It's April 26th, and you know what that means Vault Dwellers! IT'S ALIEN DAY ONCE AGAIN!

To celebrate, 20th Century Fox is apparently doing a lot of cool stuff today, including a Live Stream Event featuring interviews with ALIEN: COVENANT cast & crew members, plus exclusive footage from the film. There are also plans for some trivia challenges, a fan art contest, special screenings of ALIEN & PROMETHEUS (check Fandango for theaters and showtimes), and more! For more details, head over to PopCultureHQ!

In honor of this relatively new Xenomorph fan-centric "holiday," we here at The B-Movie News Vault present to you a series of ALIEN-themed YouTube videos that will have you waxing nostalgic, and get you pumped for the upcoming ALIEN: CONVENANT (in theaters May 19th)!

"A-LI-ENS! SEND IN THE MARINES!" Man I loved hearing that phrase emanating from my TV's speakers back in the '90s! When the run of toys based on ALIENS came out, I was only nine years old, and well on my way to being a Sci-Fi and Horror junkie. My parents fed my addiction, and that's why I (at one time) had a ton of ALIEN action figures!

Oddly enough, I didn't have any of the human characters, but did have a good mix of Xenomorphs, including the Queen (which sadly fell apart after falling off a shelf), the water-spitting "gorilla" alien, and spiky green "mantis" alien! Scope out these cool commercials and wish you had these toys!

And here's a classic commercial for the ALIEN toy made by Kenner way back in the day!

Sure the hive-mind swarms of Xenomorphs are supposed to be terrifying, but that hasn't stopped various comedic minds from poking fun at the acid-blooded space "bugs." Here's a collection of hilarious ALIEN parodies (and musicals!) that should elicit a few good chuckles.

The most enduring legacy of ALIEN, and its sequels, is the seemingly endless army of rip-offs it has generated. Below is a playlist I created, of numerous films that said "screw it, we're gonna copy ALIEN and ALIENS, but at a fraction of the price!"

The classic '80s Turtles cartoon series poked fun at numerous Horror and Sci-Fi characters during its ten season run. But in Season 2, Episode 6, the fearsome foursome tangled with monsters (hatched from meatball-like eggs) that look sort of familiar....

Trailer Round-Up: Hollywood Blockbuster Edition Volume 3!

It's been quite a while since I posted a new Trailer Round-Up, so it's high time I get things back on track! Hollywood has been churning out some quality entertainment this year, and it looks like this trend will continue right up until December! Take a few minutes to peep the four trailers below and get excited for films featuring gladiatorial duels (in space!), secret British spy organizations, wisecracking hitmen, and the next chapter of the ongoing STAR WARS saga!

Release Date: August 18, 2017

Ryan Reynolds is a skilled bodyguard that is tasked with protecting the world's most-wanted hitman, portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson. Explosions, violence, death, and hilarity ensue as they struggle to stay alive, and maybe even become friends! In a year crowded with great action films, it'll be curious to see if this particular one holds its own. Scope out the mothaf*ckin' trailer for THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD below!

Release Date: September 29th, 2017

This sequel to the surprise hit, KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, has the surviving members of Britain's spy organization teaming up with the American "Statesmen" to battle an all new threat! The trailer doesn't give away too much, but I'm definitely excited to see it later this year!

Release Date: December 17, 2017

The next chapter of the STAR WARS saga continues the story of the Rebellion's efforts to defeat The First Order and its Sith leader. If they use the typical trilogy template, this will be a very dark entry into the series. Luke Skywalker appears to train Rey in the ways of The Force (though he seems pretty intent on ending the Jedi gig altogether), Kylo Ren heads further down the path to the Dark Side, and lots of cool space battles ensue!

