Been hearing some pretty good things about this one, so I'll try to check it out as soon as I can. And you can too because this got released to various digital and VOD platforms this past Friday. (Including Amazon.com!) Watch the trailer, then give the film a look!

Well, that's all I've got for you today Vault Dwellers! Check back again soon for more movie news, trialers, posers, and more!

Trailer Round-Up: 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE, BUBBA THE REDNECK WEREWOLF, BUNNI, SERIAL KALLER, and SURVIVAL KNIFE!

Egads! My inbox has been filling up with press releases lately, so in an effort to pare things down, it's time for The News Vault's first Trailer Round-Up of 2016! Most of the trailers you are about to view are for low-budget indie flicks, with one very special exception...

TRAILER #1: 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE
While everyone's been watching the hell out of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS (which is closing in on a whopping two billion dollars worldwide), director JJ Abrams was secretly creating a new film based in his CLOVERFIELD universe. Imagine the shock and awe caused by the teaser which just dropped onto the web yesterday!

The film is a "blood relative" of CLOVERFIELD (whatever that means), and features John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and John Gallagher Jr. Apparently Winstead's character was rescued and brought into a fallout shelter by Goodman, and he won't let her out because of a "chemical attack" that rendered the surface world uninhabitable. Naturally it seems like she wants out, and struggles to escape, only to come to a shocking revelation.

I liked the concept of Abrams' CLOVERFIELD, so I'm kind of stoked for this film, which hits theaters in less than two months on March 11th!

TRAILER #2: BUBBA THE REDNECK WEREWOLF
Based off of a comic book character that was introduced to the masses 20 years ago, BUBBA THE REDNECK WEREWOLF is the tale of a Florida dogcatcher who becomes a lycanthropic hero after catching the "wrong dog." Honestly I don't know a whole heck of a lot about this character, but I am SO on board for this. A cigar chomping, chicken wing devouring, beer guzzling, werewolf that fights evil? AND HE HAS A THEME SONG?! Sign me up! (Currently the release date has yet to be announced, but I'll sure to post an update when I know more!)

TRAILER #3: BUNNI
Coming from Wild Eye Releasing in March, BUNNI is a new slasher flick that has a group of teens venturing into an abandoned factory, only to be viciously assailed by a murderous playboy bunny. Though it was only shot on a budget of about $2,000, it looks competently made, and should be a rather painless way to spend an hour. Give the trailer a look below! (Pre-order HERE.)

TRAILER #4: SERIAL KALLER
This title is coming out on DVD January 26th, courtesy of Wild Eye Releasing. Featuring genre vets Debbie Rochon and Suzi Lorraine, this film focuses on a trio of models trapped within their recording studio by a crazed fan that they insulted live on the air. To survive, they must band together to face their would-be killer, or somehow find a way out. Peep out the trailer below! (Pre-order HERE.)

TRAILER #5: SURVIVAL KNIFE
Due out on January 26th from (you guessed it!) Wild Eye Releasing! In SURVIVAL KNIFE the lone survivor of a serial murderer tries to recover both physically and mentally from her ordeal. However, she begins to fear that the trauma she has suffered has awakened something dark within her. Has the killer returned? Is she suffering from a mental breakdown? Or, has she secretly changed into the very thing she fears most?! Watch SURVIVAL KNIFE to find out! But before that, watch the trailer! (Pre-order HERE.)

That's it for now, but check back soon for more news, trailers, posters, and MORE, right here at The B-Movie News Vault!

A Plague So Pleasant - Available on DVD September 29th!

"A PLAGUE SO PLEASANT" INFECTS YOUR DVD COLLECTION THIS SEPTEMBER!

As tired as I am of the zombie sub-genre, I'm kind of curious about this one. Shot on a paltry budget of fourteen-hundred dollars, this new indie zombie flick promises a different experience than your typical undead fare.

Film Synopsis: In the near future, zombies have become a protected, endangered species, held in captivity and legally wandering the streets free from harm by the living.

But for the loved ones of those who die, sometimes coping is just too much to handle, especially when not everyone feels the dead have a right to exist, and are willing to break the law to rid the world of this new population of the dead.

A PLAGUE SO PLEASANT will infect home entertainment systems beginning September 29th (originally August 25th). A more dangerous strain than recent efforts, the film has been hailed by undead aficionados as "a miraculous accomplishment" (Zombie Guide Magazine), "an Excellent, Original Zombie Movie" (ZMDB.com), and "so much better than the average straight to video zombie travesty" (The Rotting Zombie).
