Trailer Round-Up: BLADE RUNNER 2049, BLOOD MACHINES: TURBO KILLER II, DEATH RACE 2050, and JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2!

Another week, another dose of trailers! 2017 is shaping up to be an incredible year for cinema Vault Dwellers (lord knows we'll need the escape), and I'm about to give you four more reasons why! Keanu Reeves is back as everyone's favorite puppy-avenging hitman, Harrison Ford reprises his role of Rick Deckard, Roger Corman produces an official followup to his cult classic DEATH RACE 2000, and indie filmmakers hailing from France are prepping to create a feature-length 80s-style musical sci-fi epic! Let's get to it, shall we?!

TRAILER #1: BLADE RUNNER 2049
Release Date: October 6, 2017

Set thirty years after Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic, Ryan Gosling stars as K, a new "blade runner" that stumbles upon a secret that could send all of society spinning into utter chaos. Seeking answers, K seeks out Rick Deckard for information and aid! Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of the original BLADE RUNNER, but it's been nearly two decades since I've watched it, so it's probably time that I revisited it. If you're a big fan of the original movie, peep out the teaser below and get excited!

TRAILER #2: BLOOD MACHINES: TURBO KILLER II
Release Date: TBA 2017

Currently in pre-production, BLOOD MACHNES acts as a sequel to a short film / music video called TURBO KILLER. (Watch it HERE.) Set in a BLADE RUNNER-esque universe, the film follows two space hunters who chase after a female ghost that exited a rogue machine they took down. BLOOD MACHINES is currently still in its crowdfunding phase, and on track to raise enough for a thirty-minute short film. However, if "Seth Ickerman" and friends raise $666,666.00, they will gear up to create a feature-length tale utilizing their impressive digital effects, and music by Carpenter Brut. Scope out the music video for TURBO KILLER, and their Kickstarter campaign video below! If you're impressed, feel free to toss a few bucks their way!

TRAILER #3: DEATH RACE 2050
Release Date: January 17, 2017 (DVD & Blu-ray)

In the year 2050, the Earth becomes overpopulated. To help bring population levels down in the "United Corporations of America," the Death Race is developed. Held annually, this race allows participants to speed from coast to coast, picking off unlucky pedestrians along the way to earn points! Hmm.... though I thought this was a sequel of sorts, it seems like it might be more of a reboot? Guess I won't find out for sure until next January!

TRAILER #4: JOHN WICK - CHAPTER 2
Release Date: February 10, 2017

Bound by a blood oath, retired hitman John Wick travels to Rome to help a former associate take control of an international assassins' guild! There's nothing much else to say about this, other than "HOLY CRAP, IT'S A NEW JOHN WICK MOVIE!" I loved the first one, so I am totally on board to see this sequel! Here's hoping it's just as good as, if not better than, its predecessor!

That's it for now, but check back soon for more movie news, trailers, and more!

ON JANUARY 3, 2017, KINO LORBER DEBUTS "STRYKER," "WHO?" (AKA ROBO MAN), AND ZPG: ZERO POPULATION GROWTH ON BLU-RAY!

Kino Lorber gets a jump start over the competition on January 3, 2017 with their Blu-ray releases of STRYKER, WHO?, and ZPG! I've never seen any of these films (though I have heard of STRYKER), but will definitely give them a look now that they are readily available in high-definition! Let's take a closer look at each disc, shall we?

Amidst these savages is a group of brave and beautiful Amazons who guard one of the world's last springs! But their secret is eventually exposed and the savages descend upon the water supply! Outnumbered, the women turn to lone road warrior, Stryker (Steve Sandor, FIRE AND ICE) for help.

STRYKER was first of seven Cirio H. Santiago (TNT JACKSON, FIRECRACKER) post-apocalyptic action films (which were all produced by Roger Corman!), followed by WHEELS OF FIRE (1985), FUTURE HUNTERS (1986), EQUALIZER 2000 (1987), THE SISTERHOOD (1988), DUNE WARRIORS (1991) and RAIDERS OF THE SUN (1992).