I was a pretty big fan of THE FORCE AWAKENS (though rather lukewarm towards ROGUE ONE), so I'm eager to see what happens next. I just hope it isn't a lazy retread of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

Release Date: November 3, 2017

The third entry into Marvel's THOR franchise looks to push further into the cosmic realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When the evil goddess Hela (hot, emo Cate Blanchett) destroys Mjolnir and casts Thor out of Asgard, our hero must find  a way back in order to prevent Ragnarok. (i.e. The Norse Apocalypse) Thor finds himself stranded on an alien world, where he's forced to battle in a gladiatorial arena for the entertainment of the planet's ruler. But as luck would have it, he also ends up running into an old friend....

That's all I got for you today Vault Dwellers! Make sure you mark all of these cool-looking flicks down on your calendars, and be sure to check back to the News Vault soon for more trailers, Blu-ray news, and more!

See Sonny Chiba as a crimefighting lycanthrope in WOLF GUY! Available on Special Edition Blu-ray on May 23rd!

I have known about the existence of WOLF GUY for some time now, but have been unable to procure a decent copy of it.... until now! Thanks to those magnificent folks at Arrow Video, WOLF GUY will finally be making its international debut! As a devout lover of all things Sonny Chiba, I simply must add this film to my personal collection!

Synopsis: Shinichi ‘Sonny’ Chiba is a martial arts ‘manimal’ in the ultra-70’s, 100% bizarre mixture of horror, action and sci-fi that is WOLF G UY, one of the rarest and most sought-after cult films produced by Japan’s Toei Studio. Based on a manga by Kazumasa Hirai (creator of 8 MAN), and never before released outside of Japan, it’s a genre film classic waiting to be discovered and a completely unclassifiable trip into phantasmagoric funk.

Chiba stars as Akira Inugami, the only survivor of a clan of ancient werewolves who relies on his supernatural powers to solve mysterious crimes. After a series of bloody killings perpetrated by an unseen force, Inugami uncovers a conspiracy involving a murdered cabaret singer, corrupt politicians, and a plot by the J-CIA to harvest his blood in order to steal his lycanthropic powers! At the same time, Inugami also discovers the truth behind his family heritage, and that he may not be the last of his kind.

Directed by B-movie genius Kazuhiko Yamaguchi (SISTER STREETFIGHTER, WANDERING GINZA BUTTERFLY, KARATE BEAR FIGHTER), WOLF GUY truly is one-of-a-kind, with Chiba in full effect as the part-man, part-wolf, all-karate action hero and a collection of familiar 1970’s Toei actors in support. Violence, action, nudity, real surgical footage, and a psychedelic musical score all work together to create an unforgettable trip to the heights of Japanese cinematic weirdness.

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color | 86 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.85:1)
Audio - Japanese (and English?) LPCM Mono

Arrow Video awakens CALTIKI: THE IMMORTAL MONSTER on April 25th!

It's been decades since I caught a late-night airing of CALTIKI on television. While I don't recall much about the film overall, I do have fond recollections about the movie's antagonist. A big thanks to Arrow Video for giving this film so much TLC. I can't wait to eventually add it to my collection!

Synopsis: A team of archaeologists led by Dr John Fielding (John Merivale, CIRCUS OF HORRORS) descends on the ruins of an ancient Mayan city to investigate the mysterious disappearance of its inhabitants. However, the luckless explorers get more than they bargained for when their investigation of a sacrificial pool awakens the monster that dwells beneath its waters – the fearsome and malevolent god Caltiki!

Though Riccardo Freda received sole directing credit, a significant portion of the film was in fact the work of Mario Bava, who also served as its cinematographer and was responsible its striking special effects. Drawing on a diverse array of influences, from THE QUATERMASS EXPERIMENT to the works of HP Lovecraft, CALTIKI: THE IMMORTAL MONSTER is a unique and unforgettable sci-fi chiller which showcases these two legendary filmmakers at their most inventive. Presented here for the first time in a newly restored high definition transfer, Caltiki shines – and terrifies! – like never before.

