Vault Master's Pick of the Week!

Welcome to October Vault Dwellers! Halloween is just four weeks away, and you know what that means: TONS of Horror flicks on DVD and Blu-ray! But unlike previous months, the stream of new titles will be constant! I really hope you all have been saving up your expendable income, because you're going to need it!

This week is populated with dozens of direct-to-DVD and indie titles, a bunch of double feature Blus, and some newer genre titles like MOLLY, DEATH RACE: BEYOND ANARCHY, TALES FROM THE HOOD 2, and THE FIRST PURGE.

Scream Factory brings IFC Midnight's FERAL to DVD & Blu-ray, Umbrella Entertainment debuts NEXT OF KIN as part of their Ozploitation Classics line, and there's a slew of new (Region B) titles from Indicator available on Friday, namely THE MIND OF MR. SOAMES, THE COLLECTOR, BORN OF FIRE, and ABSOLUTION.

But in my eyes, Kino Lorber Studio Classics wins the week with their Blu-ray release of THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE, as well as the early adventures of Darren McGavin's Carl Kolchak in new Special Editions of THE NIGHT STALKER and THE NIGHT STRANGLER. Both Kolchak discs feature new 4K restorations of the classic made-for-TV fright flicks, plus a good number of extras! I've definitely gotta get my hands on those in the near future!

IFC Midnight's FERAL is Looking to Build a 'Rabid' Following on Blu-ray!

SCREAM FACTORY BRINGS MARK YOUNG'S "FERAL" TO BLU-RAY ON OCTOBER 2ND!

While the plot of FERAL isn't anything new (campers stranded at a cabin in the woods, where one by one they succumb to a deadly virus) it seems like this latest IFC Midnight offering from Scream Factory has a few tricks up its sleeve, and could prove to be an interesting watch. Let's take a closer look at this upcoming Blu-ray title Vault Dwellers!

Synopsis: Your best friend has just been infected with a horrifying virus that will soon turn her into a rabid, rampaging cannibal zombie. Do you: a) try to save her? Or b) kill her before she kills you? That's the nightmarish scenario six students find themselves facing when their celebratory camping trip goes terrifyingly wrong.

One by one, each falls victim to the "feral" disease, until only Alice (Scout Taylor-Compton, Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN) and Jules (Olivia Luccardi, IT FOLLOWS) — two girlfriends testing the waters of their new relationship — are left standing, armed with a shotgun and holed up in a remote cabin. They've got a hell of a fight before them if they hope to survive in this grisly blend of survival thriller and contagion shocker.