Synopsis: In the tradition of LOGAN'S RUN and SOYLENT GREEN - Oliver Reed (BURNT OFFERINGS) and Geraldine Chaplin (DOCTOR ZHIVAGO) star in this dystopian vision of things to come.

Under the weight of overpopulation, human society has begun to self-destruct. A policy of Zero Population Growth is upon citizens in hopes that twenty years without new births will right the sinking ship that is our planet.

Couples are issued dolls to take the place of children, and neighbors are encouraged to speak out about any illicit breeding. Reed and Chaplin play a couple that decides to subvert the will of the government and have a child of their own, but need to hide their crime from big brother, baby-snatchers, and even those they had trusted most.

Dennis Quaid Invades Your Dreams on 12/13, with Scream Factory's DREAMSCAPE: COLLECTOR'S EDITION!

FIND OUT IF DENNIS QUAID IS THE MAN OF YOUR DREAMS ON DECEMBER 13TH, WITH SCREAM FACTORY'S "DREAMSCAPE!"

I love DREAMSCAPE! It's a super cool movie that has an interesting premise (think INNERSPACE, but more cerebral and fantastical), a great cast, and some awesome practical f/x! If you're a fan, you NEED this disc. If you've never seen this movie, do yourself a favor and give it a whirl!

Synopsis: Alex Gardner (Dennis Quaid) is a man with an incredible psychic gift… but for years has used it solely for personal gain. Reuniting with his old mentor, Dr. Novotny (Max von Sydow), Gardner joins a government project in which he learns to channel his abilities in order to enter peoples' subconscious through their dreams. As his powers grow, the young psychic soon finds himself in a living nightmare of conspiracy and murder… and the only way out is to go back in.

A sleeper hit on its initial release, Dreamscape's reputation as a classic of '80s genre entertainment has only grown over the years. From its impressive cast – including Christopher Plummer, Kate Capshaw, Eddie Albert, David Patrick Kelly, and George Wendt – to behind-the-camera talent such as director Joseph Ruben (THE STEPFATHER) and co-writer Chuck Russell (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. 3: DREAM WARRIORS, 1988's THE BLOB), Dreamscape is a rousing mix of science fiction, adventure, and horror beyond your wildest imagination.

Disc Specs:
Rated PG-13 | Color | 99 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.85:1)
Audio - DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0

DREAMSCAPE: COLLECTOR'S EDITION comes out on Tuesday, December 13th! I highly recommend this film, and feel that this is the best way to watch it! New 2K transfer, lots of new extras, but sadly, this is NOT the uncut version that briefly features the bewbs of actress Kate Capshaw. You can order it now from Amazon, Diabolik DVD, BullMoose.com, or directly from Shout! Factory (which will also net you a free 18 x 24 poster if you order soon!). I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm definitely getting my paws on this one... after the holidays are over!

Bob Clark's OTHER Christmas Classic coming out in deluxe Collector's Edition on 12/13!

ON DECEMBER 13TH, SCREAM FACTORY DELIVERS THEIR DEFINITIVE COLLECTOR'S EDITION OF "BLACK CHRISTMAS" AS THE ULTIMATE STOCKING-STUFFER FOR HORROR FANS!

Growing up, I was an unabashed fan of Bob Clark's A CHRISTMAS STORY. However, as the years have passed, I'm finding myself avoiding that particular movie during the holiday season, and instead enjoying Clark's proto-slasher film!

And now, once again, Scream Factory delivers the goods with their new Blu-ray of this Holiday Horror Classic! Boasting a much-celebrated 2K transfer and a slew of extras, this is definitely something that will be cherished by any Horror fan that receives it as a gift this holiday season!

Synopsis: The college town of Bedford is receiving an unwelcome guest this Christmas. As the residents of sorority house Pi Kappa Sigma prepare for the festive season, a stranger begins to stalk the house.