Disc Specs:
Not Rated | Black & White | 76 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.66:1)
Audio - English and Italian LPCM Mono

  • Brand new 2K restoration of the film from the original camera negative!
  • Original mono Italian and English soundtracks (lossless on the Blu-ray Disc), plus newly translated English subtitles for the Italian soundtrack!

Doc Terror Forever - JOIN US as We Celebrate James Harris' Legacy and Help Out His Family!

Last week, my friend James Harris (proprietor of Doc and lost his long battle against Ewing Sarcoma.

In the time I knew him, James was pure inspiration: A devout family man, he was passionate about all things Horror, and overflowing with positive energy. Jimmy's enthusiasm was infectious, and everyone (including Jimmy himself) truly thought that he was going to come out on top in the end.

But the tide suddenly turned a few weeks ago, and now the world seems a bit darker without him. Jimmy was one of a kind - a diamond in the rough. He was the sort of person (and Horror fan) that the rest of us all aspired to be.

Since his passing, I've seen an enormous outpouring of love and sorrow on social media. It is absolutely incredible how many lives Jimmy has touched in his short time here on Earth, so it comes as no surprise that many are rallying to help his family and keep his memory alive!

Here is a list (thus far) of various folks in the Horror community that are doing special film screenings, art prints, t-shirts, and more to raise funds for the Harris clan. I'll try and keep it all updated and current as events are announced:
  • Hudson Horror Show's Chris Alo is putting on a late-night Italian Horror double feature on Saturday May 6th at the Empire South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY. The 35mm screening will feature TWO mystery films! Tickets are set at $16.00, and the show will begin at approximately 10:00 PM! All proceeds from this screening will be donated to the Harris family. The ticket link is now live, so CLICK HERE to order yours now! Even if you can't make it, consider buying a ticket because it is going to a good cause!
  • Quiltface Studios' Chris Garofalo did a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for a limited edition art print that pays tribute to James Harris. All proceeds from the sale of the Doc Terror art prints will go to Jimmy's family. The thousand dollar goal was surpassed by quite a bit, so if you donated to the campaign, you will get your very own Doc Terror print! Contact Danny over at The SHOCK Chamber with your mailing address to ensure you get one!
  • The gentlemen at Vinegar Syndrome did a silent auction, and the winner (who spent a whopping THREE-THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!) got themselves a single MASSIVE package that will include all of VinSyn's releases from May thru the end of the year (including all secret and limited titles), a film canister with a VS shirt, VS hoodie and other added surprises inside. Congrats to the winner - thank you for your generosity!
  • I've heard rumblings that comic book artist Jeff Zornow is working on a special Doc Terror t-shirt design for Fright Rags! All money received for this tribute tee will be donated to Jimmy's fam. More details will be posted once I get them!
  • The folks from Exhumed Films are holding Ex-Fest: Part VII at the International House in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, April 29th. Word has it that this show will be dedicated to the late and great Jimmy Harris, who was a long-time Exhumed fan and supporter.
  • I've also heard that the folks that put on the Italian All-Night Splatter Fest at The Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA are dedicating their next big event in honor of Jimmy Terror.
  • Chad from The Horror Movie BBQ is currently pulling together a charity raffle to raise money for Jimmy's family. He's asking any of Doc Terror's friends and fellow bloggers and podcasters to send in collectible items (DVDs, Blu-rays, posters, action figures, etc.) to help sweeten the pot. The raffle is expected to go live sometime in early May.
  • On Friday, May 26th at 7:30 PM, head to The Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY for a James Harris Memorial Screening of CREEPSHOW! Tickets are a mere $12.00, and get you in for a 35mm screening of Jimmy's all-time favorite Horror flick! Quiltface Studios, Fright-Rags and Vinegar Syndrome will have merchandise for sale, and there will be raffle items from Mondo and NECA with proceeds benefitting the family!
  • Danny "Mozz" Monserrate from The SHOCK Chamber started up a GoFundMe for James last March. CLICK HERE to visit the page and make a donation.

