New DVDs & Blu-rays for 10/06/2015!

The first round of genre releases for October are out, and there's something for everyone on DVD & Blu-ray! Scream Factory has just released the cannibal-comedy GRAVY, and Kino Lorber's given us a nice Blu-ray release of BURNT OFFERINGS, a personal fave of mine, which features Oliver Reed moving his family into a haunted house of sorts.

Warner Home Video has recently upped their game, and put out a nice four-film Blu-ray set of Hammer Horror titles, including THE MUMMY, FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED, DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, and TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA. (As an added bonus, if you don't want the set, you can buy each film separately.)

But I've just scratched the surface because there's a ton of awesome new stuff available right now, featruing superheroes (AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON), zombies (BURYING THE EX), hauntings (WE ARE STILL HERE), and monsters (TREMORS 5: BLOODLINES)! Scream Factory to release James Roday's GRAVY in early October!

SCREAM FACTORY BRINGING HORROR-COMEDY "GRAVY" TO THEATERS ON OCT. 2ND - TO DVD & BLU-RAY ON OCT. 6TH!

Last June I reported that Scream Factory had acquired the North American rights to James Roday's GRAVY. Now Summer is just about over with, and we're only a few short weeks from finally seeing this new cult horror-comedy!

Film Synopsis: It’s Halloween night. A trio of costumed misfits with very special dietary requirements seizes a Mexican cantina and forces the staff to engage in a late night of gluttony. The only caveat is what’s on the menu… and who will survive ‘til morning!

This deliriously demented horror-comedy is a true feast for genre fans. Stuffed with an outstanding ensemble cast and perfectly seasoned with laughs and scares, you’ll be sure to ask for seconds on Gravy.

Scream Factory acquires North American rights for James Roday's Horror/Comedy, GRAVY!

JAMES RODAY'S "GRAVY" FINDS A HOME IN SCREAM FACTORY'S EVER-EXPANDING CATALOG!

Just got word today that Scream Factory has added James (Shawn Spencer in PSYCH) Roday's GRAVY to their upcoming slate of releases! Honestly, this is the first time I'm hearing about this film, but it sounds like it'll be a blast, and a perfect fit for Scream's impressive catalog of Horror titles.

Synopsis: An irreverent, daring and wickedly-fun horror comedy, GRAVY walks a perfect line of tension and release, laughs and scares. It’s Halloween night. A trio of costumed misfits, with very special dietary requirements, seizes a Mexican cantina and forces the staff to engage in a late night of gluttony. The only caveat is what’s on the menu… and who will survive til morning!

From James Roday: "I dreamt of cannibals, pop culture and Mexican food. That dream came true in the hands of a stellar ensemble cast and precision blood splatter. GRAVY is a very dark comedy for grown ups who also like a little gore on the menu. We look forward to trick or treating genre fans with the film later this year..."

The film boasts makeup f/x by Gregory Nicotero and Howard Berger, and has a rather impressive cast which includes: Michael Weston (STATE OF PLAY, GARDEN STATE), Jimmi Simpson (HOUSE OF CARDS, WHITE HOUSE DOWN), Sutton Foster (YOUNGER, BUNHEADS), Lily Cole (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN), Molly Ephraim (LAST MAN STANDING), Paul Rodriguez (ALI), with Gabourey Sidibe (EMPIRE, PRECIOUS) and Sarah Silverman (WRECK-IT RALPH).