A series of obscene phone calls start to plague the residents of the sorority and it becomes clear that a psychopath is homing in on the sisters with dubious intentions. And though the police try to trace the calls, they discover that nothing is as it seems during this Black Christmas.

"Stuffed with extremely tense moments, chilling cinematography, amazing characters and long-lasting dread… [this] genuine classic is completely deserving of every bit of respect and admiration it's picked up over the last 40 years" (addictedtohorormovie.com).

Scream Factory's BLACK CHRISTMAS: COLLECTOR'S EDITION will be available everywhere on Tuesday, December 13, 2016! There have been some complaints about the 2.0 Mono track on the first disc (as addressed in this review) - apparently there were issues with the optical audio track that Scream Factory utilized when producing this release, and I guess they did the best they could with it.

While that is disappointing, this is still a stellar Blu-ray that boasts two different transfers, numerous other audio options, and a huge number of extras. Honestly I don't see how anyone could justify skipping this release because of a "hissy" Mono track, but then again, I'm not a hardcore BLACK CHRISTMAS purist. If you haven't been scared off, you can grab this new Scream Factory title now at Amazon, Diabolik DVD, BullMoose.com, or directly from Shout! Factory's online store!

Trailer Round-Up: THE BELKO EXPERIMENT, THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, and WAR OF THE PLANET OF THE APES!

Egads! 2016 has been an awful year overall Vault Dwellers! So many beloved celebrities have passed away, we had (quite possibly) the most insane Presidential election in U.S. history, and the bulk of the films pouring out of Hollywood were mostly crap! But as we head towards an uncertain future in this nation, I have some hope that 2017 will, at the very least, present us with a surge in high quality theatrical entertainment. Let's take a look at some of the Blockbusters heading our way next year!

TRAILER #1: THE BELKO EXPERIMENT
Release Date: March 17, 2017

From the twisted mind of James Gunn comes this all new dark comedy / thriller! Eighty American employees of the "non profit" Belko Corporation, are locked down in a high-rise in Bogota, Colombia. They are trapped within the building, and must murder each other to move on to the next "round." If they do not play ball with the mysterious voice on the loudspeaker, they will be killed by the explosives that are implanted in the back of their heads. It's BATTLE ROYALE: CUBICLE EDITION - Who will survive, and what will be left of them?!

TRAILER #2: THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS
Release Date: April 14, 2017

I lost interest in this franchise after just one movie... and then somehow managed to get sucked back in and love it after the three latest installments. While I admit that the title of this FAST AND THE FURIOUS sequel is kind of goofy, the movie looks pretty fun! For some reason, Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto turns against his friends and bends to the whims of a new blonde villainess. (Can't blame him since she is played by Charlize Theron.) Now all the characters from previous entries will band together (and team up with former baddie Jason Statham) to take down Dominic! Count me in on this one!

TRAILER #3: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2
Release Date: May 5, 2017

James Gunn, and Vin Diesel, make the list again with next Summer's most anticipated film: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL. 2! Our favorite gang of Marvel misfits is back to take on an all new threat (Ego, the Living Planet if rumors are true) while trying to figure out who Peter Quill's father is! Baby Groot is guaranteed to steal the show here, Michael Rooker's Yondu is sportin' a new mohawk, and a new character named Mantis joins the team. This looks like it is going to be a blast, and another huge win for the Marvel/Disney juggernaut! Hurry up and get here May, because I need this in my eyeballs ASAP!

TRAILER #4: SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING
Release Date: July 7, 2017

Having just gone toe-to-toe with Captain America and Ant-Man during the MCU Civil War, Peter Parker tries desperately to balance his normal life with his superheroics. With a little help from Tony Stark, the young Webhead goes into battle against The Vulture, Shocker, The Tinkerer, and possibly even more members of the eventual Sinister Six! I think that the Sony/Marvel team-up on this film is going to work out well, and I for one cannot wait to see this flick next Summer! Scope out the international trailer below (because the official U.S. trailer is garbage), and get excited Marvel fans! Excelsior!

