STOCK YOUR VAULT: New DVDs & Blu-rays for 06/11/2019!

Vault Master's Pick of the Week!

Greetings Vault Dwellers and welcome to the triumphant return of the News Vault's weekly STOCK YOUR VAULT column! A few weeks ago yours truly was on vacation, and then mere days after returning home, Vault HQ was hacked and taken out of commission for several days! But have no fear, the Vault is back and better than ever, and regular updates have resumed!

This week saw an impressive number of great new releases from all of our favorite labels: I really hope you have some expendable income to dip into gang! Steve Kostanski's LEPRECHAUN RETURNS finally gets a release on physical media, Marvel/Disney brings CAPTAIN MARVEL to Blu-ray and 4K UHD, and Universal's seemingly forgotten CAPTIVE STATE quietly comes to home video.

Scream Factory flexes some major muscle this week with their new Collector's Editions of THE ENTITY and FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN, plus a brand new Limited Edition Steelbook of Joe Dante's PIRANHA, while their parent company brings the pseudo-biography of The Village People, CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC, to Blu-ray disc! Not to be outdone, Kino Lorber Studio Classics fires back with the Michael Caine vehicle KIDNAPPED, Michael Crichton's PURSUIT, and a Special Edition of THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS!

But the creme de la creme this week has to be Sony's 5-Disc Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Steelbook of GHOSTBUSTERS I & II! While the set contains the previous extras (and audio & video clarity) of the previous 4K discs, there are now over TWO HOURS of new extras! This may very well be the definite release for these films, so be sure to snap it up before it goes out of print!

Also available today: Redemption Films' DEVIL'S KISS, Synapse's SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENTS, Full Moon Features' EVIL BONG 666 and EVIL BONG 777, Cult Epics' MY NIGHTS WITH SUSAN, SANDRA, OLGA, and JULIE, and Arrow UK's new Blu-ray of DEF-CON 4!

There are still plenty of other new new DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4K discs now available that I haven't even mentioned yet - To see the full list be sure to scroll down!

THE ENTITY (1983 - COLLECTOR'S EDITION)

Synopsis: Oscar-nominee Barbara Hershey (the INSIDIOUS series, BLACK SWAN) stars as Carla Moran, a hard-working single mother whose life becomes a nightmare when she is attacked in her bedroom by someone – or something – that she cannot see. Disbelieved by her friends and dismissed by skeptical psychiatrists, Carla begins to lose her grip as she is repeatedly attacked in her car, in the bath, and even in front of her children. Could this be a case of hysteria, a manifestation of childhood sexual trauma, or something even more horrific? Seeking help from a group of daring parapsychologists, Carla will attempt an unthinkable experiment: to seduce, trap and ultimately capture the depraved spectral fury that is THE ENTITY.

FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN (1967 - COLLECTOR'S EDITION)

Synopsis: She's a vision of loveliness ... with a murderous mission from beyond the grave!

In this "most conceptually wild and outrightly science-fictional of the Hammer Frankenstein films" (Moria Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy Film Review), Baron Frankenstein (Peter Cushing) and Dr. Hertz (Thorley Walters) are embarking upon an experiment to capture the souls of the dead and impose them into other bodies. When their assistant, Hans (Robert Morris), is unjustly accused of murdering his girlfriend Christina's father and is himself put to death, the two men claim his body and trap his soul in their laboratory. Meanwhile, Christina (Susan Denberg) is consumed with grief over the death of her beloved Hans and commits suicide.

Frankenstein and Dr. Hertz are able to transfer Hans' soul into Christina's healed body, which results in a vision of beauty. Their experiment appears successful until Frankenstein discovers that Christina's seductive appetites are being driven by the spirit of Hans and his passion for revenge ...

Umbrella Entertainment's September Genre Releases!

UMBRELLA'S SEPTEMBER ROSTER PROMISES WASHED-UP SUPERHEROES, GIANT CROCODILES, AND RAPEY GHOSTS!

Umbrella's August releases were impressive, but their September lineup is looking absolutely fantastic! Out of all of their upcoming titles, I am personally most excited for DARK AGE, which hasn't seen a legitimate release here in North America since the halcyon days of VHS! I'm also mega-excited for their new DVD of THE RETURN OF CAPTAIN INVINCIBLE, a superhero musical starring Alan Arkin and Christopher Lee that was directed by Philippe Mora (director of HOWLING III: THE MARSUPIALS and other cult favorites!).

But enough celebrating: Continue onward to learn more about the following titles, which will be available on September 6th!

DARK AGE (1987)

Synopsis: A classic tale of terror from the golden age of Aussie exploitation, DARK AGE features outback stalwart John Jarratt (WOLF CREEK) as Northern Territory wildlife ranger Steve Harris, a stoic survivor charged with conserving the ever diminishing crocodile population from encroaching hunters, hell-bent on destruction of the species.

Faced with formidable opposition from gung-ho hunter John Besser (Max Phipps, MAD MAX 2),
Steve is joined by girlfriend Cathy (Nikki Coghill, THE TIME GUARDIAN) and sets out to relocate a giant crocodile to a breeding ground sanctuary, well out of harm’s way. Aided by expert tracker Oondabund (Burnham
Burnham, GROUND ZERO) and Adjaral (David Gulpilil, THE TRACKER) the intrepid foursome risk life and limb in a terrifying journey that will test their nerves and transform the tranquil Territory waters into a raging red torrent of death!

THE ENTITY (1982)
Synopsis: After single mother Carla Moran (Academy Award® nominee Barbara Hershey, BEACHES) is violated and attacked by a seemingly invisible force, she seeks the help of therapist Dr. Phil Sneiderman (Ron Silver, TIMECOP).

Convinced Carla’s traumatic past is more akin to self-harm than anything supernatural, Sneiderman dismisses the wild claim. However, an insistent Carla invites two college students with an interest in the paranormal to visit her house in order to help her foil another visit from her terrifying invisible attacker.

This title will also be available on DVD!
