WELCOME TO HUDSON HORROR SHOW XV B*TCH! Poughkeepsie's bi-annual Horror and Exploitation film fest returns in May 2017!

ON SATURDAY, MAY 20TH, HUDSON HORROR SHOW RETURNS TO ITS OLD STOMPING GROUNDS FOR TWELVE HOURS OF 35MM MADNESS!

Just when you think that Chris Alo and friends cannot top the lineups of previous Hudson Horror events, they up the ante yet again! Gaze in wide wonder at the killer lineup of films being screened in 35mm at Hudson Horror Show XV, save the date, and snap up tickets as soon as they go on sale, because this event WILL SELL OUT! For more details on the films and tickets, read the official press release below and get excited!

"Welcome to prime-time bitches, it's Hudson Horror Show #15! It’s been a long time coming, but our next show is locked and loaded and will take place on Saturday May 20th, 2017 at our home, the South Hills Cinema 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Tickets are just $38.00 in advance (only available at www.hudsonhorror.com), and will go on sale at approximately 10AM on this Sunday, February 26th. So what are we showing?? You wanna know, don’t you?

We’ll start off with not one but TWO MYSTERY MOVIES!! One is actually a MYSTERY MOVIE and the other is a MYSTERY HORROR MOVIE. (See what we did there?) No real clues yet, but let’s just say that even though one of them isn’t a horror movie, that doesn’t mean it’s not incredibly bloody and violent!

Our buds at the world’s best home video label Vinegar Syndrome are proud to present a rare 35mm screening of SLAUGHTERHOUSE! This late 80’s slasher is grimy and gruesome, but still so much fun. Just missing the slasher craze by a few years, if you’ve never seen this flick before, now is your chance to see it on the big screen.

The maniacal Jordan G from The B-Movie Film Vault is out of the asylum once again, and this time is sponsoring a 30th anniversary screening of THE HIDDEN! This sci-fi horror cult classic is a true roller coaster ride and only Jordan is crazy enough to bring it to you!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, you still get nibbled to death by the frenzy that is PIRANHA! Joe Dante’s 1978 classic is one of the most requested titles by you, the Hudson Horror audience. With a cast that includes Kevin McCarthy, Barbara Steele and that guy Dick Miller, PIRANHA is a movie that you will just eat up!

Lastly, but not least, we are equally looking forward to a 30th anniversary screening of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS! One of the most popular entries in the famed franchise, we’ll be laughing along to Freddy’s dated puns almost as much as we are rockin’ to Dokken!

As usual, lobbies at the theater will be packed to the gills with vendors selling t-shirts, DVDs, Blu-rays, toys, posters and so much more. Interested in being a vendor? Got a question? Send an email chris@hudsonhorror.com. Tickets are not needed to shop the vendor’s area, but you WILL need a ticket to watch the movies. And yeah, you will need to decide before purchasing your tickets which screening room you want to sit in (Theater #1 or Theater #6). Both rooms get the same movies, just in a slightly different order.

Again, tickets go on sale at 10AM this Sunday February 26th at www.hudsonhorror.com. Get them before they are gone! And we’ll see you on May 20th in Poughkeepsie for Hudson Horror Show #15!"

LINEUP & SCHEDULE FOR HUDSON HORROR SHOW XIV: YET ANOTHER DECEMBER TO DISMEMBER!

HUDSON HORROR
SHOW XIV INVADES POUGHKEEEPSIE, NY ON DECEMBER 3RD, WITH A KILLER LINEUP OF 35MM PRINTS!

As I sit here typing about this upcoming film fest, I find it hard to believe that I'm once again helping to usher in a fantastic show that I was merely a bystander at five years ago. Since HUDSON HORROR SHOW IV (the original December to Dismember), I've become a fixture of this bi-annual event, sponsoring the likes of INFRA-MAN, LADY TERMINATOR, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2, and NIGHTBREED!

This time around I'm proud to help Chris Alo and his merry band of Horror fanatics kick-off yet another high quality Hudson Horror Show, with a strong lineup of genre favorites! Tickets go on sale Friday, September 16th for $38.00 on their official website, for Theaters #1 and #6! That's right Vault Dwellers, this show is so huge it takes TWO SCREENS to harness all of the awesome!

THE LINEUP

ROBOCOP (1987)
This film is one of my all-time favorites! ROBOCOP boasts costume design and effects by Rob Bottin, an amazing soundtrack composed by Basil Poledouris, an unbeatable cast made up of Ronny Cox, Peter Weller, Kurtwood Smith, Nancy Allen and other familiar faces, plus first-rate directing by Paul Verhoeven (STARSHIP TROOPERS, SHOWGIRLS)!