TRAILER #5: WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES
Release Date: July 14, 2017

I have been eagerly awaiting the trailer for this sequel to the successfully rebooted PLANET OF THE APES series, and I was not disappointed. The war that is touched-off at the end of DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES reaches a critical boiling point as humanity chases after and tries to wipe out Caesar's tribe of intelligent primates. The bad guys are led by Woody Harrelson, and seem to come up against a combined force of apes and humans in a climactic battle to prove which side will become the rulers of post-pandemic Earth! Damn this looks good!

That's all I've got for you this time Vault Dwellers, but check back again soon for more trailers, news, and more, right here at The B-Movie News Vault!

New DVDs & Blu-rays for 11/22/2016!

Hey Vault Dwellers! Yours truly is finally home and chillaxing after a hectic week at the day job, and  spending Thanksgiving with the inlaws! Now that I've caught a little time for a breather, let me tell you what's new on DVD and Blu-ray this week!

Lionsgate's Vestron Collector's Series adds RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 3 (uncut!) and C.H.U.D. Shout! Factory inches closer to releasing every MST3K episode onto DVD, with Volume 37 + MST3K Turkey Day Marathon and Sale Info!

SHOUT! FACTORY BRINGS FOUR PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 EPISODES TO DVD ON NOVEMBER 22ND, AND BRINGS BACK THE ANNUAL TURKEY DAY MARATHON!

It's no secret that I am a huge fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and I have yet to miss out on any of the numerous boxed sets. (Including the OOP Rhino set that came with GODZILLA VS. MEGALON!)

Seriously, I could owe a loanshark fifty bucks, and I'd skip out on paying him and having my pinky finger broken,  just so I could sit and enjoy some quality time with Joel Hodgson, Mike Nelson, and their robotic companions! If you're as big a fan of this show as I am, then you won't want to miss out on Volume XXXVII!

EPISODES
402 - THE HUMAN DUPLICATORS: Aliens quietly invade Earth and implement the "Galaxy Domination Program," which involves replacing various scientists with android doubles. But things go wrong for the would-be conquerors when their android creations begin to defy them! Join Joel and the bots as they suffer through this movie, do invention exchanges, and dabble in some duplicating of their own!

705 - ESCAPE 2000: The "General Construction Corporation" sends teams of mercenaries into the Bronx to kick everyone out. Those that don't "Leave the Bronx" are promptly executed, whether they put up a fight or not. After his parents are killed by the evil corporation, the heroic "Trash" rallies the remaining gangs in the Bronx against Henry Silva and his army of mercs. Mike and the bots suffer though this heavily edited version of Enzo Castellari's post-apocalyptic sequel to 1990: THE BRONX WARRIORS after Crow nearly burns down the bridge of the SOL. Meanwhile, Clayton Forrester puts his mom in a "home," then tries to improve the SOL's ratings by briefly adding a new crewmember.

817 - THE HORROR OF PARTY BEACH: Barrels of chemical waste are dropped into the ocean, and turn a bunch of skeletal remains on the ocean floor into a legion of blood-sucking sea monsters! Amidst the battle to destroy the creatures, there's romance, music, and lots of dancing on the beach. When not riffing on this episode's film, Mike, Crow, and Servo attempt to do some "manly beach dancing" and sing a song about Sodium, while Pearl, "Brain Guy," and Bobo continue to fool ancient Romans into thinking they are gods.

819  - INVASION OF THE NEPTUNE MEN: Alien beings plan to conquer Earth, but they didn't count on PRINCE OF SPACE wannabee "Space Chief!" In his rocket-powered car, Space Chief takes the fight to the invaders on Earth's behalf, while being cheered-on by kids in short shorts. During this episode, Mike and the bots watch in horror as the "Nanobots" battle Mike's eyelash mites, Krankor visits the SOL, and Pearl and "Brain Guy" try to make Professor Bobo remember who he is.

