RIDLEY SCOTT'S SEQUEL TO 'PROMETHEUS' ARRIVES ON HOME VIDEO THIS TUESDAY (8/15)!

I was not a huge fan of PROMETHEUS, but I did enjoy its followup quite a bit. ALIEN: COVENANT is a solid entry into the franchise, and Michael Fassbender steals the show both as David, and a new synthetic human called Walter.

Also, if you plan on picking this up, but for some reason don't have all the other movies, there is a groovy new set featuring all six films be released Tuesday as well! You can order it HERE.

Synopsis: The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an unchartered paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a terrifying threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Featuring an all-star cast including Academy Award Nominee Michael Fassbender (The X-MEN franchise, STEVE JOBS), Katherine Waterston (FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM), Billy Crudup (JACKIE), Danny McBride (THIS IS THE END) and Demián Bichir (THE HATEFUL EIGHT), ALIEN: COVENANT is loaded with bonus material!

VAULT VID-O-RAMA: ALIEN DAY EDITION!

It's April 26th, and you know what that means Vault Dwellers! IT'S ALIEN DAY ONCE AGAIN!

To celebrate, 20th Century Fox is apparently doing a lot of cool stuff today, including a Live Stream Event featuring interviews with ALIEN: COVENANT cast & crew members, plus exclusive footage from the film. There are also plans for some trivia challenges, a fan art contest, special screenings of ALIEN & PROMETHEUS (check Fandango for theaters and showtimes), and more! For more details, head over to PopCultureHQ!

In honor of this relatively new Xenomorph fan-centric "holiday," we here at The B-Movie News Vault present to you a series of ALIEN-themed YouTube videos that will have you waxing nostalgic, and get you pumped for the upcoming ALIEN: CONVENANT (in theaters May 19th)!

TOY COMMERCIALS
"A-LI-ENS! SEND IN THE MARINES!" Man I loved hearing that phrase emanating from my TV's speakers back in the '90s! When the run of toys based on ALIENS came out, I was only nine years old, and well on my way to being a Sci-Fi and Horror junkie. My parents fed my addiction, and that's why I (at one time) had a ton of ALIEN action figures!

Oddly enough, I didn't have any of the human characters, but did have a good mix of Xenomorphs, including the Queen (which sadly fell apart after falling off a shelf), the water-spitting "gorilla" alien, and spiky green "mantis" alien! Scope out these cool commercials and wish you had these toys!

And here's a classic commercial for the ALIEN toy made by Kenner way back in the day!

ALIEN PARODIES
Sure the hive-mind swarms of Xenomorphs are supposed to be terrifying, but that hasn't stopped various comedic minds from poking fun at the acid-blooded space "bugs." Here's a collection of hilarious ALIEN parodies (and musicals!) that should elicit a few good chuckles.

ALIEN RIP-OFFS (TRAILER REEL!)
The most enduring legacy of ALIEN, and its sequels, is the seemingly endless army of rip-offs it has generated. Below is a playlist I created, of numerous films that said "screw it, we're gonna copy ALIEN and ALIENS, but at a fraction of the price!"

BONUS VIDEO: TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES - THE CASE OF THE KILLER PIZZAS
The classic '80s Turtles cartoon series poked fun at numerous Horror and Sci-Fi characters during its ten season run. But in Season 2, Episode 6, the fearsome foursome tangled with monsters (hatched from meatball-like eggs) that look sort of familiar....

Trailer Round-Up: Hollywood Blockbuster Edition 2017 - Vol. 1!

There are dozens of trailers just waiting to be shared Vault Dwellers, but Hollywood Blockbuster season started super early this year! So let's take a look at the newest trailers for three highly anticipated sequels, and a reboot that looks like it'll be a great time at the theater! Aliens, ghostly sailors, and giant monsters

TRAILER #1 - ALIEN: COVENANT
Release Date: May 19, 2017

The latest entry into the ALIEN franchise is supposed to form a bridge between PROMETHEUS, and Ridley Scott's classic creature feature! In this film, a group of colonists (all couples apparently) travel to an Earth-like planet devoid of all animal life. At first they think they've come to paradise, but things quickly go downhill once they discover a derelict alien craft filled with familiar-looking eggs. To be honest, the trailer didn't blow my mind, but it looks like it could be the best franchise entry since ALIENS, and I'm more than ready to give it a chance! (Holy shit! Danny McBride is in this?!) Peep the trailer out below then start counting down the days Xenomorph fans!

