Women Try to Conquer the World in Jess Franco's THE GIRL FROM RIO - Arriving on 4K UHD on 09/26/23!

Cover art for Blue Underground's 4K UHD of THE GIRL FROM RIO!THE SEQUEL TO "THE MILLION EYES OF SUMURU" GETS A FANTASTIC 4K RESTORATION AND NEW BONUS FEATURES FROM BLUE UNDERGROUND!

I have barely dipped a toe in the cinematic exploits of Jess Franco (I've seen maybe three of his directorial efforts), but it seems like THE GIRL FROM RIO would be right up my alley. While odds are fairly good that I'll stumble across its Rifftraxed version sooner rather than later, I've read enough about this SUMURU sequel to possibly take a blind leap and pick up Blue Underground's brand-spanking new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray of the film! If you enjoy euro-spy thrillers and/or the films of Jess Franco, this seems like it's an immediate must-own disc! Let's take a closer look, shall we?!

Synopsis: In the tradition of BARBARELLA and DANGER: DIABOLIK comes this swinging '60s action orgy as bisexual super-villain Sumitra (aka Sumuru, the luscious Shirley Eaton of GOLDFINGER and THE BLOOD OF FU MANCHU) launches a diabolical plan to enslave the male species with her army of lusty warrior women. But when Sumitra kidnaps a fugitive American playboy, she crosses a sadistic crime boss (Academy Award winner George Sanders of ALL ABOUT EVE and VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED) and ignites a battle of the sexes that will bring Brazil to its knees in more ways than one. Get ready to experience director Jess Franco at his most erotic, exotic and bizarre. This is THE GIRL FROM RIO!

Richard Wyler (THE BOUNTY KILLER) and Maria Rohm (EUGENIE, JUSTINE) co-star in this kinky cult favorite (also known as Rio 70, Future Women, and The Seven Secrets of Sumuru), packed with go-go boots, miniskirts and outrageous Jess Franco style! THE GIRL FROM RIO is now presented totally uncut and uncensored with all its eye-popping nudity, and lesbianism now fully restored in 4K!

Bill Lustig's Blue Underground label has apparently done an incredible job on THE GIRL FROM RIO's restoration and has loaded up this 2-disc set with some cool new bonus features, including the Rifftraxed version of the film, which I honestly did not anticipate! (That's kind of awesome actually - I hope other companies start doing this as well!) THE GIRL FROM RIO's 4K arrives on September 26th and will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $32 - $50! (Oof! That's pricey!) You can add this Jess Franco classic to your collection now by ordering from AMAZON, BULL MOOSE, or DIABOLIK DVD!

SCREAM FACTORY GIVES CARPENTER'S "ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK" SEQUEL A NEW 4K TRANSFER AND BONUS FEATURES!

While not all of John Carpenter's later works were up to snuff with the legendary films he shot in the 70s and 80s, I still have a soft spot for most of them, including the oft-maligned ESCAPE FROM L.A. Is it super cheesy? Absolutely. Is it a far cry from the classic original? Definitely. But dammit, despite the surfing, and the basketballing, and the hang-gliding.... it is still very much a Snake Plissken adventure at its core!

To learn more about this disc (which you're going to buy, even if you hate the movie) just continue reading fellow Carpenter fans!

ESCAPE FROM L.A. is a "go-for-broke action extravaganza" (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times)!

Return to The Overlook Hotel in Mike Flanagan's DOCTOR SLEEP!

Cover art for the 4K UHD release of Mike Flanagan's DOCTOR SLEEP.
THE FILM ADAPTATION OF STEPHEN KING'S FOLLOWUP TO "THE SHINING" ARRIVES ON DVD, BLU-RAY, AND 4K ULTRA HD DISC ON FEBRUARY 4TH!

Last year I barely went to see anything in theaters (I averaged less than one trip to the closest cineplex each month), though there were plenty of movies I wanted to see, such as Mike Flanagan's DOCTOR SLEEP. Adapted from the Stephen King novel of the same name (which I just finished reading last month), this film pits grown-up Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor) against a supernatural foe called "Rose the Hat," a vampiric antagonist that targets children that have "the shining!" I've heard mixed reviews about this film, but I'm eager to finally watch it when it arrives in stores next Tuesday!