Further details (and hopefully more new events) will be posted soon. In the meantime, explore Jimmy's legacy on the web:

DOCTERROR.COM - Jimmy's home base on the internet. Even as his health deteriorated, he continued plugging away at it.

HORRORSEXY.COM - Home of the HorrorSexy podcast and the short-lived HorrorSexy Web-mag.

DOC TERROR YOUTUBE CHANNEL - Those 8-bit Horror game previews James and Frank Browning created are to die for!

CINEPUNX INTERVIEW WITH DOC TERROR - Cool interview with Doc Terror!

Jimmy, it was a distinct honor to call you my friend. I miss you terribly, but hope that someday, in some way, our paths will cross again. Rest in peace my friend, and thank you for being a shining example for so many of us.

Shout! Factory Proves That You're NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE on April 11th!

Holy crap! I remember seeing this movie decades ago on VHS and I never thought I would see it get a legit Blu-ray release! Now that it has... I suddenly have the urge to revisit. I wasn't a big fan of it during my first viewing, but that may change once I've had a refresher!

Synopsis: When a top secret agent (George Lazenby, ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE) is murdered, his estranged gymnast son Lance Stargrove (John Stamos, Full House) teams up with his dad's seductive and deadly associate, Danja Deering (Vanity, ACTION JACKSON, THE LAST DRAGON) to face his father's killer… the fiendish mastermind Velvet Von Ragner (KISS' very own Gene Simmons.) The hermaphroditic heel is hell-bent on a scheme to poison the city's water supply — and it's up to Stargrove to crush Velvet once and for all!

This cult favorite was directed by Gil Bettmann (CRYSTAL HEART, NIGHT VISION) and features Peter Kwong (BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA), Robert Englund (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST.), and enough leather-clad, mohawked henchmen to fill a dozen ROAD WARRIOR knock-offs. You think you've seen it all? It's never too late to see NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE!

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color | 97 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.78:1)

  • None listed.

As happy as I am to see this title released to Blu-ray, I am quite shocked that it seems to be a bare bones release, as there's no mention anywhere online about trailers, commentaries, or interviews for NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE! Regardless, if you're a diehard fan of this film, then you need to own this Blu-ray/DVD combo pack! It will be available on Tuesday, April 11th, and can be ordered now at AMAZON, BULLMOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from SHOUT! FACTORY.

On April 11th, Get DEMENTED with Sallee Young!

Having seen I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, MS.45, and numerous other rape and revenge films, I didn't realize this particular entry into the sub-genre even existed! And as an added bonus, porn legend Harry Reems has a role in this movie! I'm filing this under "must see" right now!

Synopsis: She has lost everything. Hope…control…and her mind!

After surviving a brutal and devastating assault, Linda Rodgers (Sallee Young) is institutionalized in order to deal with her intense trauma. By the time she is finally released, her attackers have been brought to justice and imprisoned…but the psychological scars remain.

Tormented by visions of her attackers, and mistreated by her philandering husband (Harry Reems!), Linda is pushed over the edge when she encounters four young men whom she confuses with the men who assaulted her. Consumed with madness, Linda attempts to enact a bloody retribution for the disgusting crimes committed upon her… and no one is safe in this shocking 1980 exploitation film in the tradition of I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE!

Soldiers Face Their Phobias in the Apocalyptic World of TANK 432! Now available on DVD & Blu-ray!

"TANK 432!"

IFC Midnight titles are hit and miss, but this one seems like it'll be pretty cool. I'm guessing it is one of those types of films where you'll be trying to figure out if there is actually a physical threat (i.e. mutant soldiers or a bio-weapon), or if everyone is just slowly going mad! Either way, I'm down!

