BOB CLARK'S OTHER HOLIDAY CLASSIC ARRIVES JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS WITH A NEW 4K TRANSFER AND NEWLY RESTORED MONO & 5.1 AUDIO TRACKS!

Roughly six years ago, Scream Factory graced us Horror fans with their 2-Disc Collector's Edition Blu-ray of BLACK CHRISTMAS, and now it's time for all of us to consider double-dipping! Scream's latest release of the film boasts a new 4K transfer that is guaranteed to be a notch above the two different masters contained on the previous release, plus a painstakingly restored Mono track and  5.1 mix for the film! This is big news because this particular upgrade remedies the audio issues that angry fans pointed out on the 2016 Scream Factory Blu. As an added bonus, several new special features have been added to this 3-disc set to further sweeten the deal, which should make all of us collectors feel a tad better about buying the same movie all over again! (HA!) Could this be the definitive release of BLACK CHRISTMAS that we've all been waiting for? Let's take a closer look and find out!

Synopsis: The college town of Bedford is receiving an unwelcome guest this Christmas. As the residents of sorority house Pi Kappa Sigma prepare for the festive season, a stranger begins to stalk the house. A series of obscene phone calls start to plague the sorority and it becomes clear that a psychopath has more than merriment on his mind. As the police try to trace the phone calls, they discover that nothing is as it seems during this BLACK CHRISTMAS.

Scream Factory's BLACK CHRISTMAS: COLLECTOR'S EDITION will be available everywhere on Tuesday, December 13, 2016! There have been some complaints about the 2.0 Mono track on the first disc (as addressed in this review) - apparently there were issues with the optical audio track that Scream Factory utilized when producing this release, and I guess they did the best they could with it.

While that is disappointing, this is still a stellar Blu-ray that boasts two different transfers, numerous other audio options, and a huge number of extras. Honestly I don't see how anyone could justify skipping this release because of a "hissy" Mono track, but then again, I'm not a hardcore BLACK CHRISTMAS purist. Scream Factory announces 13 awesome new titles at 2016 San Diego Comic-Con!

Along with the cool announcements from various toy companies (like NECA), and the flood of awesome teaser trailers for upcoming films and TV shows, the most highly anticipated moment in this household is the aftermath of Scream Factory's Comic Con panel! While last year was pretty exceptional, I think they've easily topped it with these upcoming releases. Take a deep breath fellow Scream Factory fans, and please remain seated, because these thirteen upcoming Blu-ray titles are gonna rock your world!


BUBBA HO-TEP (COLLECTOR'S EDITION)
This cult classic features Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis as Elvis and JFK respectively. Both men team up to stop a soul-sucking mummy that's been attacking residents at their retirement home.

WILLARD
HOLY COW! I NEVER thought this would get a legit release, let alone from the powers that be at Scream Factory! What's even cooler is that...

BEN
The sequel is getting released too! More killer rat high jinks, and a classic Michael Jackson theme song!

BLACK CHRISTMAS (COLLECTOR'S EDITION)
Bob Clark's slasher classic is looking to get a major high-def upgrade!

POLTERGEIST II (COLLECTOR'S EDITION)
Not too shocked by this, as Scream Factory does now own the distribution rights to a lot of former MGM titles! This sequel boasts Native American themes, and the ultra creepy Reverend Henry Kane!

POLTERGEIST III (COLLECTOR'S EDITION)
Even this much-maligned sequel is getting the royal treatment. Reverend Kane returns to try and claim Carol Anne, leading to a lots of sleight of hand with mirrors and stand-ins for young Heather O'Rourke, who passed away before filming was completed.

DREAMSCAPE (COLLECTOR'S EDITION)
I adore this movie, and can't wait to see what extras Scream Factory adds to this release! Dennis Quaid  can jump into people's dreams (among other things), and battles a psychopath who is trying to murder the US president.

RABID (COLLECTOR'S EDITION)
This David Cronenberg classic features Marilyn Chambers as the unfortunate host of an experimental treatment after she is in a motorcycle accident. The result is an armpit orifice that infects people and turns them violent and bitey.

DEAD RINGERS (COLLECTOR'S EDITION)
Another Cronenberg favorite featuring Jeremy Irons. Identical twin brother gynecologists turn on each other, when a woman comes between them. |

SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE II & III (DOUBLE FEATURE)
A double dose of driller killers attacking slumber parties! This is a must own in my book!

THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED
An early AIP “slasher” film, where the students at a school for wayward girls begin disappearing one by one. Never seen it, but looking forward to adding it to my collection regardless.

DEAD OF WINTER
Mary Steenburgen plays a struggling actress who attends a private taped audition at the secluded mansion at the behest of a Mr. Murray (the late and great Roddy McDowell). But soon, she realizes that things aren't as they seem, and ends up fleeing for her life.

Well, what say you Vault Dwellers? Are you as excited as I am?! While a few of these films are relatively unknown to yours truly, I have to say that I am super excited for at least 80% of these titles!

Word is that some of these will see a release in November, so start saving some money, and keep an eye out for official release dates, disc specs, and extras, because I will be sharing them as soon as they arrive in my inbox!
