Vault Master's Pick of the Week!

Hey gang! Welcome to another edition of the News Vault's Stock Your Vault column! I got a little busy last week so this is a catch up post to get ya'll up to speed on what new titles are out on Blu-ray and 4K UHD this Tuesday and last!

Last week, Scream Factory brought THE CRAFT and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK to 4K disc, and gave FEMME FATALE its Blu-ray debut! Lionsgate added EXTREME PREJUDICE to its Vestron Video Collector's Series catalog, Paramount finally brought TOP SECRET! to Blu-ray here in the States, and Kino Lorber released WITHOUT WARNING with a new transfer and artwork!

My pick of the week went to Arrow Video's GIRLS NITE OUT, a somewhat obscure slasher flick featuring a killer disguised as a sports mascot! The film has been given a new 2K transfer, audio commentary, and a ton of new cast and crew interviews!

There wasn't much else to get excited for last week, but please continue onward to see the entire list of new Blu-ray and 4K releases!

Beverly Hills Cop II (4K UHD - 35th Anniversary Edition - Paramount)
The Craft (4K UHD - Collector's Edition - Scream Factory)
Escape From New York (4K UHD - Collector's Edition - Scream Factory)
Infinite (4K UHD - Paramount)

NEW TO BLU-RAY (05/17/22)
Belle (2021 - Shout! Factory)
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (Warner Archive Collection)
Extreme Prejudice (Vestron Video Collector's Series/Lionsgate)
Femme Fatale (Scream Factory)
Girls Nite Out (Limited Edition - Arrow Video)
Hulk / The Incredible Hulk (Double Feature - Universal)
Infinite (Paramount)
Top Secret! (Paramount)
Without Warning (Special Edition - Kino Lorber Studio Classics)

Now that we're caught up, I hope you saved some money because this week boasts a bunch of must-have titles! Warner Bros. releases MALIGNANT to 4K and brings their new THE BATMAN to all formats, newcomers Liberation Hall gave the (rightfully) forgotten ROBOCOP: THE SERIES its Blu-ray debut, and Arrow Video released ONE ARMED BOXER (a Shaw Bros. classic!), along with a limited edition Blu & 4K of WILD THINGS!

Mill Creek released yet another Ultraman series to DVD (What?! No Blu-ray? What gives?!), namely ULTRAMAN MEBIUS, Universal unleashes Dave Grohl's box office flop STUDIO 666, and Lionsgate releases X onto Blu-ray disc!

Scream Factory gets the win this week but not for their new CANDYMAN 4K release. Instead I've selected their new 4K disc of the late Tobe Hooper's LIFEFORCE as my pick of the week! This three-disc set contains all of the extras from the previous Blu-ray release, two cuts of the film, and a brand new 4K scan of the film's original negative!

There are a handful of other new titles out this week gang, so be sure to scroll down to peep them all out!

STOCK YOUR VAULT: New Blu-rays & 4K Discs for 05/10/2022!

The B-Movie News Vault's STOCK YOUR VAULT Logo!

Welcome fellow collectors to yet another new edition of the News Vault's STOCK YOUR VAULT column! This week's slate of new releases are substantially better than what was released last week, with multiple titles finally making their high-def debut!

Paramount continues its quest to milk FRIDAY THE 13TH fans for every penny with their "new" 40th Anniversary limited edition steelbook of FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3, Cleopatra brings Santiago Fernandez Calvete's A TASTE OF BLOOD to Blu-ray and includes a soundtrack CD in their release, and Universal takes advantage of their upcoming JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION with standalone 4K releases of the previous five films in the franchise!

Universal also boasts an all new 4K set featuring five Alfred Hitchcock classics, including FAMILY PLOT, MARNIE, SABOTEUR, SHADOW OF A DOUBT, and THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY, all of which are also available singly if you just want to cherry pick the titles you want!

Scream Factory does Wes Craven fans a big service with their Collector's Edition release of CURSED (a film title that was way too on the nose once you learn about the film's troubled production), which boasts two cuts of the film (theatrical and unrated - sadly the "Craven cut" seems to be lost), new cast & crew interviews, a making-of featurette, and more! And while this release would typically be my pick of the week, that honor instead goes to Shout! Factory's THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS, a film that's been on my WANTED ON BLU-RAY shortlist for some time! Although it is a barebones release, this is the first time that this cinematic adventure (which is based very loosely on actual events) has been available on the Blu-ray format, and as a longtime fan, I cannot wait to see this movie in crystal clarity!

There's not too much else out this week that I haven't already mentioned gang, but if you want to see the full roster of new Blu-rays and 4K discs just scroll onward!

The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection (4K UHD - Universal)
Family Plot (4K UHD - Universal)
Jurassic Park (4K UHD - Universal)
Jurassic Park III (4K UHD - Universal)
Jurassic World (4K UHD - Universal)
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (4K UHD - Universal)
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (4K UHD - Universal)
Marnie (4K UHD - Universal)
Saboteur (4K UHD - Universal)
Shadow of a Doubt (4K UHD - Universal)
The Trouble With Harry (4K UHD - Universal)
Uncharted (4K UHD - Sony Pictures)

Cursed (2005 - Collector's Edition - Scream Factory)

Cut and Chop (Kandoo Films Inc.)
Friday the 13th Part 3 (40th Anniversary Limited Edition Steelbook - Paramount)
The Ghost and the Darkness (Shout! Factory)

A Taste of Blood (Blu-ray/CD combo - Cleopatra)

Vault Master's Pick of the Week!

Greetings from the great beyond Vault Dwellers - I sincerely hope you are all doing well! It's been WAY too long since my last post and yours truly is trying to ease back into things after a long hiatus! Just to give you all a quick update: In the past seven months I started a new job (career?), took up residence in a new State, and have been trying to get the apartment in order and find solutions to having a far too large movie collection.

Speaking of collections, it's time to blow the dust off the Stock Your Vault column and tell ya'll what you can add to your Blu-ray shelves! This week's list of new titles is a rather small one that consists mostly of direct-to-Blu-ray schlock, but there are a few gems you may want to pick up.

Universal brings Joe Carnahan's SMOKIN' ACES to 4K UHD, while Shoreline Entertainment delivers films featuring killer bunnies (RABBIT WOMAN), genetically modified scorpions (TAIL STING), angry Japanese spirits (YOKAI), and a FEMALE WEREWOLF! And at the top of the heap is Shout! Factory's bare bones release of DINOSAUR WORLD, which seems like a mashup of THE HUNGER GAMES and JURASSIC PARK/WORLD.

There's not much else to get excited about gang, but if you're curious about what else is arriving on Blu-ray this Tuesday just scroll onward!

Smokin’ Aces (4K UHD – Universal)

Dinosaur World (Shout! Factory)
Female Werewolf (Shoreline Entertainment)

Halloween Heroes (Allied Vaughn)
The Hike (Allied Vaughn)
Meat (Shoreline Entertainment)
Rabbit Woman (Shoreline Entertainment)
Superchamp Returns (Shoreline Entertainment)
Tail Sting (Shoreline Entertainment)
