Umbrella Entertainment's November 2019 New Releases!

CURSED FILMS AND HOUSES, WILD WEST OUTLAWS, CANNIBALS, AND TANYA ROBERTS AWAIT YOU IN UMBRELLA'S NEWEST DVD & BLU-RAY TITLES!

After a relatively quiet October, Umbrella is back with a bunch of new releases that you'll want to add to your movie collections! In Kimble Rendall's forgotten slasher movie CUT, a killer starts knocking off a group of filmmakers that are trying to complete an unfinished fright flick, WWE wrestler CM PUNK stars as a stressed-out husband that is trying to remodel a house with a dark past in GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR, and Tanya Roberts stars as the titular character in SHEENA (i.e. the female BEASTMASTER)!

Also available this month are Tobe Hooper's immortal classic THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (in case you wanted to add yet another edition to your TCM collection) and a region free Blu-ray of YOUNG GUNS II, which features Emilio Estevez, Christian Slater, Lou Diamond Philips, and Kiefer Sutherland!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

* On December 4th, Umbrella Entertainment is bringing Jeff Begos' BLISS to Region 4-locked DVD, which features a struggling artist that engages in a hedonistic lifestyle that somehow leads her to crave fresh human blood!

* Also available on that date is a new Blu-ray release of CONEHEADS, one of the few feature-length films based upon a SNL sketch that isn't terrible!

* December 4th is also the release date for Mike Ahern's EXTRA ORDINARY, a new supernatural horror-comedy featuring Maeve Higgins, Barry Ward, and Will Forte.

* IRON FISTS AND KUNG FU KICKS is probably the main Umbrella release I'm looking forward to the most next month. Produced by Veronica Fury (who also produced the fantastic ELECTRIC BOOGALOO doc) this new documentary chronicles the impact of Hong Kong cinema on the rest of the world's action cinema!

CUT (2000)

Synopsis: 1985. The cast and crew of the horror flick Hot Blooded are learning first hand what it means to be stalked by a masked killer. When the director (pop superstar, Kylie Minogue) is viciously murdered on set the production is shut down and the film locked away, incomplete. But every time the footage is screened, somebody dies...

Fourteen years later, a group of enthusiastic film students decide to finish Hot Blooded. Led by Raffy, the director (Jessica Napier - GHOST RIDER), and producer Hester (Sarah Kants - Ashes to Ashes), they manage to track down Vanessa Turnbill (Molly Ringwald - THE BREAKFAST CLUB, SIXTEEN CANDLES), the star of the original film who reluctantly agrees to return to Australia. After shooting commences on the original eerie location, the students start to disappear one by one. Now, they just have to finish the film before it finishes them!

In over his head, under duress, and tempted by his old weaknesses, Don soon discovers that the house has its own dark, sordid history and won't be so easy to renovate after all....

SHEENA (1984)

Synopsis: The Zambouli tribe raise a young white orphan whom their shaman believes to have been sent as part of a mystical prophecy, teaching her the ways of telepathic communication with animals. The girl grows up to be SHEENA, QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE (Tanya Roberts), and she is soon called upon to save the Zambouli from annihilation by Prince Otwani (Trevor Thomas), who wants the precious metal under the natives' land. Sheena is also aided by a reporter named Vic Casey (Ted Wass) who falls for her charms.

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974)

Synopsis: When THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE hit movie theaters in 1974, it quickly supplanted the previous year's top horror flick, THE EXORCIST, as "the most terrifying movie ever made." But unlike William Friedkin's film, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE eschewed standard production values and modern special effects in favor of a grainy documentary-like approach with visceral, low-tech, in-your-face visual effects.

This tale of five young students who unwittingly meet up with a sinister hitchhiker and the mask-wearing maniac Leatherface (whose mask is actually made from dried human skin), turned a lumberjack's tool into the stuff of nightmares and the blood-curdling scream into an art form!