Vestron's Collector's Series releasing C.H.U.D. II: BUD THE CHUD to Blu-ray on 11/22!

THIS C.H.U.D.'S FOR YOU! THE INFAMOUS SEQUEL IN NAME ONLY COMES TO BLU-RAY, COURTESY OF LIONSGATE'S VESTRON COLLECTOR'S SERIES LABEL!

I haven't seen C.H.U.D. II in so long, but recall it being more like a failed RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD sequel than a C.H.U.D. followup. Still, it's a pretty fun little flick that unexpectedly got the royal treatment from Lionsgate.

While I'm not chomping at the bit to get it, I do plan on adding this title to my collection after the holidays, if only for the sake of nostalgia. (Unless I get it for Christmas, which would be super cool!)

Synopsis: Kevin, Steve, and Katie are an inseparable trio of friends doing some extracurricular snooping inthe school science lab when, among the test tubes and beakers, they discover a corpse! But before they can say 'Abra Cadaver,' the body disappears, rolling down Route 51 strapped to a gurney.

The kids need a spare stiff, and fast. What they find is 'Bud the Chud,' (Gerrit Graham) a half-dead decomposing humanoid, the result of a military experiment gone haywire. When Bud sets out on a killing spree, the kids, the Army, the police, and the FBI are hot on his trail, trying to save the entire town from becoming 'Chudified!'

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color | 85 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.85:1)
Audio - 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio

Extras:
  • Audio Commentary with Director David Irving.
  • Interview with Actor Gerrit Graham.
  • Interview with Actress Tricia Leigh Fisher.
  • Interview with Special Effects Artist Allan Apone.
  • Still Gallery
  • Video Release Trailer
C.H.U.D. II: BUD THE CHUD is available wherever discs are sold on Tuesday, November 22nd! Currently it would seem that Diabolik DVD has the best price for it ($23.99) but you can also pick this disc up at Amazon.com or Bullmoose.com! So be sure to order this release right now Vault Dwellers, and while you wait for it to arrive, you can listen to the "Bud the Chud theme song" on a constant loop!

Trailer Round-Up: BEYOND THE GATES, GHOST IN THE SHELL, JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK, KONG: SKULL ISLAND, and UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS.

It's been quite a while since I did a trailer round-up, so I thought I'd bring it back with a small taste of what to expect in the first quarter of 2017! Now sit back and prepare for a quick glance into fantastical worlds containing advanced artificial intelligence, giant apes and monsters, killer board games, and an ongoing race war between werewolves and vampires! Enjoy!

TRAILER #1: BEYOND THE GATES
Release Date: December 9, 2016 (Limited Theatrical Release + VOD)

I stumbled across this trailer quite by accident, and I'm glad I gave it a watch because this movie looks quite promising! Barbara Crampton stars in this Horror-themed version of JUMANJI, in which a pair of estranged brothers meet up to liquidate the assets of their missing father's video store. While pouring through their dad's office, they come across a mysterious board game called "Beyond the Gates." Out of sheer curiosity they begin playing it, and soon discover that they have to finish it in order to saves themselves, and their father!

TRAILER #2: GHOST IN THE SHELL
Release Date: March 31, 2017

Scarlett Johansson stars as The Major, a cyborg police officer that battles criminals and hackers in this visually stunning live-action adaptation of the popular Manga series. It has a very BLADE RUNNER feel to it, and I totally dig the remix of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence." It seems that great pains were made to keep this movie visually authentic, and after watching the trailer I'm ready to give GHOST IN THE SHELL a chance next March!

TRAILER #3: JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK
Release Date: February 7, 2017 (Direct to DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital)

When a supernatural threat looms over the world, the Justice League calls in some backup: Etrigan the Demon, John Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman, and Swamp Thing! DC's new animated adventure looks kind of cool, and it is nice to see some love being given to characters we don't see all that frequently. (Seriously, like 90% of DC's animation and live-action output is Batman and Superman oriented.)

