ROBERT BRONZI HAS A WILD WEST SHOWDOWN WITH MICHAEL PARE IN RENE PEREZ' INDIE WESTERN!
Last year I posted about DEATH KISS (which I still have yet to see) and was bewildered by its leading man Robert Bronzi (formerly Robert Kovacs) because he is a dead ringer for the late and great Charles Bronson. This fact was clearly not lost on Uncork'd Entertainment, who hired Bronzi as their leading man for ONCE UPON A TIME IN DEADWOOD, a new action-packed Western that was apparently filmed at some of the same locations that Sergio Leone utilized for ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST! I guess the era of Brons-ploitation has truly begun!
Synopsis: A notorious gunslinger who is slipped a slow-acting poison by an heiress and told he has three days to track down and rescue her sister, who has been kidnapped by a band of hoodlums and holds the antidote. Rene Perez directs from his screenplay, with Jeff Miller (THE TOYBOX) also contributing.
Robert Bronzi (DEATH KISS) plays the gunslinger and Michael Pare (STREETS OF FIRE, BAD MOON) plays the main villain. The remaining cast is rounded out with Karin Brauns (PLAYING WITH DOLLS series), Lauren Compton (CLOWNTOWN), actor-model Chris Matteis, J.D. Angstadt, Jose Varela Garcia, Justin Hawkins, Tony Jackson, and Sierra Sherbundy.
The movie was filmed in California as well as in Western Leone, near Almeria, Spain, site of much of the filming of the famous Sergio Leone/Charles Bronson western ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST!

Scream Factory's latest IFC Midnight title is an indie Horror-Western that has earned itself some critical praise. THE WIND is being compared to other recent slow burn hits like THE WITCH and THE BABADOOK (two films I was not a big fan of), so if that gets your blood pumping, you may just want to pick up a copy of this movie when it hits DVD & Blu-ray disc tomorrow!
Synopsis: An unseen evil terrorizes an isolated homestead in this chilling tale of madness, paranoia, and otherworldly horror. Lizzy (Caitlin Gerard) is a tough, resourceful frontierswoman settling a remote stretch of land on the 19th-century American frontier. Far from civilization in a desolate wilderness where the wind never stops howling, she begins to sense a sinister presence that seems to be borne of the land itself — an overwhelming presence that her husband (Ashley Zukerman) dismisses as mere superstition.
When a newlywed couple arrives on a nearby homestead, their presence amplifies Lizzy's fears, setting into motion a shocking chain of events. Masterfully blending haunting visuals with pulse-pounding sound design, director Emma Tammi evokes a godforsaken world in which the forces of nature come alive with quivering menace.

UPDATE: 12/10/2018 - Arrow's DJANGO discs are currently ON HOLD (so if you somehow got one, count yourself lucky!) There is a review embargo in place, and the disc is not being shipped due to (from what I've ascertained from several sources) rights issues! I'll post more info as I receive it!
Because I'm quite possibly insane, I task myself with owning the best possible edition for just about every movie in my personal collection. That means that I am constantly double-dipping on titles I already own on DVD or Blu-ray.
And now here I am once again, on the cusp of upgrading two of my favorite Westerns: DJANGO and HANG 'EM HIGH, a pair of films warning of the dangers of leaving someone for dead! While DJANGO fares better (4K restoration, lots of extras, and a bonus film!), HANG 'EM HIGH's Blu-ray does offer up a pair of new audio commentaries! DJANGO (1966)
Synopsis: In this definitive Spaghetti Western, Franco Nero (KEOMA, THE FIFTH CORD)
gives a career-defining performance as Django, a mysterious loner who
arrives at a mud-drenched ghost town on the Mexico-US border, ominously
dragging a coffin behind him. After saving imperiled prostitute Maria
(Loredana Nusciak), Django becomes embroiled in a brutal feud between a
racist gang and a band of Mexican revolutionaries...
With DJANGO, director Sergio Corbucci (THE GREAT SILENCE) upped the ante
for sadism and sensationalism in Westerns, depicting machine gun