Synopsis: Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance (Ewan McGregor - TRAINSPOTTING, the STAR WARS PREQUEL TRILOGY) has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra (Kyliegh Curran - I CAN I WILL I DID), a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the "shine." Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson - THE GREATEST SHOWMAN, the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE series) and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.

Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra's innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.

It's Time to RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH Again With Troma's Latest Film!

THERE WILL BE MUCH RETURNING IN THIS INSANE FOLLOWUP TO LLOYD KAUFMAN'S "RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH VOLUME 1!"

I've always been a supporter of independent film, and I grew up on a steady diet of Troma flicks thanks to USA UP All Night! (Toxie, and Kabukiman, and Surf Nazis! Oh my!) But I admit that I haven't really paid Lloyd Kaufman and friends much mind since CITIZEN TOXIE and POULTRYGEIST. I guess a small part of it is that I grew up a bit and lost interest, but mostly it's because there's just too much competition out there these days. With so many indie filmmakers and distributors flooding the market week after week, trying as hard as they can to get their movies out to as many people as possible, it's getting harder to keep track!

That being said, the RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH flicks look absolutely insane! Boobs, monsters, crazy characters, gallons of slime and bodily fluids, celebrity cameos - this pair of films has everything you could possibly want from a Troma production. And now, after seven years, the RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH saga is complete with the release of VOLUME 2!

Synopsis: Welcome BACK to Tromaville High School! The once tone-deaf Glee Club has now turned into a vicious gang of Cretins, wreaking havoc upon Tromaville and two innocent lesbian lovers, Crissy and Lauren. As Lauren suffers the side-effects of a Cretin forced "duck rape," Chrissy follows a trail of tainted toxic taco crumbs, leading her to the crux of all Tromaville High School's mutating mires: The evil Tromorganic Foodstuffs Conglomerate and its salacious CEO, Lee Harvey Herzkauf!

With a duck/human hybrid baby in one hand and a laser in the other, the lesbian duo fights against Cretins, Monsters, and EVIL! Will they succeed or will Herzkauf and the Cretins reign supreme over Tromaville High School and the World!?

Disc Specs:
Not Rated | Color | 85 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.78:1)
Audio - English: Dolby Digital 2.0

Extras:
  • Two Girls One Duck - A full length documentary on the making of Return to Nuke 'Em High Vol. 1 & 2.
  • An introduction by Lloyd Kaufman.
  • Cannes 2017 - From festival to fascist.
  • TROMoMA featurette.
  • Trailers.
  • Tributes to Stan Lee, Lemmy, and Joe Fleishaker.
  • Short Films: Mr. Topps and Merry Christmas to My Wife's Butt
RETURN TO... RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH (AKA VOLUME 2) is now available on Blu-ray disc at most retailers, and should cost approximately $20! Rediscover your love of Troma today, and order a copy from either AMAZON or DIABOLIK DVD!

ROB ZOMBIE'S FOLLOW-UP TO "THE DEVIL'S REJECTS" ARRIVES ON DVD, BLU-RAY, AND 4K ULTRA HD DISC COURTESY OF LIONSGATE!

Hate me if you must Vault Dwellers, but I am not a Rob Zombie fan. While I did actually like THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, I was not impressed with HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES, or Zombie's HALLOWEEN films. Still the man must be doing something right because he's continued making films and has a pretty rabid cult following! So if you happen to enjoy the cinematic works of Rob Zombie, then you'll definitely want to add 3 FROM HELL to your collection when it arrives on all formats next Tuesday!

Synopsis: After being imprisoned for 10 years, the "Devil's Rejects" are back at it again. Otis (Bill Moseley) escapes prison and teams with his half-brother Winslow (Richard Brake), and devises a plan to get his sister Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) out too. Once freed, the 3 FROM HELL flee South, leaving a trail of bodies in their wake. Laying low in a small hotel across the Mexican border, they are soon targeted by a bloodthirsty gang led by the son of one of their victims - All Hell is about to break loose!

Arrow Video Brings Wes Craven's THE HILLS HAVE EYES PART 2 and Aldo Lado's WHO SAW HER DIE? to Blu-ray on September 17th!