When officer Alex Murphy is gunned-down in the line of duty, his corpse is reconstituted inside the bulletproof body of a crime-fighting cyborg! As RoboCop cleans up the streets of "Old Detroit," Murphy begins to regain his humanity, and seeks vengeance against the gang of thugs that murdered him and ruined his life!

THE HOWLING (1981)
Sponsored by yours truly, this Joe Dante classic features a news anchor (Dee Wallace) and her hubby staying at a secluded retreat called "The Haven." Though intended to be an escape from the trauma of tracking down a serial killer, it turns out that the backwoods paradise is actually a refuge for werewolves! Though the bulk of the shapeshifters are trying to get a handle on their animalistic urges, there are some that strongly disagree, and readily let loose the beast within. This leads to some cool transformation scenes (courtesy of Rob Bottin!), a philosophical discussion of the human id, and werewolf sex!

DEATH RACE 2000 (1975)
After such a strong audience reaction to the trailer that was shown at the previous Hudson Horror Show, DEATH RACE 2000's inclusion in the roster is a no-brainer! Set in a future where the Cannonball Run has become a deadly national sport, Roger Corman's insane sci-fi classic pits colorful drivers against one-another in a sprint from the East Coast of the United States, all the way to the West. The catch? The drivers must run down, run over, maim, and kill as many innocent bystanders as possible to gain points!

Featuring Sylvester Stallone in an early role, alongside the likes of David Carradine and Mary Woronov, this violent version of Wacky Races is sure to be a real crowdpleaser!

THE HITCHER (1986)
Followed up by a lousy sequel, and a dull reboot, Robert Harmon's THE HITCHER has withstood the test of time. This thriller features a cat-and-mouse game between a young man (C. Thomas Howell) and a murderous drifter (Rutger Hauer). After escaping a crazed hitchhiker, Jim Halsey is pursued relentlessly, and framed for numerous murders, by the cold and calculated mystery man.

THE HITCHER is a great flick, and will definitely make you think twice before picking up any hitchhikers, and it'll be a real treat to see it projected in 35mm!

I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE (1978)
Egads! It was all fun and games until Meir Zarchi's quintessential "rape and revenge" classic was added to the roster! I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE is not a pleasant film, and features actress Camille Keaton as Jennifer, a writer looking for seclusion in order to focus on her craft. Her plans go completely out the window once four hillbillies break into her cabin and gang-rape her multiple times, then leave her for dead.

Once she physically recovers from the attack, she begins a quiet, campaign of vengeance against the wicked men who destroyed her innocence. After you see this movie, you'll never look at a seemingly harmless rub & tug in the bathtub the same way again!

MYSTERY MOVIE
This is a complete unknown gang! Even I don't know what's playing, and I'm usually privy to that information! I sense something HUGE is in store for us Hudson Horror fans!

HUDSON HORROR SHOW 13 CONQUERS POUGHKEEPSIE, NY AGAIN THIS MAY!

ON SATURDAY, MAY 14TH, HUDSON HORROR SHOW RETURNS, BIGGER & BETTER THAN EVER!
BE SURE TO YOUR PRE-ORDER YOUR TICKETS ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH BECAUSE
IT WILL SELL OUT!

Fresh off the presses:
First off, thanks to those who bought tickets to our March Madness Triple Feature at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY. We are sorry to report that our screening of HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP, HELL NIGHT and CHILD’S PLAY is now completely sold out. All we can say is to keep your eyes on the Alamo Yonkers website to see if more tickets become available.

Now onto the good news, Hudson Horror Show returns to its native soil in Poughkeepsie New York on May 14th, 2016 for Hudson Horror Show #13!

Tickets will go on sale on Valentine’s Day, Sunday February 14th 2016 at 9 AM exclusively at www.hudsonhorror.com. Tickets are just $35.00 for the six movie, 12 hour show. Each ticket purchased comes with a free limited edition Hudson Horror Show Leatherface/Black Sabbath sticker.

Like the last time, there will be two rooms showing all of the movies, you will need to decide which room you want to sit in. Both rooms will get the same exact movies, just in a different order. So, what are we showing?

We’ve been threatening to show a Blaxploitation movie for years and now we’ve finally got one of the best in DOLEMITE! Presented by our friends at Vinegar Syndrome, Dolemite stars Rudy Ray Moore as the one and only pimp, comedian, lounge club singer, kung fu artist, and all around bad ass!