TRAILER #4: KONG - SKULL ISLAND
Release Date: March 10, 2017

Legendary has now teamed with Universal to build a new giant monster cinematic universe that will culminate in a rematch between King Kong and Godzilla! With Godzilla successfully rebooted here in the U.S., the next step will be next year's KONG: SKULL ISLAND. In this Kong reboot(?), Vietnam era U.S. soldiers lead a research team onto the mysterious Skull Island, only to find that it is populated by giant insects, prehistoric monsters, and an enormous primate that is worshiped as a god! Though full of spoilers, the latest trailer shows us a film that holds a lot of promise, with a multitude of monstrous creatures, and a rather impressive cast. This is one movie that I am super excited for next year!

TRAILER #5: UNDERWORLD - BLOOD WARS
Release Date: January 6, 2017

Just when you thought it was dead, the UNDERWORLD series returns and offers up more of the same! Selene (Kate Beckinsale) attempts to end the feud between Lycans and Vampires once and for all, when a new threat emerges. Can she stop the new, and seemingly unstoppable Lycan leader by obtaining new powers? Well... yeah, probably. Personally I'm shocked that this particular franchise is still going (never underestimate the power of Kate Beckinsale wearing tight leather), but if anything, this movie can't possibly be as bad as the last one. Could it?

That's all I've got for you this time Vault Dwellers, but definitely check back soon for more trailers, Blu-ray news, and more!

ON NOVEMBER 22ND, ARROW VIDEO DELIVERS A BLU-RAY/DVD COMBO OF C.H.U.D. THAT WILL BRING OUT THE CANNIBALISTIC MUTANT HOBO WITHIN YOU!

I've been a longtime fan of C.H.U.D. and have been hoping for some time that a major distribution label would give it some love on Blu-ray! And now it is time for me to retire my old Anchor Bay DVD, because Arrow Video has delivered the C.H.U.D. Blu-ray I've always dreamed of!

Starring John Heard (HOME ALONE) and Christopher Curry (STARSHIP TROOPERS) alongside an early appearance from John Goodman, C.H.U.D. has justifiably built up a huge cult following in the years since its release in 1984, with one of the most iconic creature designs of the period.

What more could you possibly ask for?! Thank you so much Arrow Video - I'm super happy that you guys made the leap across the pond to bring us quality releases like this!

Gone Horror Festin'!

Hey Vault Dwellers! Yours truly is heading out for the weekend so there won't be any new content here or over at Vault HQ! I'll be partaking of Exhumed Films' 10th Annual 24-Hour Horrothon, which is my first visit to this highly-touted event!

Fourteen films are going to be screened at the International House in Philadelphia, all in 35mm. The catch? The audience has NO IDEA what is being shown. The only thing we're sure of, is that each film is a Horror flick hailing from the Decade of Decadence!

Prior to the movies, a sheet will be handed out with 14 vague descriptions of the day's features (a contest and yearly tradition) and after introductions, us lucky few (hundred) will try to survive a full 24 hours of 35mm films, trailers, and other fun stuff!

For any of you wondering, yes I will be posting updates about the show on social media, on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instagram, at least while I'm awake, because this is an endurance run, and only the strong will survive!

Now if you'll excuse me, the open road is calling Vault Dwellers! Destiny beckons! It is time to test my mettle, and see if years of 12-hour film fests, and staying up super late on a daily basis is enough training to sit through 24 hours of awesome!

I hope you all have a Happy and safe Halloweekend my friends! Eat candy, go trick r' treating, watch Horror films and TV shows, hit up a party, and just revel in the coolest holiday of the year! While I'm away, head over to the main site and read dozens of Horror-themed articles from the archives, or listen in to one of our Vault-Cast Halloween episodes!