Blu-ray cover for Arrow Video's Limited Edition Blu-ray of Wes Craven's THE HILLS HAVE EYES PART 2.
A MOTOCROSS TEAM BATTLES CANNIBALS IN THE DESERT & JAMES BOND TRACKS A KILLER IN THE CANALS OF VENICE IN ARROW'S LATEST RELEASES!

I'm a big fan of Wes Craven's THE HILLS HAVE EYES, and yet, I've never seen it's sequel (even though I own the Kino Lorber Blu-ray release). I plan on changing that in the near future though - the dog flashback sequences alone seem worth the price of admission! And I'm still a neophyte when it comes to giallo films, which means I've never laid eyes on WHO SAW HER DIE? A Venetian murder mystery with George Lazenby sounds too good to pass up! If you're as curious as I am about these two new Blu-ray titles, then continue reading for a closer look!

THE HILLS HAVE EYES PART 2 (1985)

Synopsis: The hills are once again alive with the sound of screaming in Wes Craven's hugely entertaining follow-up to his own groundbreaking 1977 film THE HILLS HAVE EYES. A motocross team on their way to trial a new super-fuel head out across the desert lead by Rachel, who, unbeknownst to the rest of the group, is a survivor of the cannibal clan which menaced the Carter family several years before.

Opting to take an ill-advised shortcut across the desert, the busload of youngsters drive straight into the path of the remnants of Rachel's demented cannibal kin - the menacing Pluto, and a hulking, blood-hungry brute by the name of "The Reaper." Made by Wes Craven immediately prior to his smash-hit A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, THE HILLS HAVE EYES PART 2 diverges from the grim tone of its predecessor in favour of fun action-horror thrills and spills replete with mutants, motorbikes, and - oh yes - dog flashbacks!

Blu-ray Cover for Arrow Video's WHO SAW HER DIE? directed by Aldo Lado and starring George Lazenby.
WHO SAW HER DIE? (1972)

Synopsis: Former Bond star George Lazenby (ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, THE MAN FROM HONG KONG) headlines this classic giallo directed by Aldo Lado (SHORT NIGHT OF GLASS DOLLS, NIGHT TRAIN MURDERS) - as compelling for its haunting atmosphere, twists and turns as for its parallels with another great Venetian horror/thriller - Nicolas Roeg's DON'T LOOK NOW.

Sculptor Franco Serpieri (Lazenby) welcomes Roberta (Nicoletta Elmi - DEEP RED) - his young daughter from a failed marriage - to Venice, unaware that a disturbed child-killer is stalking the city's canals. When Roberta's body is found floating face-down in the river, the lives of Franco and his estranged wife Elizabeth (Anita Strindberg - THE CASE OF THE SCORPION'S TAIL) are ripped asunder. Desperate for vengeance, Franco turns detective in a bid to track down his daughter's killer, and in the process unearths shocking evidence of depravity and corruption which implicates some of the most respected figures in Venetian society.

Released at the height of the giallo boom, this gripping mystery thriller boasts some of the most iconic names associated with the genre on both sides of the camera. Co-starring Dominique Boschero (THE IGUANA WITH THE TONGUE OF FIRE) and Adolfo Celi (THUNDERBALL), and featuring one of the all-time greatest scores from maestro Ennio Morricone (WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO SOLANGE?), WHO SAW HER DIE? thrills anew in its high definition debut!

Not Rated | Color | 94 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (2.35:1)

Scream Factory Delivers a Trio of Horrible Horrors on Blu-ray, Just in Time for Christmas!

MURDEROUS MACHINES, CHRISTMAS KILLERS, AND A CANNIBALISTIC MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY POPULATE SCREAM FACTORY'S NEWEST BLU-RAY TITLES!

Egads! As 2018 nears its end, Scream Factory is bombarding us with a final trio of fright flicks on December 11th and boy are they... something! I recall renting THE MANGLER on VHS after its failed theatrical run in 1995, mainly because of he big names that were attached. Needless to say, I was not impressed and never revisited it. SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT PART 2 is a definite guilty pleasure that won me over after a few viewings, and I'm truly happy to see that it has built up enough of a cult following to warrant a Collector's Edition Blu-ray.

Sadly I cannot say the same for TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE NEXT GENERATION which I haven't seen since its cable TV premiere on (I believe) Cinemax. But now that a few decades have passed... maybe it's time to sit down and give it another shot? (NAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! Hahahaha!) If you're as excited as I am(?) about these new titles, continue onward for all the juicy details on their new specs and extras!