Synopsis: From executive producer Ben Wheatley (KILL LIST, HIGH-RISE) comes a mind-bending plunge into hallucinatory terror. Under siege by a mysterious enemy in an apocalyptic, war-torn landscape, a band of mercenary soldiers, hooded hostages in tow, seek refuge inside an abandoned military tank.

But their sanctuary soon reveals itself to be a steel-walled prison. As the group succumbs to claustrophobia, paranoia, and increasingly disturbing delusions, it becomes clear that the real threat may lie not outside, but within. The directorial debut from longtime Wheatley collaborator Nick Gillespie unfolds like a delirious, pulse-pounding puzzle.

TANK 432 is now available wherever Blu-rays and DVDs are sold, including AMAZON, BULLMOOSE (which is currently offering the cheapest price), and SHOUT! FACTORY. Not sure if you're game for this one? Then check out the trailer below!

Scream Factory Helps The Bee Girls Invade Blu-ray and DVD!

I count myself fortunate to have seen INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS in 35mm! It's a fun, and oddly erotic little sci-fi film that rises above its ludicrous (and sometimes hilarious) plot! And yes, before you even ask, you see plenty of "Boo-Bees" in this flick!

Synopsis: "INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS is the best schlock soft-core science fiction movie since The Vengeance of She," claimed film critic Roger Ebert. And who wouldn't be terrified by the very thought of watching these lovely bee-hived beauties love their chosen mates to death?

A government inspector, that's who. And now he alone must stop their lust for killing, before he becomes one of the Queen Bee's honeys! This bee-witching tale stars a pair of bee-uties: Anitra Ford (THE BIG BIRD CAGE) and Victoria Vetri (WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH).

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color | 86 minutes | Region A
Video - 1080p Widescreen (1.85:1)
Audio - TBA (Guessing DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0)

  • NEW! High-Definition Film Transfer From The Internegative!
  • Theatrical Trailer

INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS is now available on DVD & Blu-ray from those magnificent folks at Scream Factory! Though light on extras, I'm excited to own this movie because of the new HD transfer! Dolph Lundgren Hunts Demons in DON'T KILL IT! Now available on Blu-ray and DVD!

I posted about this film a while back and I'm happy to report that it is now available on DVD and Blu-ray! I'm looking forward to watching DON'T KILL IT at some point, and think it would definitely make a great double feature with 1998's similarly-themed Dolph Lundgren vehicle, THE MINION (aka KNIGHT OF THE APOCALYPSE).

Synopsis: An ancient evil is unleashed in a small Mississippi town leaving a trail of death and destruction as it passes from host to host. The only hope of survival lies with a grizzled demon hunter (Dolph Lundgren) who has faced this terror before. Together with a reluctant FBI agent he has to figure out how to destroy a demon with the ability to possess its killer.

There's a few other cool titles worth investigating (like DON'T KILL IT, starring Dolph Lundgren!) so scroll on down to see the full list of this week's new DVDs and Blu-rays!

Trailer Round-Up: Hollywood Blockbuster Edition 2017 - Vol. 2!

As March comes to a close, we've been gifted numerous trailers for even more awesome mega-budget Hollywood blockbusters, as well as the new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000! Killer clowns, a plethora of alien worlds, everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, angry apes, and the Satellite of Love await those of you that are brave enough to scroll onward!

Release Date: September 8, 2017

A group of kids band together to protect themselves from a supernatural threat that is lurking beneath the streets of Derry, Maine. Based on the beloved Stephen King novel, IT promises to be one of the scariest films to hit multiplexes in some time! Check out the trailer below to see if it raises any hackles on the back of your neck!

Release Date: April 14, 2017 (Exclusively on NetFlix!)

When I heard that MST3K was coming back, I was dubious.... until the Kickstarter page showed up! Millions of fan dollars later, the show has been brought back to life thanks to the efforts of Shout! Factory, NetFlix, legions of MSTies, and original creator Joel Hodgson! Season 11 features an all new cast, many new characters, and fourteen films never before riffed on, including REPTILICUS! I cannot WAIT to experience this new incarnation of my favorite show in a few weeks. Get excited with me by watching the trailer fellow MST3K fans!

