SCREAM FACTORY'S LATEST BLU-RAY TITLE IS A BLAST FROM THE PAST AND SHOULD BE A REAL TREAT FOR HORROR FANS!

Back during that wonderful period of my life where I was young and carefree, and made frequent trips to the nearby mom & pop video store (Electric City Video.... how I miss thee), I recall seeing the VHS cover for TERROR IN THE AISLES hiding in the Horror section. It was always one of those tapes I'd pick up and look at repeatedly, but never get around to renting. When I finally did get to sit down and watch this (mostly) 80s Horror doc it was during the death knell of both VHS and the video rental business when I bought a copy for just a few bucks.

But I eventually got rid of my large collection of tapes in order to upgrade to DVD (and eventually Blu-ray) and I wouldn't see TERROR IN THE AISLES again until Universal included it as a throwaway extra on their HALLOWEEN II Blu-ray. But now it looks like it could be time to upgrade again with Scream Factory's new release of this curiosity. I remember all the hoopla when the first trailers for THE HUNT hit the web, and I for one was more than ready to scope out this darkly humorous contemporary version of THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME. A Holiday Treat for Slasher Fans: Patrick Lussier's TRICK is Now Available on DVD, Blu-ray, and VOD!

While I haven't seen all of the films he has directed, at the moment I haven't met a Patrick Lussier film I didn't like. DRACULA 2000 was a solid reboot of the world's most famous vampire, MY BLOODY VALENTINE proved to be a shockingly fun (and competent) remake, and the completely off-the-rails DRIVE ANGRY is a total blast. (As far as Nicolas Cage revenge films go, I'll take this one over MANDY any day!)

Teamed with Todd Farmer, the man who wrote the screenplay for JASON X (as well as DRIVE ANGRY and MY BLOODY VALENTINE), is it any wonder that I'm kind of excited for TRICK? While I think it is super bizarre to release a Halloween-themed Horror film in December, I welcome this new slasher movie with open arms and I'm honestly thinking of just making it a blind buy - I trust these guys that much!

Synopsis: On Halloween night in 2015, Patrick “Trick” Weaver massacred his classmates at a costume party. After being arrested, he managed to escape police custody, but not before being shot five times by Detective Mike Denver (Omar Epps). Everyone believes Trick must be dead, but when a masked killer reappears the following Halloween, and every Halloween after that, they realize the nightmare is not over. With Trick wreaking havoc and killing people in increasingly terrifying ways, Denver will stop at nothing to finish what he started and bring the carnage to an end!

Fandom Can Be Murder: 1981's THE FAN Arrives on Blu-ray on November 19th!

While THE FAN's subject matter isn't entirely new (I've seen multiple movies where a crazed fan stalks a celebrity), the cast of THE FAN pretty much sold me on this film! Lionsgate Gives UNIVERSAL SOLDIER Its 4K Ultra HD Debut!

ROLAND EMMERICH'S EARLY 90'S ACTION/SCI-FI CLASSIC MAKES ITS WAY TO 4K ULTRA HD DISC!

I like UNIVERSAL SOLDIER well enough (the pairing of JCVD and Dolph Lundgren was a brilliant strategy) but (Van) damn it... the resulting franchise is all over the place! There are currently three direct sequels (THE RETURN, REGENERATION, and DAY OF RECKONING), and two numbered sequels that were made for TV (BROTHERS IN ARMS and UNFINISHED BUSINESS), plus a remake is apparently in the works.

All of that madness aside, while I haven't seen it recently, I recall enjoying the original UNIVERSAL SOLDIER, and look forward to seeing it in a much higher resolution than the DVD copy I own. If you're a fan of this film and don't own it yet, or are the type that always needs the best possible version of the favorite movies in your collection (guilty as charged!), then this is be a must-own for you!