You’ve seen the sequel, now it’s time for the original, Robert Englund’s star turn in 1984’s A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET! With John Saxon, Heather Langenkamp and Johnny Depp, do we even need to say more than that?

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, HHS presents JAWS 2!!! The giant fish movie that many feels plays like a slasher JAWS 2 brings Bruce back to Amityville and the results are as disastrous as last time. JAWS 2 rarely gets any play theatrically and we are pleased to have this as part of our show.

Our headliner for show# 13 is the much requested NIGHTBREED! Presented by The B-Movie Film Vault, Clive Barker’s monster mash features more on screen creatures than any other movie ever filmed. And forget that director’s cut, the theatrical version of NIGHTBREED is by far the superior version and we are ecstatic to have this as part of our lineup.

We will also have not one but TWO MYSTERY HORROR MOVIES!! Want to know what we are showing? Get your tickets and find out! Again, tickets go on sale Sunday February 14th at 9AM at www.hudsonhorror.com. What better way is there to celebrate Valentine's Day than buying your significant other a Hudson Horror Ticket?

If you have any questions, shoot us an email at chris@hudsonhorror.com and we’ll see you at the movies!

Hudson Horror Show MARCH MADNESS TRIPLE FEATURE tickets on sale now!

UPDATE: HUDSON HORROR SHOW'S MARCH MADNESS TRIPLE FEATURE HAS SOLD OUT (IN RECORD TIME)!

UPDATE: Read my coverage of this event HERE at The B-Movie Film Vault! You can read all about my other Hudson Horror adventures HERE!

Sorry if you missed this one gang! But don't feel bad, there's plenty of awesome coming up in Hudson Horror Show on May 14th, 2016!!!!

HUDSON HORROR SHOW is a 35mm-fueled juggernaut that cannot be stopped! The event has grown so large that it occupies TWO screens during it's bi-annual film fest!

On Saturday, March 5th, the Hudson Horror crew is once again conquering The Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY, with yet another "March Madness" triple feature that's sure to please fans of Horror and Exploitation cinema!

Tickets are on sale now, and half of them are already gone! So do yourself a favor and CLICK HERE to order yours right now. If you wait, they will be gone, and you'll have to sit at home and sulk on March 5th!

The event kicks off at 6:00 PM and boasts three awesome flicks:

FILM #1: HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP
Highly-evolved icthyoids (i.e. "fish men") rise from the deep and attack a small fishing village. All men must die, and all women must be impregnated, in this insane Roger Corman production featuring genre vets Doug McClure and Vic Morrow. Also keep an ear out for the score, which was created by composer James Horner, whom you may recall tragically died in a plane crash last June.

FILM #2: HELL NIGHT
Linda Blair stars in this sadly oft-overlooked 80s slasher film, where a group of college students must stay in a "haunted" mansion on Halloween night in order to join a fraternity (and sorority). What is supposed to be a harmless night of fun, quickly turns into a fight for survival when the would-be pledges discover that they are not alone in the house. This is a cool little indie Horror flick from the early 80s that has several memorable moments, and I think the audience is really gonna dig it!

FILM #3: CHILD'S PLAY
Brad Dourif stars as the villainous Charles Lee Ray, who uses a voodoo spell to hop into the body of a Good Guy Doll after being fatally shot by a police officer (FRIGHT NIGHT's Chris Sarandon). The possessed doll ends up in the hands of a young child named Andy, and soon strange "accidents" begin happening. Is Andy responsible, or is his doll "Chucky" really alive? Well honestly everyone knows the answer to that question, but who cares, because this movie is awesome, and gave us one of the most beloved Horror icons from the 80s!

I'm not entirely sure what order these three films will be screened, but all three are 35mm presentations! There will also be giveaways in between each film, maybe a vendor or two, and of course delicious food and a large variety of alcoholic beverages courtesy of The Alamo Drafthouse! (Chicken wings and bottomless popcorn for the win!)

So save the date (MARCH 5TH!!!!), GET YOUR TICKETS, and hopefully I'll see you there!

HUDSON HORROR SHOW 12 RETURNS TO POUGHKEEPSIE ON DECEMBER 12TH!

UPDATES: Screening schedule located at the bottom of this post + New event poster revealed!

Hudson Horror Show is returning to its stomping grounds at the Empire South Hills 8 on Saturday, December 12th! Their last all-day film fest sold out (in 90 minutes!),  as did their recent double feature at the Alamo Drafthouse), so it's no shocker that the Hudson Horror crew expect another sell-out show this time around! Though twice as many tickets will be available, expect them to be gone within days of availability! Wait what? Did I just say TWICE as many?