Release Date: July 6, 2017

After Sony failed to really build any good will with fans after the dismal THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, they began (smartly) working with Marvel Studios! In this newest reboot of the Spider-Man franchise (which thankfully avoids retelling his tired origin story), Peter attempts to take on some major baddies to prove that he's an Avengers-caliber hero! This new Spidey adventure features Michael Keaton as "The Vulture" and Robert Downey Jr's as Iron Man! Here's hoping that the Sony/Marvel team-up turned out to be a match made in superhero heaven!

Release Date: July 21, 2017

I must admit that I am not a huge fan of Luc Besson (I actually kind of hate THE FIFTH ELEMENT). That being said, I'm actually pretty excited for VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS! An evil force tries to end centuries of peace between thousands of intergalactic races, and only two heroes are up to the task! I think this looks pretty darned cool, and will definitely be giving it a shot when it hits the big screen in late July!

Release Date: July 14, 2017

I very much enjoyed the two films leading up to WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, so I expect big things from director Matt Reeves. This third (and final?) entry into the new APES franchise pits a highly trained human army against Caesar and his people. The apes want peace, but evil Woody Harrelson will have none of that, forcing the mighty leader of the intelligent apes to carry out a quest for revenge! This looks pretty damned awesome Vault Dwellers, and I am more than ready to throw down some coin to see it!

That's all I've got for you tonight gang, but be sure to check back soon for more trailers, Blu-ray news, and more at The B-Movie News Vault!

Be careful what you wish for! Vestron Collector's Series delivers the WISHMASTER films in new limited edition set!

I think the original WISHMASTER is a really solid piece of genre filmmaking and deserves plenty of love. The sequels? Truthfully, I cannot comment further because I've never really seen the rest. Regardless, this set is extremely tempting, and is a great bargain considering it is the first Vestron title that is reasonably priced!

WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH HELEN? Scream Factory will show you!

I have to admit Vault Dwellers that I am entirely unfamiliar with this movie. I'm hoping to change that at some point when I finally add this disc to my constantly expanding Blu-ray collection! Not so sure about this title yourself? Well scroll on down and learn more about WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH HELEN?

Synopsis: Debbie Reynolds and Shelley Winters star in this stylish shocker set in 1930s Hollywood about two women who come to Tinseltown to start an idyllic new life and end up in a terrifying nightmare.

Directed by Curtis Harrington (QUEEN OF BLOOD, GAMES), this relentlessly frightening film also stars Dennis Weaver (McCloud), Agnes Moorehead (Bewitched, DEAR DEAD DELILAH) and Yvette Vickers (ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES, ATTACK OF THE 50 FT. WOMAN).

Disc Specs:
Rated R | Color and Black & White | 101 minutes | Region A

WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH HELEN? is now available wherever discs are sold! You can order it today from AMAZON, BULLMOOSE, DIABOLIK DVD, or directly from SHOUT! FACTORY. To get a better idea of what the movie is about, scope out the trailer below!

MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: VOLUME XXXVIII now available from Shout! Factory!

Nothing gives me the warm and fuzzies more than seeing the release of yet another new Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVD set! And with a brand-spanking new season premiering in just a few weeks on NetFlix, four more classic episodes making their DVD debut is just icing on the cake!

Read on fellow MSTies, and learn more about this all new collection which is made up entirely of Mike Era episodes and loaded with cool extras!

602 - INVASION U.S.A.: When not in the theater and riffing for their lives, the SOL crew tries to have a family "date," (inspired by the short that precedes the feature film, A Date With Your Family) and Mike Nelson tries to build a new robot companion. As for the film itself, INVASION U.S.A. is not an over-the-top Chuck Norris action film, but an old "Red Scare" film that focuses on a group of bar patrons who believe that the Russians have secretly invaded America!

