SEVERIN FILMS BRINGS TWO ITALIAN EXPLOITATION CLASSICS TO BLU-RAY DISC!

Laura Gemser portrays "Black Emanuelle" in Severin Films' Standard & Limited editions of Joe D'Amato's EMANUELLE AND THE LAST CANNIBALS, and Bruno Mattei's VIOLENCE IN A WOMEN'S PRISON!

I've never seen either film, but out of the two, I (quite shockingly) would rather watch Joe D'Amato's cannibal flick! While I would typically approach any D'Amato production with some trepidation (mostly because I haven't seen a film of his that I haven't groaned and grumbled through), I have to admit that the trailer for EMANUELLE AND THE LAST CANNIBALS makes it look pretty damned entertaining!

Synopsis: While doing undercover work in a mental hospital, Emanuelle (Laura Gemser) discovers a girl who seems to have been raised by a tribe of Amazonian cannibals. Intrigued, Emanuelle and friends travel deep into the Amazon jungle, where they find that the supposedly extinct tribe of cannibals is still very much alive, and Emanuelle and her party are not welcome visitors.

VIOLENCE IN A WOMEN'S PRISON (1982)

Synopsis: Planning to expose the corrupt practices of a woman's prison, Emanuelle (Laura Gemser) goes undercover as an inmate. She is shocked by the guard's brutal treatment of the inmates, but she never gets a chance to report these horrors.

When her actual identity is revealed, Emanuelle finds herself on the receiving end of even worse. Directed by Bruno Mattei (HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD, RATS: NIGHT OF TERROR), and also starring Gabriele Tinti, Maria Romano, Ursula Flores, Lorraine De Selle, Franca Stoppi, and Antonella Giacomini.
