The Future of Law Enforcement is Back: Arrow Video Gives ROBOCOP a Definitive Blu-ray Release This Holiday Season!

Arrow Video's Limited Edition RoboCop Blu-ray Cover
ON NOVEMBER 26TH, GIVE THE GIFT OF ROBOCOP TO YOURSELF WITH ARROW VIDEO'S FANTASTIC NEW LIMITED EDITION AND STEELBOOK RELEASES!

Verhoeven's ROBOCOP occupies a top spot in my list of all-time favorite films, and it's one of the few titles I've repurchased on multiple formats because I love this film so much and feel compelled to own the very best version available! And now that version is here! Arrow Video recently unveiled their Steelbook and Limited Edition of ROBOCOP and I gotta say... until an extras-packed 4K UHD release comes out, this is the be all, end all release of a film that is still ridiculously relevant today, as it was over thirty years ago! Now brace yourself Robo-Fans because it's time to dive into the specs and extras for this must-have release!

Synopsis: RoboCop marked director Paul Verhoeven’s (FLESH + BLOOD, STARSHIP TROOPERS, TOTAL RECALL) Hollywood debut and instantly became an enduring sci-fi/action classic when it landed in theaters in the summer of 1987. Verhoeven’s peerlessly exciting and kinetic visuals were matched by a sharp script, iconic cast and exceptional special effects by Rob Bottin (THE THING) and Phil Tippett (THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK).

The film takes place in Detroit in the not-too-distant future. Heroic cop Alex Murphy (Peter Weller - OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN, LEVIATHAN, BUCKAROO BANZAI: ACROSS THE 8TH DIMENSION) is gunned down in the line of duty, only to be resurrected as RoboCop – a cybernetic mix of spare human parts and Motor City steel, and the latest defense against crime designed by the all-powerful OCP Corporation. As RoboCop’s memories of his former life as Murphy resurface, only his ex-partner (Nancy Allen - ROBOCOP 2, ROBOCOP 3, DRESSED TO KILL) stands beside him to fight against the vicious thugs responsible for his death, as well as a nefarious top-level OCP executive orchestrating the chaos from above.

OH. MY. GOD! Honestly, mere weeks ago, yours truly was (foolishly) stating that Arrow couldn't possibly make me buy this film again, but boy was I wrong! Though it appears that they are using the same 4K restoration that MGM did back in 2013, Arrow is including THREE audio options, THREE cuts of the film, all of the previous featurettes from MGM's last release, and (as you've already seen) tons of new special features exclusive to both the Limited Edition and the gorgeous Steelbook!

If you know someone who is a big fan of ROBOCOP, or if you yourself are in love with this movie, then you best order it now! The Limited Edition currently costs $32 - $50 and can be procured from AMAZON, BULL MOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from ARROW VIDEO!

The Steelbook (which has all of the extras, but none of the bells and whistles like the lobby cards, booklet, and poster) is also in the $32 - $50 range and can be purchased from AMAZON, BULL MOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or ARROW VIDEO!

On January 29th Scream Factory Brings You Wings and Things!

"DEADLY FORCE" AND 1995'S "SCREAMERS" ARRIVE ON BLU-RAY DISC FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!

I have yet to watch DEADLY FORCE, but it seems to fit thematically with Scream Factory's latest Collector's Edition releases of 10 TO MIDNIGHT and COBRA. I haven't seen SCREAMERS since it premiered on cable (on Cinemax if memory serves) well over a decade ago, but I have been meaning to revisit it. Sigh.... guess it's time to pick up that second job I've been thinking about so I can buy these.

DEADLY FORCE (1983)

Synopsis: The X-killer is too insane to be caught. But one ex-cop is just crazy enough to try. Los Angeles is in the clutches of terror as a killer stalks the streets. Seventeen people have died and the only clue is an "X" carved in the forehead of each victim. Enter Stoney Cooper (Wings Hauser), a former police-officer-turned-private-detective. He's super-tough, rebellious, and angry and vows to bring the psychopath responsible for the "X-murders" to justice.

When innocent people are at risk ... when the police are powerless ... when nothing else will do ... your only recourse is DEADLY FORCE.

SCREAMERS (1995)

Synopsis: The year is 2078. The man is rebel Alliance Commander Col. Joseph Hendrickson (Peter Weller), assigned to protect the Sirius 6B outpost from ravage and plunder at the hands of the New Economic Bloc.

His state-of-the-art weaponry are known as Screamers: manmade killing devices programmed to eliminate all enemy life forms. Screamers travel underground, their intent to kill announced by piercing shrieks. They dissect their victims with sushi precision, then eradicate all traces of the carnage. They are lethal. Effective. Tidy.

And somehow, they are mutating – self-replicating into human form – and slaughtering every beating heart on the planet.

On May 22nd, Scream Factory Brings Long Out of Print Cult Classic OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN to Blu-ray!

PETER WELLER BATTLES A GIANT RAT IN GEORGE P. COSMATOS' "OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN!"

I was extremely excited to hear that Scream Factory had picked up this title Vault Dwellers! The film has been out of print for far too long, and is just one of several awesome films directed by the late George Cosmatos (who also directed TOMBSTONE, COBRA, RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II, and LEVIATHAN)! Never heard of this movie? Well then by all means continue reading so you can get as excited as I am!

Synopsis: When not mired in the corporate rat race, Wall Street executive Bart Hughes is king of his sleek Manhattan brownstone ... until he finds his castle under siege by the most determined of home intruders. Forced to enter a rat race of an entirely different sort, Bart takes a stand, with his survival and sanity at stake.

Peter Weller (ROBOCOP, Sons of Anarchy) stars in Of Unknown Origin, an eerie and nerve-tingling suspense thriller directed by George P. Cosmatos and the winner of Paris International Film Festival Awards for Best Picture and Actor. Cleverly and compellingly, the film draws you into a battle of wits, namely one with an intruder that's formidable, persistent and clever enough to lure Bart (Weller) along on an unwitting path to self-destruction. In the battle of man vs. beast, push has come to scream.