618 - HIGH SCHOOL BIG SHOT: A dorky kid agrees to take part in a heist in order to win the attention of a pretty (but dumb) classmate. Meanwhile Crow and Tom try to break into Gypsy's diary, "innocently" egg Mike, and reenact the film's finale during the fan mail portion of the show. This episode also comes with a bizarre short entitled, Out of This World, a cautionary film made to keep bread truck drivers on the straight and narrow.

605 - COLOSSUS AND THE HEADHUNTERS: Legendary strongman Maciste (My Cheesesteak?) leads his people from their sinking island, to a land of warring tribes in this sword and sandal "classic." This episode is probably best known for TV's Frank's creation "Nummy Muffin Coocol Butter!"

1007 - TRACK OF THE MOON BEAST: A meteor shard falls to Earth and embeds itself in the skull of a mineralogist named Paul. Then, on nights of the full moon, Paul transforms into a murderous were-lizard! Once his secret is out, the woman he loves (a "reporter" that wears skimpy knitted outfits) and his Native American pal Johnny Longbow, must find a cure, or find a permanent way to stop Paul from killing again! During this cinematic misadventure, Mike and the bots learn the joys of an onion blossomer, reenact a goofy scene from the movie, and tell the tragic backstory of "The Band that played California Lady."

Disc Specs:
Not Rated | Color and Black & White | Approx. 480 minutes | Region 1
Video - 480p Fullscreen (1.33:1)
Audio - ?

  • Zugsmith Confidential Featurette.
  • HIGH SCHOOL BIG SHOT (Original Feature Film)
  • Mike, By Joel Interview.
  • Tracking A Moon Beast With Actress Leigh Drake.

Hey Vault Dwellers! Sorry for the lack of content, but last week was just so damned busy! Between work, a little car maintenance, and a fun night out at The Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers (for a Hudson Horror Show triple feature), I just didn't have enough free time to type up any new posts! Now that things have settled down, it's time to scope out some new trailers for some upcoming films! Scroll down and peep out the previews for some really cool upcoming movies!

Watch DC superheroes unite! Witness Edgar Wright's return to the director's seat! See Larry Cohen get some major love in a new documentary! Gape as furry monsters are presented with human sacrifices! Behold Charlize Theron as she prepares to become the "female John Wick!"

Release Date: July 28, 2017

Charlize Theron stars as Agent Lorraine Broughton, a spy sent alone into Berlin to retrieve a priceless dossier from within the destabilized city. She partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through a deadly game of spies. Based on a graphic novel, and directed by David Leitch (who worked on the first JOHN WICK and is currently prepping to shoot DEADPOOL 2), this is one action film you will not want to miss out on!

Release Date: August 11, 2017

Edgar Wright (SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ, WORLD'S END) writes and directs this new fast-paced action flick with cool car chases! After being coerced into working for a crime boss, a young getaway driver finds himself taking part in a heist doomed to fail. This movie has an all-star cast (Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, John Bernthal, et al.), a helluva soundtrack (this movie had me at "Radar Love"), and looks like it will be a lot of fun! Welcome back Edgar Wright! Oh how I've missed you!

Release Date: November 17, 2017

Though it's been a really bumpy road, DC/Warner Bros. are finally going to bring DC's greatest heroes to the big screen in their first team outing! An evil force threatens the Earth, and only the combined might of Batman, The Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Wonder Woman can stop it! This looks a little more lighthearted that the dour MAN OF STEEL and BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and seems like a step in the right direction for the struggling DC cinematic universe. I'm cautiously optimistic for this film, and hope that it delivers the goods!