THE MANGLER (1995)

Synopsis: The masters of horror Tobe Hooper (POLTERGEIST, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE), Robert Englund (A NIGHTMARE ON FILM STREET franchise) and Stephen King (CREEPSHOW, MISERY) join forces to bring you a shocking tale of terror.

Based on King's short story, this white-knuckle chiller follows a cop (Ted Levine - THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, THE HILLS HAVE EYES) as he investigates a series of grisly accidents ... and uncovers a deadly town secret that has been hidden for years – a terrifying entity that threatens to destroy everything in its path. With time running out and a young girl's life in the balance, he races to destroy the beast before it’s too late!

PIRANHA II: THE SPAWNING Flaps Its Way to Blu-ray on July 31st!

SCREAM FACTORY GIVES THIS INFAMOUS SEQUEL  ITS BLU-RAY DEBUT WITH A NEW 2K TRANSFER & EXTRAS!

The 80s were a magical time Vault Dwellers. Anyone with a handful of cash, a camera, and a dream (and maybe some semblance of a plot) could shoot a movie. This led to the creation of some of the craziest films ever committed to celluloid. Nothing was off-limits and nothing was out of the question. The boundaries of special effects, suspension of an audience's disbelief, and good taste were all pushed to their very limits!

Which brings us to PIRANHA II: THE SPAWNING. Released in 1981, this bizarre sequel to Joe Dante's original classic was partially directed by James Cameron, scored by Stelvio Cipriani, and features Lance Henriksen and a legion of flying killer fish! While its production history is ultimately more interesting than the film itself, PIRANHA II is still a fun reminder that there was once an era in cinematic history where just about ANYTHING could get bankrolled.

Synopsis: It may seem like paradise, but just off shore, a new brand of terror has been unleashed ... While investigating the mysterious death of a diver, scuba instructor Anne Kimbrough (Tricia O'Neil, ARE YOU IN THE HOUSE ALONE?) makes a horrific discovery: mutated piranhas, with wings that enable them to fly, are responsible for the death.

As the body count rises, Anne desperately tries to convince the manager of the resort to call off the annual fish fry on the beach, but he's determined to give his guests the ultimate feeding frenzy. This exciting sequel to Joe Dante's original Piranha also stars Lance Henriksen (ALIENS, THE TERMINATOR, NEAR DARK) and is the directorial debut of James Cameron (AVATAR, THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS).

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color | 94 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.85:1)
Audio - ?

Extras:
  • NEW! 2K Scan From The Original Camera Negative
  • NEW! Interview With Actor Ricky Paull Goldin
  • NEW! Interview With Special Effects Artist Brian Wade
  • Theatrical Trailer
Scream Factory's Blu-ray release of PIRANHA II: THE SPAWNING will be released on Tuesday, July 31st and should cost between $20 - $24! Order yourself a copy now from AMAZON, BULLMOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from SHOUT! FACTORY.

Also, while you may be celebrating the fact that you can now complete your PIRANHA movie collection, I must point out that you're still a movie short. In 1995, Roger Corman produced a forgotten remake of PIRANHA starring William Katt. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Scream Factory eventually releases that to Blu-ray as well!

Scream Factory Brings THE CURSE OF THE CAT PEOPLE to Blu-ray at the End of June!

THE FOLLOWUP TO 1942's "THE CAT PEOPLE" COMES TO BLU-RAY ON JUNE 26TH WITH A TON OF NEW EXTRAS!

While I haven't seen THE CAT PEOPLE (or its remake), it has been on my radar for some time. And though my taste in film gravitates towards cinema from the 70s and 80s, I do enjoy going further back and watching the occasional black & white classic from time to time. (Which is why I'm SUPER excited for Universal's upcoming Blu-ray set that features all thirty of their classic monster movies!) That being said, I best get to watching the original CAT PEOPLE so I can dive into this sequel, which is making its Blu-ray debut in less than two weeks!

