New DVDs & Blu-rays for 09/06/2016!

Hey Vault Dwellers! September is here and is starting off with a really strong slate of DVD & Blu-ray releases! Scream Factory unleashes THE DEAD ROOM, while parent company Shout! Factory's new Shout Select label boasts a great Collector's Edition of ROAD HOUSE.

There's a buttload of classic TV series out today as well, including complete sets for TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE, CHARLIE'S ANGELS, FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE SERIES, and QUANTUM LEAP. If you want something more contemporary, then you can choose from Season 11 of SUPERNATURAL, Season 2 of THE FLASH, or SOUTH PARK's 19th Season boxed set!

Trailer Round-Up: THE DARKNESS, HARDCORE HENRY, THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR, and STOMPING GROUND!

Been a while since I shared a bunch of trailers for upcoming genre flicks, so let's get back on track shall we? 2016 is looking to be an interesting year for indie films and Hollywood blockbusters if the following four films I'm spotlighting are any indication.

TRAILER #1: THE DARKNESS
Kevin Bacon stars as a dad who's child has become possessed by angry Native American spirits that are looking for vengeance. Centuries later, they are still pretty pissed that "the white man" stole their land and killed/subjugated its peoples. I'm kind of excited for this, if only because Native American folklore is rarely mined for cinema.

In the past we've only had THE MANITOU, SCALPS, POLTERGEIST II, CHOSEN ONE: LEGEND OF THE RAVEN, SHADOW OF THE HAWK, THE WHITE BUFFALO, and CREEPSHOW 2, so it'll be nice to have another Native American-themed genre film to add to the list. Here's hoping it's good! Look for THE DARKNESS in theaters on May 13th!



TRAILER #2: HARDCORE HARRY
I saw this trailer last year and had forgotten about it until now. HARDCORE HARRY is the world's first Sci-Fi/Action film  totally shot from the main character's point of view. It seems like a very cool gimmick for a short film, but I'm not sure how it'll translate into a feature-length movie. Still, this tale of a bio-mechanical hero saving his scientist wife from an army of bad guys led by an evil telekinetic could be the surprise hit of the year!

HARDCORE HARRY gives audiences vertigo and motion sickness nationwide in theaters on April 8th!



TRAILER #3: THE PURGE - ELECTION YEAR 
I enjoyed THE PURGE, and it's first sequel PURGE 2: ANARCHY, so I'll probably be checking this third entry out. The home invasion/class warfare series continues as a survivor from a previous Purge decides to run for President and makes a campaign promise  to abolish The Purge. Naturally the powers that be are not happy about this, and soon she is on the run for her life for 12 hours, in a nation gone mad.

You can check out THE PURGE - ELECTION YEAR on the big screen on July 1st!



TRAILER #4: STOMPING GROUND
A group of teens head out into the wilderness to go Bigfoot hunting and get more than they bargain for in this new indie flick featuring America's most famous cryptid. I don't have much more to say about this one, other than I'll probably see it because I'm a sucker for Bigfoot movies. STOMPING GROUND will be available on DVD & VOD on March 8th!