Also, if you are looking for anything to do this weekend:

Newt Wallen is running some awesome stuff at The Anthony Wayne Theater (in Wayne, PA), over the next few nights, including TALES FROM THE CRYPT, CREEPSHOW, and THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

The Mahoning Drive-In (in Lehighton, PA) is playing THE SHINING and MISERY tonight, then CRITTERS and both THE GATE movies tomorrow night.

The Palace Theater in Syracuse is running THE CAR, FLASH GORDON, and ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW tomorrow night!

Have fun gang! I'll see you all upon my return on Monday! HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

The Anthony Wayne Theater is screening a trio of Horror classics this Halloweekend!

For those of you in the Wayne, PA area and absolutely nothing to do this weekend, Newt Wallen's REEL CULT series has got you covered! This Friday - Sunday, see two of the best Horror anthologies ever made, plus a Universal classic! For a mere $7.00 you may enter the haunted halls of The Anthony Wayne Theater and take in digital screenings of these awesome fright flicks...

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28TH @ 11:30 PM
TALES FROM THE CRYPT (1972)
This is the grand-daddy of all Horror anthologies and should not be missed! Five strangers meet The Crypt Keeper and witness their own deaths, in five brilliant vignettes! A woman gets a scary visit from Santa, an unfaithful husband has a ghastly vision of his future, a kindly Peter Cushing seeks vengeance from the grave, a woman discovers that she should be careful what she wishes for, and a cruel landlord is punished by the tenants of his poorly run home for the blind. TALES FROM THE CRYPT is a brilliant anthology film that balances the laughs and scares perfectly! Don't miss it!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29TH @ 11:30 PM
CREEPSHOW (1982)
This awesome anthology maintains the feel of pulp Horror magazines and comics, as it unspools in a series of tales involving zombies, monsters, "meteor shit," and killer cockroaches! Penned by Stephen King (who stars in one of the more lighthearted stories), directed by George A. Romero, with special makeup f/x by Tom Savini, and an awesome cast that includes Adrienne Barbeau, Leslie Nielsen, Hal Holbrook, Ted Danson, Ed Harris, and Tom Atkins, CREEPSHOW has all the makings of a true Horror classic!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30TH @ 8:00 PM
THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935)
It turns out that Frankenstein's Monster was not destroyed by a mob of torch-wielding peasants in the original film, and is one lonely guy. That's why Victor Frankenstein teams up with another mad scientist (Dr. Pretorious, played by Ernest Thesinger) to create a mate for his invincible creation. Will it be love at first sight, or will The Monster experience heartbreak for the first time?! Watch this fantastic film to find out!

THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN was one of the first Horror sequels to ever be made, and features some truly iconic moments. It's super rare for it to be played in a theater in any format, so treat yourself this Halloweekend and see it!

There's a lot of other cool screenings coming up this year at The Anthony Wayne Theater! Check out the roster below and get excited because they'll be playing great midnight movies every month, featuring the likes of Ed Wood and Sonny Chiba!

Thursday, October 20, 2016

2016's NEW HALLOWEEN VAULT-CAST IS HERE!

Here's an early Halloween treat just for you Vault Dwellers: A new (mobile) Vault-Cast is up on the web for your listening pleasure, and just in time for our favorite holiday!

Recorded on the way to a screening of "Shin Godzilla" (review and podcast coming soon!), we dodged potholes and bad drivers as we waxed nostalgic about our favorite Halloween programming and films, and shared our thoughts on several hidden gems that we recently unearthed (i.e. THE HOUSE WHERE EVIL DWELLS and DESTROYER)!

Admittedly, the audio quality could be better (we didn't realize there would be so much background noise when we recorded it on the open road), but rest assured that we did our best to reduce it in post-production. You can stream or download this new episode now at LibSyn, or listen to it instantly on YouTube below! (Or look for it on iTunes later this week!)

Thanks for listening Vault Dwellers - we hope you enjoy!

Also a really big special thanks to Vault-Cast fan Chuck Connors for supplying us with a new intro! If you like it, check out his other work at Slicely Studios on SoundCloud!