Synopsis: Filled with "wonderful atmosphere [and] fine, moody fantasy" (Leonard Maltin), this continuation of 1942's CAT PEOPLE follows Oliver Reed (Kent Smith), now remarried, living in idyllic Tarrytown, New York, and the father of six-year-old Amy. When Amy becomes withdrawn and speaks of consorting with a new "friend," Oliver worries that she may be under the influence of the spirit of his first wife. Is it just Amy's imagination that has manifested the enigmatic Irena (Simone Simon), who long believed herself to be descended from a race of Cat People?

Directors Gunther V. Fritsch and Robert Wise (making his directorial debut), co-helmed a gothic-laced mix of fantasy and fright so astute it was used in college psychology classes. And producer Val Lewton, given small budgets and lurid, pre-tested film titles by RKO, worked with rising filmmakers to emphasize the fear of the unseen, and turn meager resources into momentous works of psychological terror.

Disc Specs:
Not Rated | Black & White | 70 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Fullscreen (1.33:1)
Audio - ?

Extras:
  • NEW! Audio Commentary With Author/Historian Steve Haberman!

  • NEW! Audio Interview With Ann Carter, Moderated By Tom Weaver!

THE CURSE OF THE CAT PEOPLE has seen a slight delay, but now has a firm street date of June 26th! You can order a copy now from AMAZON, BULLMOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from SHOUT! FACTORY (if you want it sooner)!

THE RETURN OF SWAMP THING is one of my all-time favorite sequels! Heck, I'd even go as far to say that it is one of my favorite films! I have fond memories of renting this on VHS from the long extinct video store that was near my house, and watching it over and over again! And now that THE RETURN OF SWAMP THING has received (what appears to be) a definitive Blu-ray release, I couldn't be happier!

In an attempt to stave off the effects of aging, Dr. Arcane, assisted by Dr. Lana Zurrell (Sarah Douglas), combines genes from various swamp animals and human beings, creating an army of monsters known as Un-Men.

When Abby arrives, Dr. Arcane is hell-bent on taking his own stepdaughter's life in the name of science... that is until she is rescued by SWAMP THING in this must-see sequel to the original cult classic and based on the award-winning DC Comics series!

From Melniker and Michael E. Uslan, the executive producers of BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and legendary cult film director Jim Wynorski (CHOPPING MALL, NOT OF THIS EARTH, SHARKANSAS WOMEN'S PRISON MASSACRE), THE RETURN OF SWAMP THING features an all-star cast that includes Heather Locklear (Melrose Place, UPTOWN GIRLS), Louis Jordan (SWAMP THING, OCTOPUSSY), Sarah Douglas (SUPERMAN II, CONAN THE DESTROYER) and Dick Durock (RAW DEAL, STAND BY ME) returning as the SWAMP THING.

DEEP BLUE SEA's Sequel Strikes Without Warning on April 17th!

THE FOLLOWUP TO RENNY HARLIN'S "DEEP BLUE SEA" IS COMING STRAIGHT TO DVD & BLU-RAY DISC!

DEEP BLUE SEA is definitely a guilty pleasure for many, with its infamous "stirring survival speech interrupted by killer shark" scene and cheesy (but awesome) theme song by L.L. Cool J. This unexpected sequel definitely seems to lack the charm of its predecessor, but dammit, it's a new killer shark flick, so naturally I'm drawn to it like a moth to a flame!

Synopsis: Carl Durant (Micheal Beach), a pharmaceutical entrepreneur, tests drugs on bull sharks in hopes to extract their antibodies to cure human diseases. Before he can continue with his experiment, he tries to enlist Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre), a shark conservationist, and other scientists to lead and endorse this project. The drug-enhanced sharks quickly begin to adapt and learn new hunting skills. The humans lose control over the laboratory and now they have to fight to survive.

Adam Green's VICTOR CROWLEY Now Available on DVD & Blu-ray!

VICTOR CROWLEY RETURNS TO MASSACRE MORE VICTIMS IN THIS GORY FOURTH INSTALLMENT OF THE "HATCHET" FRANCHISE!

Over the years I've become a big fan of Adam Green. While I wasn't entirely sold on HATCHET, he slowly won me over with its sequels, FROZEN, DIGGING UP THE MARROW, and the truly awesome content on his YouTube Channel. (The Scary Sleepover series is the best!) And now the fourth chapter of the HATCHET series is here: Rejoice, for VICTOR CROWLEY has returned!