Yes I did, and that's because all six of the day's films will be screened on TWO SEPARATE SCREENS! You see, Hudson Horror Show has become one of the most highly-anticipated events on the East Coast, and as a result, has outgrown its current home. But the Empire South Hills 8 has been such a great venue that Chris Alo and friends didn't want to take the show elsewhere, so showing films on two screens just seemed to make a whole lot of sense!

I'm sure you're super curious about how this is all going to work, and I shall explain, but first (as stated in my Hudson Horror Survival Guide) you need to GET YOUR TICKETS ASAP! To do that, you'll have to visit the official Hudson Horror Show site (www.hudsonhorror.com) on Saturday, October 17th at 11:00 AM EST. When you order, there will be TWO BUTTONS to click on (Theater #1 and Theater #6), so plan accordingly. If you're bringing friends with you, make sure you buy tickets for the same theater!

As for the 35mm prints being shown, rest easy knowing that BOTH theaters will be showing the SAME SIX MOVIES, but the lineup on each screen will be different! So while you're gazing at the insanity of DEMONOID, your pals in the other theater will be enjoying the tunes of Sorcery during STUNT ROCK! And while your night may end with HALLOWEEN II, mine could end with Walter Hill's THE WARRIORS. Regardless of which theater you're sitting in, you will see ALL SIX FILMS IN 35MM!

Also, start times will be staggered for both theaters: One will kick things off fifteen minutes early, while the second screen will kick things off fifteen minutes later. This is being attempted in the hopes that the snack bar and bathrooms don't get jammed up, since more people will be attending than ever before!

I know this is all kind of crazy, but I think it's a solid plan, and hopefully I've explained it clearly enough. If not, drop me a line at vault_master@bmoviefilmvault.com. And if I don't have the answers, send your inquiries to chris@hudsonhorror.com, and get the facts straight from the horse's mouth!

So what is being shown at the 12th edition of Poughkeepsie's famous Hudson Horror Show? I'm glad you asked!

DEMONOID - Presented by Vinegar Syndrome (who will vending at this show, and selling copies of their new DEMONOID blu-ray!), this 1981 horror flick from Mexico is crazy! After discovering an ancient Satanic temple, miners unleash "Satan's Left Hand" upon the world! The  hand possesses people, then kills them when they attempt to have it removed. This movie is hilariously bonkers and should make for a great time!

STUNT ROCK - Australian stuntman Grant Page stars as himself in this once lost 80s classic, where he comes to America to do stunts for heavy metal band SORCERY (who did the soundtrack to ROCKTOBER BLOOD)! I've never seen this one before but I'm really looking forward to it!

FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 - Presented by The B-Movie Film Vault (a.k.a. ME!), this is one of the most important slasher films of the 80s! Years after the events of FRIDAY THE 13TH, a new group of counselors settles in near the ruins of Camp Crystal Lake (now referred to as "Camp Blood"). Despite warnings, the "teens" venture off to the old camp and incur the wrath of the sack-masked Jason Voorhees! This is Jason's big screen debut, and it features one of my fave onscreen deaths! I can't wait to see this with an audience!

HALLOWEEN II - This sequel picks right up from where the original left off. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), the sole survivor of Michael Myers' killing spree, is taken to the hospital. Meanwhile Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) continues to seek out his psychotic mental patient, who is still on the loose and looking to murder Laurie. Why is Michael Myers so intent on murdering Laurie Strode?! See HALLOWEEN II to find out!

THE WARRIORS - A gang has to fight their way through the mean streets of New York and back to their home turf on Coney Island when they are framed for the murder of a major gang leader. Finally, I can see the unaltered theatrical cut of Walter Hill's cult classic in 35mm! JOY!

THE MYSTERY MOVIE
- The mystery movie never fails to deliver the goods, and there's been so many cool ones over the past few years. Will it have vampires or killer animals? Is it a slasher flick? A Horror anthology? You won't know until the projector fires up!

As always, each film will be preceded with contests and giveaways, as well as cool 35mm trailer reels, and there will also be plenty of vendors selling toys, DVDs, Blu-rays, posters, clothing, and other collectibles! So get your tickets, put aside some spending money, and save the date!

Once again tickets go on sale this coming Saturday (October 17th) at 11:00 AM EST at HudsonHorror.com! Don't miss out! Pre-order your tickets as soon as they become available, and maybe I'll see you in Poughkeepsie in December!

HUDSON HORROR SHOW DOUBLE FEATURE @ THE ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE - SEPTEMBER 19TH!

HUDSON HORROR SHOW INVADES THE ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE WITH YET ANOTHER INSANE 35MM HORROR DOUBLE FEATURE!