TRAILER #2 - GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2
Release Date: May 5, 2017

The latest trailer delivers more action and humor as we head out on another adventure with our favorite crew of intergalactic misfits! This time around, they are joined by former foes (Yondu and Nebula), and new teammate Mantis, who can read people's thoughts and emotions. And not only will the Guardians save the Galaxy from a new threat (Ego the Living Planet!) but Starlord (Chris Pratt) will finally discover who his biological father is! I adored the first film and can't wait to see what director James Gunn has in store for us this time! May can't get here fast enough!

TRAILER #3 - KONG: SKULL ISLAND
Release Date: March 10, 2017

I have been eagerly anticipating this all new reboot of King Kong, and can't wait to see how it fits into Legendary's GODZILLA universe! Members of a monster-hunting agency called Monarch investigate the mysterious "Skull Island" during a secret military mission. Then all hell breaks loose when they run afoul of Kong, the island's "king," as well as a multitude of giant prehistoric monsters! (Hmm... I'm starting to wonder if Kong's isle is going to be the "Monster Island" of the American Godzilla franchise?) Scope out the final trailer below and get excited Vault Dwellers!

TRAILER #4 -  PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES
Release Date: May 26, 2017

Johnny Depp reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow one last(?) time in this new entry into the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series! A new supernatural threat emerges from the ocean depths when a pirate-hating spirit named Armando Salazar (Javier Bardem) escapes from "The Devil's Triangle" with the single-minded goal of killing Jack Sparrow. With the aid of friends both new and old, Jack seeks out "Poseidon's Trident," a powerful artifact that may help him defeat the undead Salazar and his ghostly crew! This actually looks like it'll be pretty cool and... OH MY GOD! ZOMBIE SHARKS!

That's all I've got for you today Vault Dwellers! Check back again soon for more trailers, Blu-ray news, and more, right here at The B-Movie News Vault!

Trailer Round-Up: ALIEN - COVENANT, DON'T KILL IT, HUNTING GROUNDS, and PITCHFORK!

Welcome to very first Trailer Round-Up for 2017 Vault Dwellers! This week we'll take a look at the newest chapter in the ALIEN franchise, watch Dolph Lundgren use guns and martial arts to battle supernatural evil, scope out a new indie Bigfoot epic, and take a peek at an all new addition to the slasher film sub-genre! Scroll down and peep these previews of coming attractions!

TRAILER #1: ALIEN - COVENANT
Release Date: May 19, 2017

Ridley Scott returns to his roots with ALIEN: COVENANT, which looks to bridge the original 1979 classic to 2012's controversial PROMETHEUS. Crew members aboard a ship called "The Covenant," discover a habitable planet that seems to be a veritable paradise. However, they eventually come into contact with an alien parasite leading to the eventual evolution of the dreaded Xenomorph! Those that (I'm assuming) make it off the planet must then fight for survival against their deadly stowaway! Here's hoping this movie proves to be a great sci-fi thriller, because I personally wasn't a big fan of PROMETHEUS.

TRAILER #2: DON'T KILL IT
Release Date: March 3, 2017 (DVD & Blu-ray)

Now this looks fun! Dolph Lundgren stars as a demon hunter that arrives in a small Alaskan town to take down a body-hopping,serial killer that is terrorizing the populace. (Wait, he pretty much already did this in THE MINION?) Apparently this movie was given a small release last August, but has since been sitting in direct-to-DVD purgatory. A shame because this looks like it'll be an above average b-actioner!

TRAILER #3: HUNTING GROUNDS
Release Date:  February 7, 2017 (Video on Demand)

A new release from Uncork'd Entertainment follows a father and son who move into a dilapidated shack in the woods after losing everything. Their luck gets even worse when they discover that they are now living smack dab in the middle of angry Sasquatch country. Now they'll have to survive against the primal fury of a Bigfoot and its kin, with a little help from Bill Oberst Jr.!

TRAILER #4: PITCHFORK
Release Date: January 13, 2017 (Video on Demand)

Yet another new release from Unkork'd Entertainment. This film centers on a kid named Hunter that drags a group of his friends to the farm he grew up on. He plans on facing his parents and to drag an old secret kicking and screaming into the daylight. But all hell breaks loose when a pitchfork-wielding psychopath begins knocking people off. Not quite sure what to make of this new slasher villain myself, so I guess I'll have to wait and see him in action next week!

That's it for now Vault Dwellers, but stay tuned for more movie new, trailers, and more here at the News Vault!
