Ever since the fateful day I first witnessed THE LAST DRAGON on Cinemax in my youth (which I later taped off of TV so could watch it again at my leisure), I've been a huge fan! I've owned this movie on DVD and Blu-ray, and have the (now out of print) soundtrack CD (which I still play from time to time on road trips)! But now the chance to upgrade my current Blu-ray copy of this beloved 80s classic is here again with the release of Sony's new 4K Steelbook of Berry Gordy's Motown martial arts masterpiece! But should you make the leap to 4K for this particular title? Well let's take a look at what Sony Pictures is offering up here to help you make an informed decision. (Spoiler: The answer is yes! Always YES!)

Synopsis: Martial arts student Leroy Green (Taimak) is on a quest to obtain the elusive all-powerful force know as "The Glow." Along the way he must battle the evil, self-proclaimed Shogun of Harlem - a kung fu warrior also known as Sho-nuff (Julius J. Carry III) - and rescue a beautiful singer (Prince protege Vanity) from an obsessed record promoter.

Combining pulsating music, cutting edge dancing and the best in non-stop action, Berry Gordy's THE LAST DRAGON is kickin' good fun featuring an amazing Motown soundtrack, including music by Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Vanity, and Debarge performing their smash hit "Rhythm of the Night."

Aside from the 4K restoration and new Atmos track (and a commentary track that might be fun?), there's really not much here to warrant double-dipping if you already own THE LAST DRAGON on Blu-ray. However.... if you're a big fan of the movie, or the type of collector who must have the best audio & video presentation that's available, then by all means make the upgrade! ACTION JACKSON Makes His Triumphant Return to Blu-ray Disc on September 24th!

YOU CAN STOP SCOURING EBAY BECAUSE CRAIG R. BAXLEY'S 1988 ACTION-COMEDY IS FINALLY BACK IN PRINT! 

Originally released back on Blu-ray in 2013, ACTION JACKSON has been out of print for several years. (And going for ludicrous prices online!) Thankfully Warner Archive saw fit to bring it back, and I couldn't be happier! ACTION JACKSON was a movie I discovered back in my teenage years and I still love it! Carl Weathers is awesome as the tough-as-nails cop Jericho "Action" Jackson, plus the film features Craig T. Nelson as the crazed villain, and offers up both Vanity and Sharon Stone as eye candy! It's a fun action flick that harkens back to the Blaxploitation films of the 70s, and I for one cannot wait to revisit ACTION JACKSON in glorious HD!

Synopsis: Like a blast from a .44 magnum, Carl Weathers (PREDATOR, The ROCKY series) makes ACTION JACKSON a hero who delivers the goods with charisma and excitement. He plays Detroit police Sergeant Jericho Jackson, pitted against the brutal thugs of ruthless auto tycoon Peter Dellaplane (Craig T. Nelson - POLTERGEIST, THE INCREDIBLES), who’s out to murder his way to political power. Jackson’s also involved with Dellaplane’s beautiful wife, Patrice (Sharon Stone - TOTAL RECALL, FATAL ATTRACTION) – and his mistress, Sydney (Vanity - THE LAST DRAGON, NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE). While I'm pleased to see ACTION JACKSON back in print, and at a reasonable price (this re-release currently goes for between $14 - $19), I feel like a little extra effort could have went into this disc. I mean they couldn't even include a trailer? Regardless if you're a fan of this movie, rejoice and order a copy now from AMAZON, BULL MOOSE, or DIABOLIK DVD!

Shout! Factory Proves That You're NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE on April 11th!

ON APRIL 11TH, JOHN STAMOS BEDS VANITY AND BATTLES GENE SIMMONS IN "NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE!"

Holy crap! I remember seeing this movie decades ago on VHS and I never thought I would see it get a legit Blu-ray release! Now that it has... I suddenly have the urge to revisit. I wasn't a big fan of it during my first viewing, but that may change once I've had a refresher!

Synopsis: When a top secret agent (George Lazenby, ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE) is murdered, his estranged gymnast son Lance Stargrove (John Stamos, Full House) teams up with his dad's seductive and deadly associate, Danja Deering (Vanity, ACTION JACKSON, THE LAST DRAGON) to face his father's killer… the fiendish mastermind Velvet Von Ragner (KISS' very own Gene Simmons.) The hermaphroditic heel is hell-bent on a scheme to poison the city's water supply — and it's up to Stargrove to crush Velvet once and for all!

This cult favorite was directed by Gil Bettmann (CRYSTAL HEART, NIGHT VISION) and features Peter Kwong (BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA), Robert Englund (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST.), and enough leather-clad, mohawked henchmen to fill a dozen ROAD WARRIOR knock-offs. You think you've seen it all? It's never too late to see NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE!

As happy as I am to see this title released to Blu-ray, I am quite shocked that it seems to be a bare bones release, as there's no mention anywhere online about trailers, commentaries, or interviews for NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE! Regardless, if you're a diehard fan of this film, then you need to own this Blu-ray/DVD combo pack! It will be available on Tuesday, April 11th, and can be ordered now at AMAZON, BULLMOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from SHOUT! FACTORY.