KRULL (1983)

LAST ACTION HERO (1993)

Synopsis: Danny Madigan (Austin O’Brien) knows the first three Jack Slater movies by heart and the fourth one is just about to be released. With the aid of a magical ticket, Danny gets to know the latest movie really well, literally speaking. While watching the opening action sequence during an advance screening, Danny is transported right into the movie!

While on the other side of the silver screen, Danny becomes the sidekick of Jack Slater (Arnold Schwarzenegger), the toughest cop on the police force. Complications arise while Jack and Danny are working on the case, when one of the bad guys gets a hold of Danny’s magic ticket and escapes out of the movie into the real world. Now Danny and his hero Jack Slater must chase the arch villain in the real world, a world where evil guys can actually win!

SILENT RAGE (1982)

Synopsis: Chuck Norris, six time World Karate Champion, stars in his first suspense film as the tough, street-fighting sheriff of a small Texas town terrorized by a psychotic killer.  Norris is faced with the dilemma of stopping the invincible murderer, made virtually indestructible through genetic engineering.  A young group of researchers are responsible for developing the serum, and the head of the research institute is determined to continue the genetic experiments regardless of the consequences.

Norris displays fighting brilliance as he singlehandedly routs a dozen brutal bikers from a truck stop hangout, while revealing a warm and sexy side when he rekindles an old romance with Alison Halman (Toni Kalem), a researcher at the institute.  Excitement, horror and romance prevails as Norris combats the killer.

WHO'S HARRY CRUMB? (1989)

Synopsis: John Candy is bigger, better and more bumbling than ever as the hilarious Harry Crumb - a big-hearted, soft-headed private eye and mixed-up master of disguise. THE LEGEND OF BILLIE JEAN (1985)

Synopsis: When local rich kid Hubie Pyatt (Barry Tubb) steals and wrecks Binx Davy's beloved motor scooter, Binx's older sister Billie Jean (Helen Slater) demands the $608 it costs to fix it. Binx shoots Mr. Pyatt (Richard Bradford) by accident and he and Billie Jean flee town, accompanied by Billie Jean's girlfriends Ophelia (Martha Gehman) and Putter (Yeardley Smith).

They become fugitives and when they pick up a very willing hostage, Lloyd (Keith Gordon), they become criminals. Billie Jean becomes a legend in her own time, a symbol of freedom to teenagers everywhere.

NEIGHBORS (1981)

Synopsis: Earl Keese (John Belushi - THE BLUES BROTHERS, NATIONAL LAMPOON'S ANIMAL HOUSE) is a slightly overweight, fairly average guy who is approaching middle age. He leads a reasonably comfortable life with his family in their suburban home. . . until the house next door is bought by a truly odd couple, Vic (Dan Aykroyd - GHOSTBUSTERS) and Ramona (Cathy Moriarty - RAGING BULL), who quickly proceed to drive Earl crazy.

Vic's lunatic behavior has Earl running in circles while Ramona's coarse seductiveness leaves him panting. In short, Earl's tranquil life is suddenly turned upside down. If it's laughs you want, these are the neighbors to look in on. John G. Avildsen (THE KARATE KID) directs a dream comedy cast (including SNL regular Tim Kazurinsky) from a screenplay by the one and only Larry Gelbart (TOOTSIE, THE WRONG BOX).

SHEENA (1984)

SONGWRITER (1984)

Synopsis: Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson as a pair of hard-living Texans in this funny, original and very real look at the country music business. Doc Jenkins (Nelson) may be one of C&W's most beloved stars, but his private life is a wreck. He's split up with his longtime partner, Blackie Buck (Kristofferson), a country outlaw with a heart of gold.

Doc's singer-wife, Honey Carder (Melinda Dillon), has thrown him out of the house. And now he's gotten involved with a sleazy music manager, Rodeo Rocky (Richard C. Sarafian), who's out to steal his material. Teaming up with Blackie, Doc takes drastic measures to win back his family and reclaim his songs.