Hudson Horror Show is a major reason why I continue to live and breathe. The bi-annual event brings together hardcore horror and exploitation film fans, and the lineups at each show are to die for. It's a smoothly run film fest that sells out ridiculously fast, and for good reason!

On Saturday, September 19th, Chris Alo and his Hudson Horror crew will be taking over Theater #4 at the immensely awesome ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE in Yonkers, NY. (GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!)

During their last epic team up, The Drafthouse and Hudson Horror Show team brought us a great triple feature of SLEEPAWAY CAMP, THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION, and BLOOD BEACH!

This time around, come to the Drafthouse and we'll crack open a few cold ones and “get hammered” with THE TOOLBOX MURDERS! Starring cult horror icon Cameron Mitchell (BLOOD & BLACK LACE, NIGHTMARE IN WAX), seventies teen heartthrob Wesley Eure (TV’s LAND OF THE LOST) and adult film superstar Kelly Nichols, THE TOOLBOX MURDERS ranks as one of the grimiest horror films ever made.

Originally released in the spring of 1978, this somewhat forgotten slasher preceded both HALLOWEEN and FRIDAY THE 13th and features so many death scenes using tools, that it should have been sponsored by Craftsman!  Forget the 2004 remake by Tobe Hooper, the original film still packs quite a punch in the blood and nudity department and tonally is still creepy as hell and just generally “unsettling.”

In the UK this was one of the original “Video Nasties” which saw the movie banned in England for nearly 20 years. Now you can see it all, back on the big screen and from glorious 35mm film!

The second feature at the Alamo/Hudson Horror Show team up is an even more obscure title, the completely overlooked and underappreciated monster bash SPOOKIES! Originally lensed in 1984 under the title "Twisted Souls," the original film was unfinished and therefore, never released.

Several years later a second director was brought in, along with an entirely new cast, to shoot new footage to expand the unfinished movie to feature length. With two separate movies, multiple story lines that never intersect and two different casts mashed together, SPOOKIES is completely nonsensical and utterly batshit crazy, but so much fun!

While the title was surely a cash-in on the GREMLINS and GHOULIES craze, this “R” rated monster movie has very little to do with either of the aforementioned films. Featuring zombies, dead girls in coffins, giant spiders, assorted demons, a Grim Reaper, and more, this completely ignored haunted house/creature feature is a dream come true for lovers of old school practical effects!

This movie was barely released theatrically in the United States in 1988 as a mere 17 prints of this movie were struck in 35mm and sent to theaters. Never released on DVD or Blu Ray in the U.S. and practically unseen in theaters. (Though it became a popular staple of late night cable TV!) With one of those rare 17 prints now unearthed, the time has come to bask in the rubber monster madness that is SPOOKIES!

The Hudson Horror at the Alamo double feature will feature the usual trappings of our regular Hudson Horror Show: Classic drive in trailers, trivia questions, giveaways, and of course, some vendors with assorted horror merchandise for sale. Add that to the Alamo’s delicious food, drink specials and film fan friendliness and you have another winning combination.

The show starts at 8:00 PM and tickets are a mere $12 bucks! They are on sale and going FAST! I myself secured tickets just yesterday, and discovered that half the seats are already claimed! So if you are serious about attending, get your butt in gear and order your tickets HERE, before you miss out on this once in a lifetime double feature!

Get your tickets, save the date, and prepare to have your brain melted by these two cinematic oddities! Hopefully I'll see you there!

Hudson Horror Show 11 Event Schedule!

Saturday June 13th marks the triumphant return of the always awesome HUDSON HORROR SHOW. I've been attending this since their fourth show and haven't missed one since (unless you count their double feature of TOURIST TRAP and TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD at the Alamo Drafthouse)!

This time around, yours truly (who has previously inflicted INFRA-MAN and LADY TERMINATOR on the unsuspecting audience) will be sponsoring and introducing a very cool MYSTERY MOVIE to kick things off. All I can tell you is that it's a great 80s horror flick that grew on me over the years. It features a stellar cast, and was directed by an Academy Award Winner. (Sorry, but no more hints!)

Along with that, there will be four other amazing films, including MS.45, MADMAN, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE, and Steven Spielberg's JAWS. Tickets have been sold out for weeks, so sadly, many of you reading this will be missing out on the 35mm goodness. However, the vendors area will be open to the public, and you will also have a chance to meet Bill Diamond ("The Muppet Master"), as well as MADMAN producer Gary Sales, and actors Jimmy Steele (Richie), and Paul Ehlers (Madman Marz)!