Synopsis: A decade after surviving Victor Crowley's rampage in Honey Island Swamp, Andrew (Parry Shen) has authored a controversial book about his ordeal. Though things seem to be going Andrew's way, bad luck strands him back in the swamp, where Victor Crowley is mistakenly resurrected and proceeds to kill once more!

VICTOR CROWLEY features Felissa Rose (SLEEPAWAY CAMP), Laura Ortiz (THE HILLS HAVE EYES, Holliston), Dave Sheridan (SCARY MOVIE), and Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees in FRIDAY THE 13TH VII - JASON X), and is sure to please fans of previous installments!

Disc Specs:
Not Rated | Color | 83 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (2.39:1)
Audio - DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 & 2.0

Extras:

Tibor Takacs' GATE II Comes to Blu-ray in February!

SCREAM FACTORY REOPENS THE GATE, WITH THEIR DEFINITIVE RELEASE OF THIS LONG OUT OF PRINT SEQUEL!

I absolutely love Tibor Takacs' THE GATE. It was one of the first Horror films I saw growing up, and I'm happy to say that it still holds up remarkably well after all these years! And the Vestron Collector's Series Blu-ray release for it is a must-have!

I haven't seen GATE II in a very long time, but if memory serves, I wasn't a huge fan of it. However, time sometimes changes one's perspective, so I'll have to pick this Scream Factory release up at some point and revisit it!

Synopsis: Not all minions are cute and cuddly … This supercharged sequel to the horror classic THE GATE comes alive with unearthly creatures, heart-stopping action, and incredible special effects.

GATE II picks up again with Terry (Louis Tripp), the teenage sorcerer who summons beings from the other side whose powers can be used to grant any wish. Unfortunately, before the Gate closes again, a "minion" – a tiny disciple of Satan himself – manages to slip through to our dimension. When the creature is kidnapped – all hell breaks loose!

Directed by Tibor Takacs (THE GATE, I, MADMAN, Sabrina the Teenage Witch), GATE II is based on characters created by Michael Nankin (Battlestar Galactica, Hell on Wheels), and stars Louis Tripp (THE GATE) and Pamela Segall (King of the Hill, Californication).

This all could have been avoided if Terry had watched Mazes and Monsters!

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color | 93 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.85:1)
Audio - ?

Extras:
  • NEW! 2K Scan Of The Interpositive!
  • NEW! Return To The Nightmare – A Look Back At Gate II – Featuring Interviews With Director Tibor Takacs, Screenwriter Michael Nankin, and Special Visual Effects Creator Randall William Cook!
  • NEW! From The Depths – An Interview With Make-up Effects Artist Craig Reardon!

GATE II's street date is February 27th, and should cost between $20 and $25! You can order your copy now from AMAZON, BULLMOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from SHOUT! FACTORY to get it two weeks early!

THE STRANGERS Return to Theaters in March to PREY AT NIGHT!

THE FOLLOWUP TO 2008'S "THE STRANGERS" COMES TO THEATERS NATIONWIDE ON MARCH 9TH!

I still have yet to see THE STRANGERS, but I have plenty of time to catch up before THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT comes to the big screen! I'm very much looking forward to this new Horror flick because my buddy Damian Maffei (whom I last saw in Jay Woelfel's CLOSED FOR THE SEASON) has a nice meaty role as the axe-wielding "Man in the Mask" (aka Sackface), and I gotta show my support!

Synopsis: A family's road trip takes a dangerous turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park to stay with some relatives and find it mysteriously deserted. Under the cover of darkness, three masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test the family's every limit as they struggle to survive. Johannes Roberts directs this horror film inspired by the 2008 smash hit THE STRANGERS, starring Christina Hendricks, Martin Henderson, Bailee Madison and Lewis Pullman.

RICK DECKARD RETURNS THIRTY YEARS AFTER THE EVENTS OF RIDLEY SCOTT'S "BLADE RUNNER" IN THIS LONG-AWAITED SEQUEL!

I gotta be honest gang, I was not a big fan of the original BLADE RUNNER. However I think it was because I had certain expectations from the film that weren't met. (I still say the ending is pretty anticlimactic - "It's time to die" indeed!) But now that the sequel is out, I find myself ready to give the original a second look.... but sheesh, what version should I watch?!

Synopsis: Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for three decades.