Release Date: TBA

Writer/director Steve Mitchell takes a look at the life and career of Larry Cohen, the man behind such classic exploitation fare as IT'S ALIVE, THE STUFF, Q: THE WINGED SERPENT, GOD TOLD ME TO, et al.)! This list of people interviewed for this documentary is dizzying (Martin Scorsese, J.J. Abrams, John Landis, Joe Dante, Mick Garris, and dozens of others), and as a fan of Cohen's work, I for one cannot wait to check this out!

Man.... I feel an intense urge to revisit the IT'S ALIVE trilogy in the very near future....

Well, that's all I've got for you today Vault Dwellers, but be sure to check back soon for more news, posters, trailers, and more, right here at The B-Movie News Vault!

The B-Movie News Vault's Indie Filmmaker Spotlight: David Munz-Maire

Greetings Vault Dwellers! Earlier this month I took a moment to report about the efforts of low-budget Horror director Todd "Killer" Wolfson. (Read all about him HERE.) I received such an overwhelmingly positive response to that post, that I decided that the News Vault's Indie Filmmaker Spotlight must continue! So now, allow me to introduce you to the newest inductee into this ongoing series....

David Munz-Maire on the set of GOODBYE CHARM CITY.

David E. Munz-Maire is a Bilingual International Baccalaureate Diploma recipient, and alumnus of the prestigious NYU: Tisch School of the Arts. He earned his B.A. in Film & T.V. and Minors in Psychology and Producing for Film & T.V.

David's passion for directing led him to pursue a Masters in Directing at the School of Visual Arts. He is also the Co-Founder of AireBedd, a banner under which he has garnered dozens of laurels for his various short films and music videos.

Since 2012, David has been dutifully honing his craft, and cutting his teeth on every aspect of film making. Aside from directing, he's also (as of my writing this) produced (at least) a dozen shorts, worked as a production assistant (on IMPRACTICAL JOKERS), an editor, script supervisor, grip, art director, and has even done a bit of acting. He is clearly a jack of all trades!

Currently David's Horror short CHATEAU SAUVIGNON: TERROIR, is making the rounds at various film festivals, and continues to receive accolades and awards!

A behind the scenes photo from CHATEAU SAUVIGNON: TERROIR!

Written, Produced, and Directed by David Munz-Maire
[Official Site]

Synopsis: This film is about the dynamic struggle between an ex-psychiatrist and one of his former patients. The story is set in motion when Tony, a former Sing Sing inmate, accidentally robs and is held captive by his old shrink Dr. Beck. Beck is an ex-criminal psychologist turned librarian after the murder of his wife and son, who interrogates the intruder as though it were one of their sessions turned awry.

Written, Produced, Edited, and Directed by David Munz-Maire
[Official Site]

Synopsis: A gruesome coming of age story about a vintner son's disobedience and desire to care for his ailing mother.

David Munz-Maire's CHATEAU SAUVIGNON: TERROIR feels like a much classier version of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, but is no less brutal. In this film, a vintner's son, against his father's wishes, takes two guests on a tour of their wine-making facility. This eventually results in a gory double-homicide, and the reveal of a ghastly family secret!

CHATEAU is a fantastic short film that is atmospheric and delightfully gruesome. The makeup effects (courtesy of Anthony Pepe) are well-done, and the cast members all turn in good performances. I enjoyed it and hope that in the future, David Munz-Maire considers turning this concept into a feature-length Horror film! But that is probably a long way off because David currently has a lot on his plate. (He is the primary producer of Airebedde's releases after all.)

Many thanks to David Munz-Maire for supplying pictures and information to help make this post possible! If you would like to stay informed about his current and upcoming projects, be sure to like and follow Airbedde's Official Facebook Page! To watch the shorts and music videos that David was worked on, visit Airebedde's Official Website, and their Vimeo page as well!

If you happen to be an independent and/or low-budget genre filmmaker and want to be part of the Vault's next Indie Filmmaker Spotlight, please contact us! Be sure to include a short biography, photos, links to your website and/or social media pages, and most importantly, links to your films. (Whether they be shorts or feature length productions!)
