Media Blasters Quietly Debuts ZEIRAM 2 on Blu-ray Disc!

THE SEQUEL TO KEITA AMEMIYA'S "ZEIRAM" IS NOW AVAILABLE ON BLU-RAY DISC FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!

Acting as a followup to IRIA: Zeiram the Animation, ZEIRAM was a fairly decent live-action Japanese sci-fi flick that relied heavily on practical effects. The sequel (which I used to have on a bootleg VHS tape) upped the ante a bit, and to my knowledge, has never received a legit DVD release here in the States.

So imagine my surprise when I discovered that ZEIRAM 2 arrived on Blu-ray disc this past Tuesday through Media Blasters' Tokyo Shock label! This new disc contains both English & Japanese audio options and offers up a handful of special features, all at a relatively low price! Now if they'd just release the original ZEIRAM to Blu-ray, I'd be all set!

Synopsis: Upon successfully completing another important mission, the beautiful alien bounty hunter Iria returns to Earth. Along with her computer, Bob, and her assistant, Fujicrow, she is assigned a new android partner. Unfortunately, residing inside the android is the most cunning and evil combat life form known in the universe- a vicious Zeiram unit! When the android is damaged during combat, Zeiram emerges from hiding and begins to terrorize Iria and her comrades and soon becomes a serious planetary threat that must be stopped at all costs!

JAMES AVERY'S WORLD WAR II-ERA HORROR FILM NOW AVAILABLE ON ALL FORMATS!

I missed out on OVERLORD when it came to theaters last year, but finally got to see this J.J. Abrams production the other day, and I was pleasantly surprised by it! While its not the first film to tackle the Horror genre in war-torn 1940's Germany (see also FRANKENSTEIN'S ARMY), this movie did it better than most. It has likeable characters, great effects, and edge-of-your-seat action sequences - I'm definitely going to be adding it to my movie collection!

Synopsis: With only hours until D-Day, a team of American paratroopers (Wyatt Russell, Iain DeCaestecker, Jovan Adepo, and John Magaro) drop into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission that's crucial to the invasion's success. Tasked with destroying a radio transmitter atop a fortified church, the desperate soldiers join forces with a young French villager to penetrate the walls and take down the tower.

But, in a mysterious Nazi lab beneath the church, the outnumbered G.I.s come face-to-face with enemies unlike any the world has ever seen. From producer J.J. Abrams, Overlord is a thrilling, pulse-pounding action adventure with a twist!

Truth be told Vault Dwellers, I've owned bargain-basement DVD copies of several of the "Blood Island" films, but I've never watched them. And now they will continue to remain unwatched because I splurged and ordered myself a copy of this fantastic Blu-ray set from Severin Films! All four films have been given a plethora of extras, have been remastered in 4K, and have reversible artwork! TERROR IS A MAN (1959)

I just received a press release about this new indie action-horror film from director Matt Mitchell (GANGSTERS, GUNS, & ZOMBIES and IT NEVER SLEEPS) and it looks kind of cool. Look for it on VOD on January 2nd, and stay tuned for its sequel, THE RIZEN 2, sometime next year!

Synopsis: The year is 1955. NATO and the Allied Forces have been conducting secret, occult experiments in a bid to win the Arms Race. They have finally succeeded, but what they have unleashed could tear our world apart. Now one woman must lead the only other two survivors past faceless horrors that threaten to kill or capture them at every turn. They are the only ones left who can fight to close a door that should never have been opened.

Campy Creatures are coming from Keymaster Games in August 2017!

CAMPY CREATURES: A GHOULISH GAME OF BLUFFING, DEDUCTION, AND SET COLLECTION HAS BEEN FULLY FUNDED ON KICKSTARTER! 

Honestly, the box art's already got me sold on this game!

First of all, allow me to apologize to Mattox Shuler from Keymaster Games. He had sent me information about this game weeks ago, and I somehow ended up condemning his e-mail to a spam folder! Had I not kept meticulous notes on what , I probably would have forgotten all about this cool-looking card game! And while this news was time sensitive, I am very happy to announce that this game is not only fully funded, but has more than tripled the initial goal of $15,000! ABOUT THE GAME

As mad scientists, each player has been tasked with the goal of capturing "Mortals" for future experimentation. Players have an army of Campy Creatures to do their bidding (including a Blob, Vampire, Werewolf, and Kaiju) with three nights to get the job done! Be warned though—the Mortals won’t go out without a fight. Campy Creatures is for 2 to 5 players, and each full game takes approximately twenty, to thirty minutes to complete!


HOW TO PLAY
Each player is given an identical hand of Creatures. A turn begins when Mortals, Traps, or other Artifacts are revealed. Mortals are worth positive points, traps are negative, and artifacts give players different abilities. Each player simultaneously chooses a Creature and places it face-down. Once all have chosen, the Creatures are revealed and their abilities resolve. The Creature with the highest strength collects a card first, the second highest goes next, and so forth. A new turn begins when new Mortals, Traps, and Artifacts are revealed. A night lasts for six turns, and the player with the most victory points after three nights wins.

With funding secured, Keymaster Games is planning to unleash Campy Creatures in August of this year. It currently only costs $20 for the game, and is a guaranteed good time for b-movie monster fans, ages 8 and up! There will also be a free iOS and Android app to coincide with Campy Creatures, AND there are also plans to release a limited edition series series of beer (courtesy of Bottle Logic Brewing) to either drink while playing Campy Creatures, or enjoy at your leisure. These will be tart ales, and each release over 2017 will feature a different creature from the game! Pretty damned cool, right?
